Here's the first video sample for SRV9. As before, it's the first 10 min of the film.

MagicSR v9 looks great! But in the canyon scene with R2, frame 17212, DrDre's version looks much clearer. Additionally, as already mentioned, there is a glow around many edges and the edges itself have bigger shadows in MagicSR.
In all other scenes, I would prefer MagicSR.
Darth Id on ‘Why “Ben”?’:
And while we’re at it, we need to figure out why they kept calling Mark Hamill’s character “Luke Skywalker,” since it’s my subjective opinion that his name is actually Schnarzle Shnuzzle. It just doesn’t make sense!
Damn you George Lucas for never explaining why they all keep calling Schnarzle “Luke”!
Damn You!!!

It appears super resolution v10 will solve the problem of aliasing for the most part. Screenshots will follow soon.
Can't wait to see it!
Here are a few comparisons between SRV9 and SRV10, including the notorious C3PO and R2D2 frames. Aliasing is now greatly reduced, while retaining the detail, as is evident from the 4th and 5th comparisons.

Very nice improvement!
Awesome! I want the new video now! :-) Can you post some screenshots from the aliasing improvements like the Tantive corridors like when Vader first appears or when the soldiers are looking up after C3PO says "What's That?"?
Good thing that you have found a way to go! Some minor detail reductions (sand on 3PO's chest blurry), but the aliasing was adressed much better. Do you want to share information on how you achieved it?

Wow, did not expect that much reduction in the aliasing. Must be magic, only explanation. :P Detail still looks awesome, only very negligible detail loss in a couple areas that I saw.
Looking forward to the video sample too!

Sorry about the double post, the page crashed on me, and I thought it did not go through. >.< Really sorry
Looks excellent.
The only artifact type thing that really stood out to me was the above the head ringing in frame 8228, which, for some reason always catches my eye. I feel like I've seen it look good in a previous version!
Actually, the ringing was much worse originally. Here's a comparison for the frame with an ancient super resolution version:

Here are a few more comparisons. This time to the simple upscale:

Oh, yeah. I meant some recent in between version. But it may have been Laserdiscman's script or or the same as this or entirely imagined. I am likely only noticing it now because it's one of the fewer examples of it even existing, whereas the problem was ubiquitous earlier.
How I did it? I combined edge directed interpolation with super resolution in my script.
Alright. Can we see some examples against the simple upscale GOUT to see just how far this has come?
edit: your last set was just that. Magic indeed.
Wow, and some of those frames are real aliasing torture tests, too. Good results.
town32 - look up. ;-)
DrDre - Absolutely incredible. This is by far the best version yet. Is there any way to run these new frames through anti-aliasing again as a second pass? The Vader appearing scene for example still has some aliasing in it. I am not sure how much more this can be pushed, but it is awesome now knowing the source. Great job!
Thanks! Wouldn't have been possible, if it weren't for the great feedback you guys (and maybe a girl or two) have been giving...
It looks like the opening of the film is particularly bad with aliasing problems, compared to the rest of it. Would it be beneficial to double down on just the tantive sequences and leave the rest as it is?
Very excellent results by the way.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
Thanks for th compliments! Not sure if I'll be able to squeeze any more out of this. :-P
The reaction to SRv10 has been incredible so far. I don't think people will get out the torches and pitchforks if this is the version you stick with. :P
You did an excellent job! I think people are going to really like this upscale!
I love these AA improvements. Awesome work!
If your crop is water, what, exactly, would you dust your crops with?
Would it be possible to see some 1920-wide upscales? Are the processing requirements too computationally intensive?

Do I need to read the thread again, slower, in order to understand this comment?
JEDIT: *faceplam* never mind
I will try to create a video sample as soon as possible.
1920-wide upscales are possible, only it won't add much in terms of detail, so an HD-TV's internal upscaler will probably approach the same quality.
