If you have Sharpening cranked up on your display (tv) it can create rings and halos around high contrast objects. I'm suggesting this might be caused by a setting on your hardware. Try setting Sharpening = 0 on your tv.

About the end scene, yes I see what you mean, I assumed that this was an effect of the low resolution, ESB's natural dark blue tint (which was shown to be present even in theaters by the theatrical bootleg) and some DVNR smearing (which is quite noticeable in some of the final sequences of ESB). The DVNR smearing does cause some residual outlining at times when strong; this is inherent to GOUT sourced projects. However, I never downloaded the V3, so I'm at a loss to explain why it wouldn't be present there. Note that while testing these scene, I did turn my sharpness up and down, but they were still somewhat visible. I'll check my GOUT DVD later to see if I can observe any of these.
The sharpness on my TV is always very low- not "0", but low, because I hate the effect that too high a sharpness setting creates. I have the GOUT plus all versions of d_js trilogy- V1, V2, V3 and Blu, and the Blu version is the only one where I noticed the color bleeding and the outlining effect.
Like I said, it's not a big deal, I just have a cursed tendency to spot stuff like this (I'm the one who first spotted the "shaking" effect in the ESB V1 magic tree scene, which was corrected for V2), but I probably just shouldn't have said anything about this because it's minor and the Blus are so great and I don't want to seem ungrateful or detract in any way from their excellence.

d_j asked me for timecodes, so I'll post them here too, if anyone cares to check for themselves. It's really best if you have copies of both the V3 and Blu versions, because comparing the 2 versions makes them easier to spot. The most obvious instances are the color bleeding of the faces:
I didn't timecode the crawl, because there seems to be a white outline on the right side throughout.

I'm wondering now if this is just a color saturation problem? If the color was boosted for the Blu disc, perhaps lowering the saturation on the monitor and/or Blu-ray player would fix it.
