The Force Awakens was shot on 35mm in an IMAX aspect ratio. Limited screenings of the IMAX ratio release were shown in select theaters. Does anyone know if there is a scan out there of this version of the film?

Only the Falcon desert chase scene was filmed and shown in Open Matte, and then only in certain screenings and later a few broadcasts.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
Sadly, not that I know of. That open matte Falcon scene was amazing! I don’t know why didn’t make it a branching option on the disc (or at least a special feature). (there is that compressed capture of the partial 1.90:1 Xenon Digital IMAX open matte, but I’m not sure it is even full HD and it is a far cry from the full IMAX open matte, not the same at all)
I saw it in IMAX 6P Laser 3D, just mindblowing.
So, a version of this does exist, I believe Adywan made it. It used an HDTV broadcast that was open matte for the IMAX sequence, so it’s not the full 4:3 aspect ratio, but still opens up to 1:85:1. DM me if interested.
