Recoloring the armor with new dubs is the best idea (thanks for volunteering, AbramsPt!), but I have a feeling it will require more than just a power mask in AE. It will probably require fully rotoscoping each shot in Mocha. That would be a ton of work for what, for me, would not be a huge payoff.

I’m not even sure how I feel about completely removing Gwendoline Christie’s voice. I can try a test in the future, though, when I have more time. Right now, work is very busy!

What would be an appropriate recolouring? I imagine technical limitations will be the major decision maker there, but being ignorant of what those might look like I’d vote for black, with hints of green, effectively applying the colour scheme of the Death Trooper armour from Rogue One to Phasma’s armour. Looks like we’re not going to see black troopers in the sequel trilogy, so it’d make this new trooper distinct as a clearly important trooper while still being consistent with other imperial schemes.

I think either red or gold works. I mean, the First Order sometimes uses the color red, like the red banner in Hux’s speech or even the new Sith Troopers in IX. And as for gold, as the other user pointed out, there IS a golden Stormtrooper in Resistance.

That gold-armored stormtrooper is sick. It would make such a great cosplay.

But I feel like this idea is totally counterintuitive. You basically would be putting in all of this work to replace Phasma with ANOTHER badass Stormtrooper, and then you never get it see it fight either! You’d just be doing the same thing TFA did in the first place.

Yeah, there’s no great solution to Phasma in TLJ other than going back in time and convincing Johnson not to include her at all.

One of the options I think was considered a while back was removing Phasma from the end of TFA, so the Finn/Phasma arc starts in TFA then ends in TLJ, rather than starting and ending in TFA only to restart and re-end in TLJ. You then have the practicality of an alternative to bring the shields down in TFA, though.

What about the deleted scene of Finn and Phasma’s fight where Finn calls out Plasma as a traitor for lowering the shields on SB in front of the stormtroopers. Phasma then proceeds to shoot all the stormtroopers. Could this be incorporated as it kinda continues what occured on TFA?

Unfortunately, no. It’s really unfinished, and would look jarring next to the theatrical footage.

Here’s a suggestion: Luke should have his lightsaber from Return of the Jedi on Crait, because the whole “Luke is a projection” thing was very predictable (mainly due to the blue lightsaber, the same design from the flashbacks, and the fact that he didn’t get hurt by the AT-ATs). So, giving Luke his lightsaber from Return of the Jedi would make the whole projection thing less predictable. What do you think?

I used to feel that way, but came around to the idea that his use of the same lightsaber that he rejected at the start of the film has a great deal of symbolic/thematic value.

But there is an edit that does this - ForceGhostRecon’s. Although he’s no longer present on the forum, others in the thread for his edit should be able to send you a link via PM.

Not to mention that the last time Luke used his green lightsaber he was about to attack his nephew. It’s probably best that he uses the blue one.

Adam, may I congratulate you (and also Hal9000 for some of the heavy liftings) on such an amazing achievement!! Watching over this movie again (despite the haters), it’s really not as bad as what they say. I enjoyed it the first time I saw it and in light of the problems, trimming down so many unnecessary moments really made this a stronger offering. I’ll get round to Hal’s “Legendary” edit too someday but for now, I’ll be watching this over and over. Bravo, sir!

P.S. - I actually have no issues with Luke’s smirk drinking scene but it’s no biggie really. Well done!! 😃
