Anybody willing to share a clip of the Palpatine’s hologram call with Pryde up until Lando chats with Poe but WITHOUT Kijimi blowing up in the middle, just as a demonstration of whether or not the scenes flow together?

I could, since I edited it together that way already. I haven’t watched that chunk of the movie overall, but I imagine it working well.

Leia dies, Kylo and Rey react and disperse.
Heroes return to base, Chewie loses it.
Kylo confronts his father’s mindworm which was tied to Leia.
Palpatine says Leia has thrown a monkey wrench into things and orders Pryde to come to him.
Poe prays to Leia.

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Yeah I imagined it would work fine, in theory… I just really liked the way Rose’s line to Poe transitioned to him talking to Leia. Since that scene is gone, I was just concerned it wouldn’t flow as nicely.

My only other concern is that I have yet to see proof that the reveal of Chewie being alive can be delayed with only rearrangement, no deletion.

Edit:

Also, with the aftermath of Kijimi’s destruction being deleted, we have no scene of Poe being thrown into the deep end and setting up his new responsibilities and thus, giving the Leia scene context.

I removed it completely at first but then found a really nice place for Chewies return just after Rey senses him on Kylos ship. That was we find out just after Rey and it’s a nice flowing reveal, IMO

Yeah, and it works better to remove the now redundant buildup with Pryde and Hux talking about a ‘valuable prisoner.’

I feel like the light speed skipping cuts away to quickly. It needs to linger on the trail the Falcon leaves for a second or two before wiping.

Is the frame in part two right after the ghosts fade away? If so I won’t downloa again because I just caught it and fixed it.

And for part one, is only Obi-Wan’s first close-up shot different? I think I like the former one better so will stick with that.

So, Anakin beckoning her to restore the balance can lend some credence to that. Sort of like how Qui-Gon in LOE encouraging Yoda to “complete what [he] could not” implies that the chosen one remains as potential for the future (Luke, supposedly at that point).

Can you cut out the part where Rey is levitating with rocks orbiting her? It would do wonders for never seeing her levitate again and would make her seem less overpowered

I don’t think that’s necessary. She’s never in a situation later where levitating would get her out of a jam. Plus, we do kinda see her levitate when she does all those Jedi flips.

All right, here’s what stands out as far as big changes that remain unrealized. There’s plenty else to tend to but these are the more important things:

  • Mustafar. Does anyone have the high quality clips to use! LILLIAN posted a clip recently in her (?) thread, which used these. They are an arial shot of a patterned lava flow, lava eruption behind trees, and video game footage of troop carriers landing with troopers dispersing. And, if anyone wants to really knock it out of the park, add illuminated specks between the Destroyer and the planet in the film’s opening shot and troop carriers in some way to the arial shot of the lava flow (perhaps passing by camera closely so as not even to need a model).

  • Dominic’s version of the vision during Rey’s remote training, once he finalizes it

  • The squeaky wheel extension needs FX work, but is hardly essential

  • Luke’s haircut, if jonh gets it to where he is happy with it

  • Relacing Endor with Coruscant in the celebration montage (and Jakku with Kijimi, in a perfect world)

  • Final scene: adding Ben’s ghost from jonh, possibly add light double rainbow to homestead, and alternate take of Rey’s line from poppasketti

It’s all coming together Hal… 😉

As for the list, I would say the one that requires the most attention is the Endor into Coruscant shot. 😬 After the loss of Snooker’s computer, we need you talented people to pick up the torch! If we can have several takers of that shot, we might be able to pick and choose what works best, and combine people’s edits… I would say it is the most urgent shot as well since we have literally already reused the Endor shot earlier in the film, so it actually NEEDS to be replaced.

Let the games begin! Which of you are brave enough to undertake such a task?

That’s the only thing at the moment keeping me from rendering out a completely coherent, albeit incomplete, version of the movie. Since Ewoks are seen earlier in the movie now.

Filoni hinted that we don’t know what happened to her or when… almost as if he’s trying not to spoil any of the live-action series he’s working on.
