msycamore is my sub expert, and this is what he gave me, I thought yellow was for the SE's not the Original Theatrical, hopefully he will see this and chime in.

IIRC, the subs have always been yellow. That isn't new to the SE.
Dr. M
Well I just looked in msycamore's sub thread here,
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Greedo-Jabba-subtitles-theatrical-positioning-and-font-script-video-clip-added/topic/11463/
and the images he shows they are all white, but if yellow is what they are "supposed" to be then I we will change them, but I want msycamore to comment first, like I said, he is my goto guy on the subs.
It depends what subs you all are talking about, the opening crawl has yellow subs but the so called huttese alien language in all films were always white in the cinema, and I'm no sub expert d_j, just an observer. ;)
We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.
Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Wait, really? My memory must be going. Was that true for the laserdiscs as well?
Dr. M
You are my expert dude LOL, I don't have the patience like you do with these.

Yes, they were all white in the theater, even in the prequels. But I don't know about the different laserdiscs though.

Ok, sorry if this caused any confusion. I just looked it up, and I think you're right, white is the correct way to go. Of course... they were changed yellow later for the SE, how could I have forgotten that... But better to have talked about it now before your V3 is getting released than after its release when it may be too late.
By the way, dark_jedi, when will you be able to release, at least maybe the first movie of your great work - your V3?
DJ, what's the latest in terms of progress? Thanks.
Progress has actually stopped until g-force releases his Jedi script, plus I still have to sync the theatrical and home remix LD audio for Jedi, but the other 2 are pretty much ready to rock and roll.
In the meantime I have actually been finishing up the SE V2 set and now my new Return of The Living Dead project LOL.

The SE alien subs were also white in the theaters, at least in the US.

Yes, that's what I meant. But in the SE, they were later changed to yellow for the home releases if I am not mistaken. That's what originally confused me.
DJ could you make your finished V3 ESB and ROTJ available now, since they are obviously done. Also you have a PM.
ALL 3 will be released together, and the V3 set will go to the people that helped me out by sending some cake boxes of Verbatim DL's first, because I had NO DL's to test, and these NEED to be tested well before being released, they have a lot of extra audio on them and ESB also has a bonus, so I need these to be right before I upload.

WOAHwoahwoah!!! What's this about a ROTLD project?!
Just wanted to take this moment to say that on the 1977-1981 technicolor dye print that I saw in Baltimore this year, Greedo's subs were yellow.

I am sync'ing the original theatrical audio to the Blu-ray, and it will be in DD 2.0 & 5.1, this is my Star Wars break.
It's looking like I might have the 5.1 audio done tonight.
If g-force is nearly finished with his RotJ script, then I will try to finish up the 5.1 mix as soon as possible so it can all be done. I should be able to do most of it this weekend, hopefully. I'm looking forward to these GOUT projects being ready!
About the subtitles, I really like msycamore's rendition, but I could go either way about it being in the image or in the black bar area, as long as it's the correct font and doesn't run off the edge of the screen (unfortunately I haven't been able to get into the HD game yet). I prefer the look of the white subtitles, but could accept yellow if necessary.

Send.... more.... paramedics.
All this talk of yellow subs is making me nervous.
I've never seen any Star Wars film with yellow subtitles. Ever.
(Excepting DJ's GOUT V1, of course.)

Haha, bkev is right, I am most definitely a huge Beatles fan.
Interestingly, though "Yellow Submarine" is my least favorite album (well, if you can call it an album), "Hey Bulldog" is one of my favorite Beatles songs.
And glad to hear it, DJ - I didn't think you'd use yellow subs, but the chatter about them was making me nervous nonetheless.

Can anyone back that up with a screenshot?
