Any ETA on when the BluRays will be uploaded?

sort of 'outlining' on the faces
If you have Sharpening cranked up on your display (tv) it can create rings and halos around high contrast objects. I'm suggesting this might be caused by a setting on your hardware. Try setting Sharpening = 0 on your tv.

Mielr, about the ESB crawl, I do see a slight white outline, but I think that's a limitation of the GOUT's resolution combined with slight edge enhancement; however, as previously said, you may have your sharpness on a bit too high, as it's not that noticeable on my TV. About the end scene, yes I see what you mean, I assumed that this was an effect of the low resolution, ESB's natural dark blue tint (which was shown to be present even in theaters by the theatrical bootleg) and some DVNR smearing (which is quite noticeable in some of the final sequences of ESB). The DVNR smearing does cause some residual outlining at times when strong; this is inherent to GOUT sourced projects. However, I never downloaded the V3, so I'm at a loss to explain why it wouldn't be present there. Note that while testing these scene, I did turn my sharpness up and down, but they were still somewhat visible. I'll check my GOUT DVD later to see if I can observe any of these.
Any ETA on when the BluRays will be uploaded?

I think that ETA is still an IF... or has it become certainty?
Anyways, great work d_j!
I never thought I'd be so happy to see those Rancor matte lines again =D

It's killing me that the best GOUT preservation/restoration to date isn't available yet. Something this good needs to find its way to the masses.... or, at the very least, me :)
“It’s a lot of fun… it’s a lot of fun to watch Star Wars.” – Bill Moyers
I have just downloaded the V3 version of ROTJ. I have burned many DVD-5 discs in the past. I have not burned many DL discs. I am trying to use ImgBurn to make the disc which I have used on many iso files successfully. But for v3 ROTJ I have it as a VIDEO_TS folder and DVD_ROM folder.
ImgBurn seems to be asking me where to put the layer break. I am not sure where it is intended to be. But it looks like it is allowing me to pick from chapters 22, 23, 24 or 25. Do you know if I must select or once I actually begin the burn it will look at the IFO file in the VIDEO_TS folder to use what was originally set up by d_j?
If I should move this to the technical forum I will be happy to remove my post. Still learning all of this.
Thanks for any help with this!
In this post, Mielr states that the layer break on her disc occurs when Wicket tries to lead Leia to the ewok village.
Use the preview button in Imgburn's layer break selection dialogue to find this chapter.

I was finally able to watch my Blu-ray set over the weekend and absolutely loved every minute! There’s not much else I can say that The Aluminum Falcon and others haven’t already covered in great detail, but I’ll throw out a few quick thoughts anyway:
The menus kick ass. They’re simple, effective, and look fantastic. Their inclusion definitely elevates the set above the V3 DVDs, and the overall aesthetic is a perfect complement to the films themselves.
These films have never sounded better and having all of the audio options on one release is great. I watched each with the 5.1 option and they sounded brilliant on my setup.
I was pleased with the V3 DVDs, but the video quality here is even better and certainly better than I was expecting. Sure, certain moments of this release remind you of its origin, but more often than not I found myself amazed that this was actually sourced from the GOUT. Star Wars and Return of the Jedi look especially great, with Empire right behind them. Again, it’s a testament to the work done on the video that I was able to simply enjoy the films without grumbling about the deficiencies of the GOUT.
Also, I didn’t notice the issue raised by Mielr, though I wasn’t aware of it at the time of my viewing and I haven’t gone back yet to check. It may very well be that I saw it, but just chalked it up to the nature of the GOUT.
Ultimately, the best thing I can say about this set is that it’s the version of the Trilogy that I’ll watch from now on, and the one I will show my nephew in a few years when he’s ready for Star Wars. I’m glad I can finally retire my 2006 DVDs and proudly place these on my shelf instead. Thanks again for making this set possible, dark_jedi!
Hey guys; I got my blu ray set a bit late but I had the chance to watch Star Wars and all the hype is legit! From the opening when the menus come up they are beautiful and rotate between all these different posters with nice soft music going in the background. Very professional looking.
I found the sound on this blu ray to be phenomenal! Seeing the Star Wars crawl at the beginning was incredibly crisp and looked amazing; I was even pleasantly surprised after all the good stuff I had heard. The picture quality of the rest of the movie is really good and while not on par with modern blu ray releases, it is leaps and bounds better than any Star Wars I've seen before and kicks the @ss of the previous Lucasfilm DVDs (GOUT)! The improvement is night and day. Bravo Dark Jedi!
It was a treat to see such great picture and listen to the fabulous audio while getting to enjoy the movie without the CGI creatures fooling around, no stupid Jabba and Han scene, and most importantly Han shoots first in HD! The movie is also broken down into a ton of chapter markers so you have a lot of flexibility if you want to skip ahead to a certain part.
Well done Dark Jedi - we cannot thank you enough, and I will put up my thoughts on ESB in the next few days!

