That makes the part with the force ghosts at the end basically pointless and distracts from the main focal point of the scene, Luke saying goodbye to his father

It’s also directly lifted from Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.

Ghost

Ok, maybe not as cartoonishly so, but still.

Honestly I wasn’t thinking of it in the context of the completed scene. I was thinking more “man, that would be a cool shot”. Not sure how it could be smoothly integrate without messing with the flow.

Has anyone done a version of Anakin’s ghost that just appears as unmasked Vader? When it’s down to semantics I like to argue that it’s what his ghost should look like, though it obviously wouldn’t for the movie. Still, it would be fun to see.

Has anyone ever attempted to edit ANH or ESB to create some form of connection between Vader and Leia where he senses something with her in some shape or form?

If you are going to jam in Leia as his daughter, why not try to develop a relationship between her and her father? I have always thought that was one of the bigger weaknesses in making her Luke’s sister and Vader’s daughter at the last minute. The father-daughter relationship was never explored, nor developed properly to add another source of tension.

I personally have no idea how it could be done without seriously disrupting the movies, but some of you folks here are clearly creative enough to figure this out.

I’m working on an adaptation of the scene from the Vader comics where Vader finds out that Luke is his son. I’ve hired a voice actor so far, and am working on compiling footage that can realistically fit into ESB. My idea is that it’ll play out at the start of ESB, but end on Boba leaving Vader in silence. Then, either the end of ESB or the beginning of RotJ will show the scene with the flashbacks, cementing the previous reveal.

This is an excellent idea - having the comic book adaptation inserted into the movie. It makes it more clear later when Vader is talking to Sidious later on that he is deceiving him. Boba is also with an expanded role and screen time for a character that would in later movies and shows have his role expanded.

I would be hesitant using flashbacks. Flashbacks were not used thorough out the OT nor PT. Personally, I like the use of flashbacks, but it would stand out in a Star Wars movie. However, perhaps you could incorporate it in a way where it does not feel out of place. I am looking forward to what you accomplish with this.

Would it be possible to have Obi-Wan say “Your father would’ve wanted you to have this…”? If so, it could be a simple solution to the whole thing.

I feel like that would be by far the most natural and sensible option. I imagine it could be done if someone found the right source.

I like Hal’s “I wanted…” but I think it gives Ben a bit too much agency, perhaps more than he should at that point. Though it probably works better even than the original in the context of the Kenobi show, if you’re into that (I’m definitely not but what can you do).

A very radical change, I think no one has ever proposed something like this: keeping the original ending scene of ROTJ (Yub Nub), but with Hayden Christensen instead of Sebastian Shaw.

I think that’s technically what’s written in my notes, if only because I’m saving Victory Celebration for TRoS.

As I’ve been watching Better Call Saul, I got inspired and thought this would be a fun concept experiment placing the Jabba and Han scene from the ANH Special Edition at the beginning of ROTJ. (In the form of a flashback to setup the following events) I felt it would flow better here than it did previously. This also tests for a potential mini series edit.

For a movie edit (or at least anything trying to fit with the traditional style of Star Wars) it wouldn’t work 'cause Lucas Star Wars don’t do flashbacks or time skips, but with something like the mini-series idea where it puts a different spin on the format it could work. If you want it to be more like the BCS flashbacks I’d recommend crushing the blacks a bit more.

A little rough but I thought I would try my hand at this.

I realize there isn’t a lot of difference between each of these, but I think they each have something that is better than another. Maybe with a bit of deepening and some filtering these could be useful.

I don’t like the clone body idea. I prefer having his original body survive.

But I think it just raises too many questions. How did his body survive exploding TWICE? How did he survive being in the vacuum of space for who knows how long? How did the Sith Cultists know he was alive, and find his body amid all the wreckage? It makes much more sense for Palpatine to have a contingency plan involving clones, like in the novelization.

Naboo is known for its use of decoys and Palpatine is from Naboo. I was half expecting George to prank us in the PT by revealing Sidious and Palpatine to be 2 people after all. Or maybe one of them a droid.

So, how did this go? I was thinking of hiring my own voice actor to read Vader’s comic book lines before I saw this post. There’s a fan film adaptation that’s already good enough for me, minus Vader’s voice not being the best.

Also, clearly the best place to put this is as a post-credit scene on the Holiday Special.

With all the Ahsoka content out would it be possible to take older Hayden and make a new ROTJ ghost with it?

‘Star Wars: De-Incest Edition’

Leia is not Luke’s brother- snip out all the pieces of dialogue that say so.

At the top of my head only includes: Some of the stuff Ghost Obi-Wan tells Luke on Dagobah, some of what Luke says to Leia on Endor, and the baby Leia in Episode III (which I know isn’t OT, but still).

None of this would diminish Leia’s role in any of the films and would remove the incest-y details.

Move along, move along.
