George was preparing The Star Wars long before 1976 though...I think??

I imagine some of his Flash Gordon adaptation ideas ended up in the final film too.

To bring something fresh to the table probably does take a bit of time.

He was, and we now know that EpIV was ORIGINALLY supposed to come out in Christmas of '76 and they weren't ready.  I'm gonna guess that even with a Dec '15 release they'll be well into EpVIII and it could potentially be released in May. But, who knows.  I just want a released film, and a good one.  May-Dec….doesn't matter.

Well, your apology isn't accepted and I'll hate you forever and then five more years!

Yeah, you and Jedi Temple34. :-(

hey, he hates me too! We belong to a few of the same clubs it seems!

A few? I think he has everyone on ignore.

EDIT: Okay, ALMOST everyone...

I didn't say anything about who JediTemple34 is or isn't ignoring, just that Antcu and I are in a few of the same groups. (we're ignored by JediTemple & we think Superman is overpowered)

Would Superman be overpowered by JT 34?

I was watching the Star Wars open auditions on the news yesterday and I'm wondering did any OT.com members give it a shot?

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

I totally would have if they were closer to Boston.  Obviously not expecting to achieve anything, but just to be involved in that experience.  Even if its just the simplest of auditions, it's a great story to tell.

Wait, where were these?!

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

Has anyone ever been actually been cast from an open audition? These things have smacked of publicity stunts in the past.

WAIT DID YOU SAY BOSTON? WHERE AND HOW CAN I GET IN ON THIS?

JEDIT: Sorry about that guys. Cooled down a bit. Looked it up, I think Humby must have made a typo, don't there were/are/will be auditions in Boston. Shame really considering I live there and fit the description of Thomas perfectly and would be forever happy just by auditioning for Star Wars.

No typo DominicCobb, I said "IF" they were closer to Boston.  Sorry for the confusion though.  But it's true, they are not coming here, which is why I won't be participating.  They are sticking to some larger cities across the States, but actively avoiding some of the largest like NYC and LA.

Oh wow, my bad, I thought you said "if I was closer to Boston" or something like that. Anyway, a shame.

OT.com members were the guardians of peace and the OOT version, until the dark times....the Special Editions.  For 20 years, the SW movies were untouched, until Lucas executed Order 66 on all OT.com members.

As Lucas said, "All people who believe that Han Shot First are an enemy to the state and republic, once more the SE will rule and we shall have peace!"

Cue the Empire music......

Is anybody else afraid of the EU influencing the sequel trilogy?

Author

 (Edited)

That depends on which EU. There is a mountain of books, comics, and games. Some of it is great, some of it is horrible, and a lot falls somewhere in between.

Author

Any of it. I want the sequel trilogy to be no different than it would be if there wasn't a single bit of EU.

Author
Time

You would have to enter an alternate non-EU universe to confirm that, unless someone on the production team comes out and cites some part of EU as inspiration.

I know, but I still feel how I feel. Do I speak for everybody when I say that Chewie shouldn't be dead in the sequel trilogy just because a book says he is?

Author
Time

Naw. Han, Leia, and Chewie are safe. Luke, though. . . I worry about his fate in 8 or 9 if he sticks around as a Kenobi-type mentor.

EU aside, I think that if any of the OT characters are to die, it would be Han.

I think it's safe to say that Harrison Ford is signing on so he can die like he originally wanted to in ROTJ.  Lucas can't really say "no" anymore, can he?

Keep in mind that Harrison was burned out on Star Wars at the time. I'm willing to bet Han lives and Harrison's attitude has changed.

And I'm someone who would've preferred his heroic sacrifice in ROTJ.

If it's a good death, one that has meaning, and saves the day, I can live with it. I may cry into my Icee though.

Peter Mayhew has gone through a lot of surgery and pain to walk again, and has stated his intention to return to the role. Chewie had damn well better be in the movie.
