Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!) — Page 262

Im again shaking my head at the possible further changes made for the blurays.  I also voted "not going to buy" on the poll and will do so until I get the OOT on bluray.  Im celebrating by watching the OOT "faces" on VHS now, and Im content with that.  Im still amazed that so many people will buy whatever Luca$ throws at them.  I mean, what happens when they throw a SW movie party?

Host: "So which version are we watching tonite y'all?  I have version 2.5 with 50% more farting eeopie's and anakin says 'zippadeedoodah' instead of 'yippee', or version 3.0 with barking banthas and jabba has pearly white teeth, or version 4.0 with the tap dancing rancor with top hat and baton, or version 4.5 where the endor forrest battle  has the ewoks shooting and throwing eggs and pies rather than rocks and arrows, because thats what george originally wanted"

If there was only a way to convince people to stop drinking the lucasfilm kool-aid.

"There's no cluster of midiclorians that controls my destiny!" -Han Solo, from a future revision of ANH

It's just another example of people tossing out meaningless hyperbolic catch-phrases and terminology they don't understand to make things sound scary or bad.  I unwittingly get enough of that just walking by when someone is watching the 'news', and I'd really appreciate it if it would stop being done here.

Also, some of our more perspective-lacking members might want to seriously think about getting some kind of counseling or treatment.  Willful failure to restore and release a series of films <<<<<<<<< war crimes.  Seriously—stow it with the depressive crap already.

I agree.  As a petition\discussion forum, we are in a different place than we were several years ago.  We're no longer a community that only other Star Wars nerds know about (whether they support us or not).  We are getting mention in respected blogs and on-line magazines.

Our community has also given rise to a now published and respected Star Wars historian - whom the  Library Of Congress now directs people to for Star Wars fact checking.

With this release of the Blu-rays and the problems & lies surrounding them, there is new acknowledgment of our cause, as well as a spike in outspoken celebrities and mainstream bloggers calling attention to us (sometimes directly).

I'm disappointed that interested new members may come here looking for usable information and instead see bickering,  Lucas-bashing, and  trolling.  We can do better.  We need to do better if things are ever going to change. Constructive, truthful, emotionally-driven criticism is one thing, and I'm all for it.  Comparing Lucas to a Nazi is just going to get us ridiculed - or worse - ignored.

Personally, I'd like to see the original  theatrical versions released - not who can post the best insult or the most obnoxious tall building picture.  Save it for Thunderdome Off-Topic.

I agree,  Anchorhead.   My only caveat would be to say,  "look where petitioning got us":

True, but we're getting a louder voice these days.  If he won't listen to us, he may listen to a two star rating on Amazon or heat from more than just a fellow director or two.

Um, no.  Please elaborate...
Some think this is a subtle reference to Adywan's Revisited Project, but I think they just happened to chose similar wording.

George himself has shown us the way.

When people politely ask to see the original versions fully restored and available to legitimately purchase he says, "No! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!".

So when he trundles out another inaccurately advertised set of his currently preferred versions without what we want inside we just have to say, "No! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" back only louder and in concert with each other.

If the films are his to do whatever he wants with, our money is ours, our industry is ours.

If you really want to buy these sets my advice is don't do it now.

There will be plenty of second hand or reduced price options if you wait a while.

Buying these sets now, full price sends Lucas the wrong message.

Duh.  I didn't catch the obvious quote regarding the sw.com header.  Nah, I think they chose similar wording.

I'm waiting until Bill Hunt reviews it and then I'm quite sure I STILL won't want the set.

If you find yourself miffed or pleasantly surprised by how ROTS is presented please report back HotRod.

Fans of PT films deserve value for money too so if that film has annoying flaws in presentation it might be useful information for people still deliberating about what to do.

Similarly if some the films are really well presented when others are not that is also an issue of interest.

Thing is, if I had all 6 films stored on my Sky HD box, I doubt I'd buy the boxset, but as I haven't and I'm getting the whole set for £20, it's no great shakes!!

And I've not watched the PT in a long time, so I'm kinda looking forward to it!!

Yeah... gleefully looking forward to watching Revenge of the Sith.  That's probably the strongest case against ever doing drugs. =P

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I canceled my Amazon Pre-order. I'm a bit sad about it, but I guess it's for the best. I haven't watched A SINGLE STAR WARS MOVIE IN OVER A YEAR AND A HALF in anticipation of this. I haven't watched any of the HD TV broadcasts either...not even 30 seconds of one. Could someone please link me to where I need to go to pick up HD "fan edits". Is there a true 1080i/p copy of all the movies?? :(

By the way, I just kinda started posting out of nowhere.  I joined the forum about a week or two ago; have been a SW fan since 1977 and I'm glad to be here.  Hello to everyone!
