Well, if you're putting swear words just for the sake of having them, then of course it sounds stupid. The same thing with everything else I mentioned.

It's all about imagination, if you imagine it right, then you'll understand.

If you can't imagine it right then of course it turns out into -

You literally just told us we should add swear words because you like them, which sounds just like "for the sake of having them". What would be legitimate, especially in ANH?

I can't really give you an example because then you will think about how it would sound in ANH [the version] that you know. But if there was a more violent Star Wars version - with blood and stuff like that - the mood of everything would change. And that mood and atmosphere change would allow you to also change the characters and their dialogs. And then - in those dialogs - you could put swear words just where you feel they are necessary.

The only part I thought swearing should have been used was in ROTJ, when Solo says "Threepio, you tell that slimy piece of....worm-ridden filth he'll get no such pleasure from us"......

What you're describing is a completely different film. Are you thinking more of a remake?

You know what would be radical? A new crawl. I'm not talking about changing the color, but a new way for those letters to appear. They can still fade out in the horizon, but make them appear in a different way. You know, like, in Spider-Man 3 in the opening credits they appeared and faded like sand in a wind? Well, maybe something like that but with fire or something.

Or, you know, how those ships appear from light-speed? Maybe every next line of the crawl should appear like that. I don't really know how to put this idea in words.

But sand...fire? something more spacey for the sake of space fantasy thing?

I like the crawls they way they are.

still TMBTM gave us a nice taste of how an alternative crawl can be.

I remember that in ESB they ahd the crawl be blue over an icy landscape.

Thats more like it?

i proposed in the radical prequels thread to have the crawl text replaced with something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyE1V6Ac49Q&feature=related though obviously withought the moving background and perhaps the voice over intro could be something from Ep III (perhaps Obi-Wan/Yoda/Qui-Gon saying something that wouldnt spoil the Darth Vader/Lukes Father angle) and maybe having instead of the destruction of Krypton it could be something else (Jedi Temple or Anakin burning up, or something)

though i admit this would be very plagiarist and perhaps too un-starwars and hard to do

You see how those letters disappear with a little visual effect? What if every line in the opening crawl would do the same but backwards. At first it's kind of blurry but then you can see it clearly.

I think the language changes and title changes are "radical" ideas, definitely. They shouldn't have to be something you're particularly good at. It's not your thread.
