A little late but I did really like the new SW logo. Great work, but I think I prefer it without the glow.... What 3D program are you using?

this may sound kind of dumb, but what was the new logo for again?

Well it all really started with this:

haraldo23 said:

You know what would be radical? A new crawl. I'm not talking about changing the color, but a new way for those letters to appear. They can still fade out in the horizon, but make them appear in a different way. You know, like, in Spider-Man 3 in the opening credits they appeared and faded like sand in a wind? Well, maybe something like that but with fire or something.

Or, you know, how those ships appear from light-speed? Maybe every next line of the crawl should appear like that. I don't really know how to put this idea in words.

Then he realised what he was trying to explain was what if the opening graphics of SW were a bit like Superman The Movie,  But then someone misunderstood him and created an opening title sequence exactly like Superman, music and all.

Slightly off topic but it would be a cool move to get Dave Prowse to redub Jar-Jar thus re-inserting his voice into the saga and getting him involved in the PT.

I wonder if anyone knows how to contact him?

He might do it anonymously if someone donated enough to one of his charities.

Yeah! Considering the failed fan efforts to save starwars it might be a good idea that can help the people that brought star wars in life and they were treated like carbage by lucas..

you know.. makes sense

actually i made the mockup in response  to my Idea/Post that i posted BEFORE Haraldo23:

i proposed in the radical prequels thread to have the crawl text replaced with something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyE1V6Ac49Q&feature=related though obviously withought the moving background and perhaps the voice over intro could be something from Ep III (perhaps Obi-Wan/Yoda/Qui-Gon saying something that wouldnt spoil the Darth Vader/Lukes Father angle) and maybe having instead of the destruction of Krypton it could be something else (Jedi Temple or Anakin burning up, or something)

though i admit this would be very plagiarist and perhaps too un-starwars and hard to do

here is a rough mockup that worked on for the past three days (the music is temp)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIJekL2tPDc

notice that i said: "(the music is temp)"

here is an updated to my star wars with superman titles mock-up:

Like before: the music is temporary

and its still rough so perhaps someone with more experience could do it better then i can....

Is this the carbage you are looking for?:

Or is this it?:

Fishman: even knowing the music is for SUPERMAN, that was still surprisingly effective... maybe it's just John Williams being so damn good in the '70's and '80's.  If anything, I would play on the SUPERMAN credits and either have the title STAR WARS pop up at roughly the same time as the superman symbol does (at 1:30) or just have it appear larger and recede away, as opposed to zooming to the background and then fading.  "STAR WARS" should fill the screen ala the BEN HUR title.

Also, you have that spot from 1:06 to 1:12 that has no music; maybe do a test where the high point ends on the blockade runner explosion.

Carbage obviously means junk Carbohydrates (greasy deep fried potato, Pringles, dough-nuts that sort of thing).

Angel has invented a very clever compound word to say that Lucas just gets fat by compulsively stuffing himself with the masticated remains of other people's talent.

Not bad for someone for who English is not their first language.

the reason i had a point with no music is because the video was based off of the opening of superman returns:

^lol, I misread "carbage" as "cabbage."

I thought for a moment he had saw the Jersey Shore South Park Episode.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Awesomeness.  Pure awesomeness.   If I were to make any extra suggestions, I could see adding a star field behind the opening paragraph, so when it segways to the Tatooine shot, it blends right in (so the stars behind the scroll are moving from bottom to top).  I would also try a version deleting the vocals and just having the SUPERMAN music and audio FX, though I could go either way.  Otherwise, it makes me want to see the rest of the credits!

I also like how the "Krypton" theme peaks when the Star Destroyer completes its run above us and fills the screen.  The music flows really well with the action on screen.

That really does look cool and flows well with the sound (obviously it would need the reinstatement of the black bars during the Tantive explosion to be really effective).

It might work better as a trailer than an actual title sequence (in the mode of the SR last son of Krypton trailer).

Luke looking up at the twin suns being the equivalent of Superman looking down on the Earth.

I don't mean to be a git but is anyone actually suggesting doing an edit of SE with Superman music?

I thought the original idea was to have a Superman style opening in a SE?

If not, as good as this is (some of your best work Fishmanlee) it really doesn't fit on this thread anymore.

I suggest you keep working on it and showcase the final results over on your thread and the half dozen other video curio threads.

But don't drop the ball with this one, it's really evocative in a pleasantly odd way of a big chunk of my childhood (if you could squeeze CE3K in there too I'd probably regenerate).

the music was for the viewer to make the connection (in other words it was temporary), obviously to make it work someone would have to have a composer write similarly styled star wars music for the credits

I always felt proton torpedoes weren't shown launching the important fatal blows to the Death Star in the original version of "A New Hope" due to budgetary or time constraints.  And I hoped they would be shown in the SE or in the "Revisited" fan edit/reconstruction, but they weren't.

New shot(s) of them launching would give a great reference point for the difficulty of the shot on the target as well as show where the heck they're coming from.  So that's my challenge to everyone out there creating new edits of the movie.

Oh, and replace those dopey shots of TV switcher controls for the Death Star firing sequences. Takes you right out of the movie.

Idea in motion.

Back in some posts i ve said that id like to see vader be on something grander rather just walks like a pet in the corridors of the death star.

taking this shot from Flynn i can imagine replacing some interior to match with the death star ones and have vader meditating and then he leaves.

A nice pov IMO that shows some more bits of the exterior of the death star's dark side and brake the poor close sets with an opened one keeping the armored feeling.
