I just finished watching this with my kids, and...

...THANK YOU!!!!!

You have done an amazing job. THIS is the Star Wars I remember watching over 70 times...the special editions sucked even worse now that I've seen this!

I was blown away by Adywan's Revisited version, but this is now my official go-to version of Star Wars (with Revisited a close second)...so many memories and good feelings flooded back to me as I watched :) This was the Star Wars of my youth...

...THANK YOU!!!!!

Well color me jealous, haha - any word on the MySpleen situation?

They're still having server issues - I haven't checked if I have invite codes yet, but I would wait until this has all been resolved.  You don't want your account to vanish once they fix it...

Like mine? :(

I had to find an alternative to MySpleen cause of their server issues.

I'm not sure if I got v3 or not...the movie was a bit on the dark side (no pun intended lol ;D ) contrast/brightness-wise. It could have been my TV or maybe a v2 or something, but I DON'T CARE 'CAUSE IT'S AWESOME!!!!

Thank you again, ChainsawAsh!!!

Are the subtitles during Greedo's/Jabba's scenes white or yellow, and are they in the frame or in the letterboxing?

I don't remember what colour they are (I think they're white, but I wouldn't stake my life on it), but they are IN the frame, not in the letterboxing. Come to think of it, the lettering seemed larger than I remember, and it was italicized...threw me off a bit...

...why do you ask?

Because that's one of the easiest ways to tell which version you have (V1 and V2 have yellow subs, one of which is in frame while the other is in the letterboxing, and V3 has white subs in the picture, replicating the theatrical subs).

The italics part sounds off to me, though...I don't think any version of Dark_Jedi's GOUT restorations used italicized subtitles...

Hmm...I might be on glue with the italicized bit, but I'd have to check again to make sure they're white...I'm almost positive they are, though.

The only part I saw the older standard resolution was at the beginning of the "You don't need to see his identification" scene, but that was in the release notes, so it's all good by me :)

Like I said, I'm so happy to even be able to watch this, I could cry lol.

What are some of the differences between v2 and v3?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "older standard resolution"; and what release notes are you referring to?

What are some of the differences between v2 and v3?

Apart from the subtitles being white as already mentioned, the video was updated in V3 (refinements in the stabilisation and some colour adjustments) and there are more audio options to choose from.

After finally finished downloading V3 (slow internet connection at my place... :-( ), I would like to know what application is good (or preferred) to burn the VIDEO_TS folder on a DVD? Just to make it compatible with all DVD Players?

Sorry I'm a little bit of a noob considering these things... :-)
Ohh and I personal use a Mac, but I can also boot into Windows XP if necessary.

Thanks, great application but a little overhelming, for example what is the right choice for the layer break (pic is from Star Wars):

Is there a difference? Or do I have to check "Seamless" and/or "Don't update IFO/BUP files" ?

Hello,

I've been able to get A New Hope and ROTJ off of usenet, but unfortunately Empire on usenet doesn't work (it's missing file parts and won't assemble).

Could someone please send me a myspleen invite or re-upload Empire to usenet?

Thank you kindly! I really appreciate the work that's gone into this.

Empire v3 on usenet seems to have an incomplete part (123) that is only 30MB, there is another copy of the file within the same collection of files that must have been reuploaded at the time (part 123, 5048MB), although I can't say if it works for certain as I haven't finished all of it yet!

That said, I too would appreciate a myspleen invite should any be going right now. I've been trying to clean up the GOUT since I decided my girlfriend should see the same versions I did when I was a kid and have had mixed results trying to clear the awful temporal filtering. I'd love to see some of the (undoubtedly better) results of others.

I usually go with the top one

Thanks, doesn't seem to make a big difference anyway :-)

Just burnt it with the seamless option on and my PS3 is fine with it and now I have no noticeable layer break at all :-)

Seamless may work for modern players, but slightly older ones may not handle it too well.

I'd only recommend doing that if you've tested all players you intend to use it with and know they'll be okay seamless.

Please let me know how it goes with that!

I also am getting this release to share with friends and family who NEED to see the unadulterated Star Wars. :)

Is there a more proper way to request a myspleen invite? So far I haven't heard from anyone.

Thank you!

Worked on my PS3 and also on a nearly 10 years old Pioneer DVD-Player, so I'm happy and can only recommend trying it! :-)

And Dark_Jedi, you're work on the GOUT is amazing, so much better than the original retail DVDs, Lucasfilm should be ashamed that fans can do better for free than a multimillion dollar company...

Thank you for giving these non-anamorphic sets anamorphic life, something georgy porge failed to do.

Think I'll save my my spleen ratio and grab them from usenets.

PS: Looks like Myspleen has freeleech going, but prolly will stick with newsgroups as it's much more faster.
