I’m hoping we see something like Vader on May 4th.
Vader and Kenobi in a duel is the money shot that will get people talking and more hyped for this.

The grand inquisitor looks so fat. I hope we’ll have another tv show to see him getting on a diet to look exactly the way he does in Rebels…

Have him in a Planet Fitness commercial with Vader looking over him, “Let’s go Grand Inquisitor!”

The dark side of the force is a pathway to many delicacies some consider to be unhealthy.
Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

I don’t think he looks fat, and honestly I wouldn’t care if he was.
As long as he can soar through the air on the wings of his spinning double bladed red lightsaber, twirling, twirling towards freedom, all else will pale into insignificance.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
I don’t think he looks fat (actor Rupert Friend definitely isn’t) but that armour looks weirdly chunky compared to his pretty skintight costume from Rebels. Surely that’s only added difficulty for the actor and costume artists.
He also seems to have a cape now, which I won’t complain about. Capes are cool.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.
I’m sure Anchorhead will be very glad to hear Deborah Chow say this in the Obi-wan article for Total Film magazine: “I really wanted to get off Tatooine”
Me too, Deborah.

Finally. We’ve been in the Solar System Far Far Away for 40+ years. Time to step out.
“New trailer today. #ObiWanKenobi” from the https://twitter.com/obiwankenobi/status/1521746447200305153
It is not much of a surprise, but it is nice to have confirmation there will be a full trailer for this later today.
I like that there hasn’t been too much hype or PR about this show. Only 3 weeks to go.
The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.
Vader will be in this new trailer obviously.

Neat.

New poster featuring Vader:
I feel like he’s slightly smaller than I’m used to, likely because Hayden Christensen is actually inside the suit this time and isn’t incredibly tall like the actors they usually get to wear it.
Also, I really loved this trailer. For whatever reason, every time I watched the previous trailer it made me less excited, but this one is much better. It offers more while still keeping a lot of things a big secret. I’m really looking forward to seeing that friction between Obi-wan and Owen Lars, Reva seems to be a great villain, there are even more visually appealing shots thrown in there. Even the Grand Inquisitor looks better, although that might have something to do with the camera being far away from him this time.
“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”
Vader is like I have the high ground now Kenobi.
This poster has two suns, just like Tatooine, does the duel happen there? Or is this two different planets?
I have to admit it looks fun, like Rebels fun, and I should probably not expect more since it would still be far better than all live action tv series Disney offered us. Might be somehow good after all, fingers crossed.
Like you trained his father sounds a bit bitchy jajaja but, yeah, it might be the only “bridging gaps” material I find interesting with this show, since I never felt that the OT contained any loose ends to need 2 Ben v Vader duels before “it’s been a long time” (well, just 10 years now…).
Star Wars has become such a narrative mess which does no longer make much continuity sense (and each movie/tv series trying to fix whatever happened previously is laughable: it’s a Saga, you don’t need to explain every single details ffs) that I’ll just try to enjoy seeing actors I like playing characters I care for. I highly doubt it will do a better job than ROTS as a direct prequel, but I don’t really care, I like ROTS a lot and it’s not perfect either, so I’ll leave the Ben show its chance.
(yep, I want a fanedit titled “The Ben Show”).
So long 🙌
Rebels’ brand of mostly lighthearted fun is not at all what I would have expected for this series. I assumed it would have been the most dark live action series yet, but apparently the age rating is 9+, which is lower than the ratings for Mando and Boba Fett. Might be a mix-up with the rating for the trailer, who knows. But either way it shouldn’t affect story quality and if the series feels like Rebels, I’m the last person who’s gonna complain!
“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”
Honestly, I’m kind of glad that the show is going to be a new canon, Rebels/Fallen Order-tied in, large-scale adventure, probably full of ludicrous retcons and continuity stretching.
Doing anything with Obi-Wan in this time period that’s actually worth making six episodes of TV about is immediately going to violate the previous implication that he basically just sat in his hut for twenty years (and people who aren’t okay with that will have already resolved to exclude the show from their headcanon). And if you can’t avoid crossing that threshold, why hold back and just tiptoe over it? While I’m sure you could write a neat smaller-scale story like the ones in the comics or Legends, it’d hardly be an event worth bringing Ewan back for after 17 years.
At least a maximalist load of implausible fanservice featuring every possible character in this time period will definitely be stimulating and interesting, even if it’s terrible (if Ahsoka appears I will cackle).
I have a lot of [perhaps naive] optimism for this show based entirely on the strength of the behind the scenes team.
No other live action Star Wars show yet has had a team this good. On Mando and BOBF, Filoni, Favreau, and Rodriguez were all varying degrees of indie/fanboy/amateur. Star Wars to them was an action figure playset for fanservice and innovative technology.
not a Jedi apologist or a Jedi hater but a secret third thing
You know, Better Call Saul is the example I point to when somebody asks for a “good” prequel to a franchise. That alone makes me excited for this show (in addition to other elements).
I know it probably won’t happen, but a Liam Neeson voice cameo (as Jinn’s ghost) would be nice.
Honestly, I think it will happen. Liam Neeson said recently he’d only return to Star Wars if it was a movie, as he’s apparently always been a bit of a “snob” about the small screen. This might be convincing if he hadn’t appeared twice in The Clone Wars and also hadn’t JUST appeared in an episode of Derry Girls. I feel like he’s saying that to throw us off.
“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”
Do you all really think he would tell his friend Ewan McGregor sorry my friend I’m not going to be in your own show? Seriously??
You really think Liam Neeson would say, I could care less about a nice little paycheck from Disney just for showing up for one day of work and getting to hang out with my friend Ewan.
He’s in the show, it’s just for that WOW! It’s Qui-Gon surprise. They know fans have wanted to see him, they are not going to disappoint us.
Liam Neeson is acting when they start asking him about the series. He’s a great actor.
I’m a big Better Call Saul fan myself and I have faith in Deborah Chow, but these SW projects have their own challenges and the visuals demand so much already. From what I’ve seen so far I am actually disappointed that even for a shorter length series it still carries more of a television feel than cinematic, they might be pulling their punches and each part will have some wow factor at least once per episode, but production value wise I’m not sure in the end if I wouldn’t have preferred a movie. Maybe I’m setting standards too high, it’s difficult enough for any show to achieve and maintain theatrical quality polish, in the case of an action packed sci-fi fantasy I think we might have already seen Disney hit the ceiling of what they can accomplish in live action, director aside.
“The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.” - DV
Agreed with that. Visually, it’s noticeably not movie quality which is what I would have expected for a project like this. However if I like the writing I can’t see myself minding that in the slightest. I have faith in Deborah Chow, faith in Chung-hoon Chung, and faith in the actors… it all depends on the script for me.
“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”
If Qui-Gon shows up, I hope he starts breaking a few arms Taken style.

I like this show but its main flaws are qite backed in its prequel nature. It’s just it’s well done and fun to watch so I don’t mind much, but I don’t get it sold properly as a prequel.
