Are there any comparisons out there (been looking, can’t find any) that side-by-side these '19 blu-ray tranfers with the '11 transfers. I know most people are primarily interested in dissecting the 4K presentation, but these sets do appear to be the only way to get the new transfers on blu, and I’m very curious to see how these new transfers look on that format, especially compared to 2011’s entry.

I saw that, but it’s not comparing the '19 blu-rays and the '11 blu-rays, which is what I’m specifically looking for. I know they’re not the same transfers, so I’m curious to see what (if any) improvements in PQ there are on that format from release-to-release.

I’m interested in the same thing. I’ve seen a few of the HDR to SDR conversions posted, different but claimed to be correct (and thanks to those that have shared them). But I’d like to see the official 2020 SDR 1080p disc compared to the 2011.
People have spoken favorably of the 1080p compared to UHD. And whether that’s due to their hardware not displaying the HDR well enough or the mastering, it should be a more straight forward comparison to see the two SDR products.
(…)Basically TMP had no “Digital Intermediate” as we know it. Shots were digitized as needed, altered and then printed back to film. So the “master negative” of phantom is a cut negative comprising entirely of digital filmouts (with one exception). The resolution of these scans is most definitely 2K and the visual effects rendered at 2K or possibly less depending on the complexity of the scene.
Indeed, the first movie with a full “Digital Intermediate” during its creation process was “O brother where art you” (2000), so one year after TPM.

Looks like they’re definitely from the included blu-ray, and not the 4K UHD, according to this italicized note in the review proper.
The included screenshots are sourced from the included 1080p Blu-ray disc, which has itself received a fairly drastic makeover compared to the 2011 20th Century Fox release.
So if I’m reading that right, EVERY screencap on that site for that review of Star Wars: A New Hope is taken from the '19 transfer that’s on the blu-ray, and not the UHD.
Hopefully they do that for the rest of the OT and PT, too!

At a glance, AotC looks like it may be somewhere between the DVD and 2011 grades. Less blue than the latter, and not as saturated as the former. And more contrast.

Well I’ve taken a quick look at the Disney+ ANH and AotC on a 4K device in SDR and wow, the color really does look great. At launch, the device simply failed to display the HDR copies properly.
My disc copies should arrive tomorrow. I was thinking of doing a first SE eatchthrough in many years, but I’m not sure I’d want to watch the HDR version. I’d love to apply the HD color to the UHD image, but I’m not sure how feasible this is.

There are versions available from the group SWTYBLZ which are 2160p 10bit SDR, created by applying a tonemapping algorithm (“using tripple mixed Hable-Reinhard-JJ per scene+frame analysis algorithm”) to the HDR UHD Blurays. They’re not quite 100% identical to the official 1080p SDR colours, but they’re certainly very close, and are very useful if your UHD Blurays don’t look right on your TV for whatever reason.