These do sound pretty sweet. I can't wait (but I will) for a set of my own to show up my friend who keep ragging on me to buy the official set.
Wow. The official Blu-ray's are fast approaching with less than a month until launch and nobody has even hinted at putting these up on the servers so that the rest of us can enjoy them. Hopefully they will be available soon so I can see for myself the amazing work that Dark Jedi has done with the non anamorphic GOUT DVD's.;)

Define "the servers."
I think he means Myspleen.
In any event, I also think it would be nice to have this set, and Im pretty sure many here are more than willing to help share them with the rest. Im also sure it will be done with the right amount of respect and credit to the creator(s) of the set
No. I meant the newsgroups. Sorry for the confusion.
Usenet would be better for some of us for sure :)
I was watching ESB again and I noticed something. Sometimes when the angle of a scene changes, there's either a dark or light strip on the bottom of the end frame of an angle or the top of the beginning frame of one. To me it looks like some sort of glue used to stitch the film together; whenever it happens, it only lasts for a frame.
Did you want to know about these, dark_jedi? They're barely noticeable and I don't really think a necessary fix.
@dark_jedi:
That Blu-ray set appears to be really awesome, I'd love to get my hands on it :)
Do you think it would be at all possible to add German language tracks to the set, if I provide you with the German GOUT-tracks? Or is that too much hassle (or not even interesting enough)?

That might be hard as there are already menus done which list all the audio tracks. Also, each track has an LPCM version too, so you might need to include that...
Actually I would be happy enough if the German track was included AT ALL, so no need to add it to the menu (and just be selectable via the audio button on the remote). Of course, adding menu entries, separate German Greedo/Jabba-subtitles or even multi-angle crawls would be the icing on the cake.
I've authored quite a lot of DVDs (albeit no multi-angle yet), but I haven't dipped my toes into Blu-ray authoring (or Java-scripting, which is used for Blu-ray menus, as I understand it). Otherwise I would just give it a shot myself. Of course dark_jedi's Blu-ray set would be the perfect starting point for adding anything more.

No I do not, those are the frames I was talking about when I went back and fixed a shitload of bad frames, but I already fixed well over 200 of them, ESB was really, really bad with these for some reason, just watch the V3 DVD and you can spot a ton of them, and it looked worse on the Blu version, that is why I went back and got as many as I could, but I am doing no more now, now it is what it is, unless someone else wants to fix them and make their own version, go for it, doing all these bad frames was more boring than doing ALL the audio I did for the V3 and Blu projects, although doing the audio for Return of The Living Dead and Conan The Barbarian were fun, maybe because it was not Star Wars and it was no release project of mine, it was just to correct my retail blu-rays.
So no, I do not need to hear about those, because I will just ignore them anyways.

As shall I... I just wanted to be a thorough reviewer. They're really not noticeable at all.

Sorry, but no, not by me, I have zero interest in any more Star Wars projects at the moment, and my BD is structured to be just exactly what it is, the way it is now, the only thing I would like to have done is add Foreign subtitles, because they don't take up much room at all, but I did not have any, so I did not even think of it, and no offense, but I would have never added those audio files anyways, what I have now takes up a lot of room on the Blu-ray disc that I could have used on the video, higher bitrate, especially SW.
I just recently got a PM from a member here wanting me to share my video files and re encode all my alien subtitle sections so there were no hard subs and wanted to add the German crawl and German end credits, but again, I have zero interest in this, none whatsoever, you have to understand, I am SO sick of these projects at the moment it is not even funny, I have done a TON of SW projects over the course of several years LOL, the next time I even look at anything SW related will be Sept. 16th.
I am very sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear, but unfortunately that is how I feel at the moment, please understand.
No problem at all ;)
I hope your set gets shared sooner or later, but for now I'll try to get your DVD versions as a start.

And you are 1 hell of a reviewer, and I really appreciate that very much, when we(people that do these projects) release something we would LOVE to have feedback, whether good or bad, it let's us know that what we did was worth it, and that it is being enjoyed, but at least some of you that have my BD Set have commented 1 way or the other, again, Thank you Aluminum Falcon for your GREAT reviews, I know I truly enjoyed reading them.
LOL, the ones now are not that noticeable, you should have seen it the first time, it looked like a damn strobe effect, I was getting dizzy LOL, but at first I could not figure out WTF was going on until I stepped through the scenes frame by frame and saw exactly what was going on.
Well, just got past taking a good hard look at all three BDs myself, and while I don't own a surround sound system (yet), I can definitely vouch for the picture quality. It is unlike anything Star-Wars related I have ever seen before.
If my Star Wars Complete Saga box arrives, I can damn well guarantee you I will take this set over HD pink sabers any day.
Even coming straight from my television, rather than a sound system, the audio is still noticeably better than any other DVD release, and comes pretty damn close to ordinary run-of-the-mill BD audio master tracks.
I'm not going to go in extreme detail, since so many have done this before me. I can only say I totally approve their reviews, and embrace this set wholeheartedly.
These are keepers. Fine job DJ, damn fine job.

Any chance anyone who has received a copy could upload it or do something to redistribute it? With DJ's permission, of course, he said he's too busy to burn BRs for people, or to upload it to MySpleen. Anyone that receive a copy already care to push it out to the rest of us?
