Here’s a list of things I plan on doing for my 3-in-1 prequel edit:

  • The edit will be called “The Fall of Skywalker: A Star Wars Story”, in a nod to The Rise of Skywalker

  • Have the scene in TPM where Yoda allows Obi-Wan to train Anakin as a Jedi play at the very beginning before the Lucasfilm logo plays. If not, have it play after the “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” and before the opening crawl shows up.

  • No mention of the Chosen One (this means that I’ll be removing most of the dialogue at the end of the Mustafar duel, and that the only line staying there is Anakin’s “I hate you!!” line).

  • Removing tons of awful dialogue, obviously.

  • Mention in the crawl that Anakin is the son of Qui-Gon (who was Obi-Wan’s old master who was also secretly married to Shmi, and he wanted Obi-Wan to train his son as a Jedi at the time of his death).

  • The whole “Jedi aren’t allowed to have attachments” thing is removed.

  • Since I’m removing most of TPM, this means that I’m removing Maul altogether, and that Jar Jar will just be a background character. This also means that Padmé is just a senator and not a queen.

  • Save Yoda’s lightsaber for his duel with Sidious, and he’s a Force projection during the fight (the latter idea is not mine, it’s by IlFanEditore).

  • Some edits will be borrowed from other edits by users such as Hal 9000, ForceGhostRecon, IlFanEditore, etc.

  • After the binary sunset scene, the film ends with Anakin’s full transformation as Vader, ending with the shot of the metallic bed moving as we see a close-up of Vader’s helmet (no traditional Star Wars end credits theme, and will instead use this track by Alan Silvestri but without the Avengers theme at the end)

Interesting. I don’t know if someone proposed the Yoda-Projection before, but that was my idea for my Episode III edit. If done well, it could keep the image of Yoda not using a real lightsaber, while keeping the final duel, which IMHO is phenomenal.

I plan on having Yoda keep his saber, as well as having him be a “physical projection” (he can still clash sabers with Sidious and use the Force, but his projection cannot be killed). And yeah, I know that “projection Yoda” was your idea, but I forgot your username at the time (hence why I couldn’t put your name in the comment).

Hey, no problem at all. 😉 I didn’t want to be quoted, I just wanted to say I thought it was a good idea if done correctly.

Solo is kicked out from this (because Darth Maul will be cut entirely from my 3-in-1 prequel edit, and his cameo will confuse viewers as he doesn’t appear in the prequel edit).

Or you could, you know, edit Maul out. That said, you can’t go wrong leaving out such a boring movie.

Maybe I can replace him with Darth Vader? (using new footage, green screen, and rotoscoping)

But why would Vader head a criminal organization?

PM me for links to my edits; apparently, some feel shy about this.

Maybe Vader would be using Crimson Dawn as an unofficial arm of the Empire (until the senate is disbanded)?

Can projection yoda possibly be accomplished using his existing Geonosis material? Or in a Jedi temple? Basically if force projection yoda were established it would need a shot of real yoda meditating, so where is he?

Roto him out of his meditation scene on coruscant (“skywalker is in terrible pain”) and put him on dagobah.

Or on the asteroid platform at the end of Revenge.

At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Yoda is seen meditating just before Bail Organa enters the room. Maybe I can use that shot?

Doesn’t seem close enough to convey the intensity well enough, probably him in the shadows with the blinds is better but I wouldn’t say what’s best without knowing how much preexisting pensive yoda there is out there.

You mean from when Yoda is talking to Anakin earlier in the film?

What if Yoda was on Dagobah for the entire PT and the whole time it was a projection

Luke projecting in TLJ had a lot more importance than Yoda projecting in the prequels would. It has consequences, for example Luke can’t be killed by Kylo Ren because he’s not really there. Yoda projecting would just be an unimportant detail since it doesn’t have any tangible effect, and would probably undermine Luke’s projection in TLJ.

Don’t let me get in the way of anything, but I think projection Yoda is a bad idea.

Oh yeah it totally would undermine Luke’s whole reveal. But it’s still a dumb cool idea

In my upcoming edit for TLJ, Luke doesn’t project himself across the galaxy: he just raises his X-Wing from the water and flies to Crait. (This means I’ll have to make his hair and beard consistent with his other appearances and he’ll get his green saber back.)

Also, if possible, I’ll use a shot of Yoda reacting to the deaths of the Jedi during Order 66 to make it look like he’s getting weaker due to the projection, which could explain why he’s weaker in the OT compared to the PT (and not just old age).

There may be a compromise, an important point is that Yoda cannot be there, undermining force projection in general would be dead right if he was still on Geonosis basically only miles away from being there physically, in a hypothetical 3-in-1 the timing of events may be shifted putting Yoda in a position (maybe kashyyyk?) far away and restricted, unable to attend for some other plot circumstance. Yoda would have consequence as he senses Dooku besting Obi-Wan and Anakin, the foretold chosen one they’ve been watching, early drafts of Return of the Jedi had projections of Yoda facing the Emperor in some capacity so I don’t think it’s that far of a stretch, mileage may vary on whether it’s a cool parallel or a half baked rip off.

I really, really like this look on Obi-Wan.

I love that combo! It makes me think of different Jedi robe colorings from the earlier days of this thread when Bingowings was still pretty active. I remember there being an image of Mace with blue robes.

I’m sure this would be a pain in the ass to actually implement, but it would be really cool to see recolorings like this. It also makes me think of a lot of Doug Chiang’s early concept art for the prequels and how he gave the Jedi black uniforms that was more reminiscent to Luke’s ROTJ appearance than Obi-Wan’s ANH costume.

Do you think a recoloring like this would be feasible?

it is definitely possible! it would just be… a very big time commitment.

I’ll go ahead and do a test scene to see if it would be worth it.

Regarding your project snooker, I know you have been implementing a lot of the OT score into the movie, and you may have already done this or have picked a different piece of music, but I think it would cool to hear the beginning of the track “Tales of a Jedi Knight” when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon first take off their hoods at the beginning of the film. Feels like it would be a good place for it.
