Take it easy, Cowclops. I wasn't accusing you of anything. Put whatever logo you want on it.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

cowclops, how does one go about obtaining copies of your new version? sorry for sounding dim but I can't quite figure out if you've actually finished this yet or you are still ongoing and nearly done. I can reimburse you to cover postage costs etc as necessary.

I think that's the question on everyone's mind... is there an ETA?

I will let everyone know when they're ready, please be patient. As far as when they will be done is up to Cowclops-I will let him field that question.

Actually, I'm doing the menus now, and I like them. They will have "fmv window" style chapter select screens, and will generally work like a professional DVD even if the animation isn't quite as cool as say, the Lord of the Rings dvds, it will nonetheless not be static junk with text that looks like it was scribbled in poop by a 3 year old. I'm about halfway done with the menus for A New Hope.

Cowclops, I can't WAIT to see these.......

Also If I may... Can I get the details to this set? I'm working on a set of covers for your next release and it would be great to have the details..

Will any screenshots or clips be available? I'd love to compare them to the other versions out there (including the original TR47).

Screen shots should be posted shortly-I will let Cowclops handle that as he has the equipment and software to do so far better than I can.

i am confused... if this is a copy of the original trilogy, why would you include a screencap from the special edition in the menu?

LOL! Keen observation!
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

Say, are you guys planning on selling these on dual layer DVD-r to ensure space for proper video and sound? I'd gladly pay extra for those.

DL media is too expensive to use and is unecessary.

A) What makes you think thats a cap from special edition? Those look like plastic models to me.

B) For fucks sake raised to the 20th power, the video fits JUST FINE on a single layer disc with menus and everything. No we will not be offering it on dual layer, except I made a dual layer version anyway to compare the Q levels of each disc and show how unnecessary it is. It goes like this:

1. Soft video is easy to compress
2. Laserdiscs are softer than DVD
3. Thus laserdisc video is easier to compress than "usual" dvd material.
4. Thus shut the hell up. QED.

C) The SW and ESB DVDs are done, now I just need to finish RotJ and the extras disc, and i'll send that stuff off to TR47.

D) I hate doing screen shots. When the stuff is done, whoever wants to make the screen shots can do them.

Thats an original motion control shot.

The SE changed two shots, a shot of them flying over, and a shot of them togeth and made the two shots into one CGI pass shot.

the color timing is indicative of the original shot, as is the angle.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to hit a nerve. Seeing as I know shit about shit on capturing and compiling DVD's. Rest assured I totally respect and thank you both for your efforts and think you should be paid per disc/time.

That is not a screencap from the special edition, it's the original version if you obviously
look at the picture.

One give away is if you look closely where are the CG heads in the cockpits?

Where is the CG X-wing that skims past the orange moon?

How come the models don't look CG?

Heya folks, I'm something of a long-time lurker here, and I just wanted to pop my head in and thank everyone involved for all of their continuing preservation efforts. Keep up the good work!

Hey!

I'm a bit of a lurker here, but I'm going to change that. I recently grabbed Rikter's torrents of the TR47 transfer, and I must say, it blew my mind! I love being able to watch the same Star Wars I grew up with. I like the 2004 releases, but it's great to have a copy to look back at. Thanks for all your hard work and, after reading through this whole thread, I can't wait for Cowclops' next release!

Thanks all!
