Hi Smudger
I’d be really grateful for the link to this please? This edit sounds great so I’d love to check it out.
Many thanks
Thanks for the PM smudger 😉
As always, i think u did an amazing work. I consider it even better than your TCW edits because of less fillers. I thought u left too much in those edits. Here, i think u found a Perfect balance.
And I like what you did with the post cred scene as well 😉
One issue though. I dont like the mandalorian logo on the opening crawl. Doesnt feel Star Wars to me. I think I should have l eft a classicAl SW logo with a subtitle.
Anyway, great job Man.
Preferred saga:
EI (DVD version) • EII (Blu-Ray) • CW (DVD) • TCW (smudger9’s fanedit) • ROTS (Octorox’s Extended version) •RO, Solo (originals) • Andor (smudger9’s episode I and EddieDean’s ep. 3-4) • OT (2004’s DVD) • Mando (s01: smudger9’s fanedit, s02: original) • TBOBF (smudger9’s) • TFA, TLJ (originals) • TROS - HAL’s edit
Thanks for the PM smudger 😉

Thanks for the feedback.
Regarding the logo, I tried initially with the classic logo and a subtitle but I didn’t like the look of it so I went for something based off the official logo.
I agree that this is better than my clone wars edits, mainly because the material lent itself more to a movie edit. The other great thing is that it made the weakest episode of the season a lot better by demonstrating how crucial it was to the story.
Regarding the cutting. I had to be bold to get the runtime down. I really didn’t want to cut the Jawa scenes because they were my favourite thing in the show, but it had to be done.

Well, after watching the BluRay version of the edit, Smudger has really outdone himself.
When watching the movie you can instantly tell it’s been edited by a pro. The love and attention to detail is real class and it really feels like you’re watching a true Star Wars movie. The way the transitions are implemented and it moves to the next episode is seamless.
If this had been released in cinemas as is, I probably would have went back and watched it two to three times.
It’s a shame we lost the Jawa scene but I understand why it had to be cut. It doesn’t really add to the overall story and Smudger was adamant on getting the edit to a proper movie length at 2.5 hours so I understand the sacrifice.
I highly recommend watching the edit even if you have seen Season 1 as it feels like a real sequel to ROTJ. Well done Smudger, you’re hard work has really created something awesome!

Thanks for the kind words. The Jawas were a sad loss, but the edit works better without them.
I’m already looking forward to editing together season 2.

This edit seems really interesting. I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet, but I hope I will soon.
What I’m worried about, though, is the removal of the Tatooine episode. From what I’ve heard, it seems like the events of that episode will play a key role in the plot of season 2, so I’m worried that cutting that episode will create contradictions with the next season.
Other than that, great job. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:

I’m not too worried about that. The only plot thread left from the tatooine episode was the identity of the mystery person at the end. There will probably be sufficient explanation provided in the new season to cover that. If not it could be covered in the opening crawl or a flashback. I managed to cut the whole of the first trip to Nevarro without impacting the storyline.

Watched this earlier and enjoyed it a lot. I too would prefer a more ‘classic’ crawl (I feel the same about Rogue One and Solo) and while I do miss some moments, it’s true this edit works without. Great job!
So I downloaded the bluray image about a week and a half ago.
Quick and easy (only took about an hour).
Life got in the way as it tends to do.
Finally got around to burning it this morning and I’m about half way through the show right now.
This is fantastic Smudg.
Awesome work!!!

This sounds like a great way to get ready for season 2!
A link would be most appreciated.
I’d love to check this out, been dying to see a skilled editor mold this into a film.

I had a chance to watch this over the weekend. Nice job smudger9! Excellent work condensing this down to the essential character arcs.
Would it be at all possible to get a link. Sounds like a great way to catch up on the big ideas before season 2!
Loved your clone wars edits, I’d really like a chance to check this one out!!
Would love a link, this looks perfect for an abridged viewing before the second season comes out.
Interested to see if a decent editor could make this flow as a movie.
