Some people are trying to avoid seeing anything from the movie at all.

My bad (Image removed). I didn't think a shot from a trailer was "spoilers", as the last page of this thread was discussing said trailer. Oops.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

Easier to avoid seeing text as opposed to not seeing an image.

A link to an image is probably okay. It's their own fault if they click on it. ;)

After watching the last trailer, I had a really bad feeling about it. It didn't feel like Star Wars for some reason.

30+ years between sequels can do that....I want it to feel both new and old.

Wow, this sold me. I've been cautiously optimistic about this based on the news and rumors (real sets, puppets, teaser trailers, etc.) but this new trailer definitely solidified my genuine excitement.

There was (and still is, really) a part of me that really wanted this to LOOK like it was shot in the late seventies (like Star Wars and Empire) but I always knew it wouldn't and would instead look like a modern blockbuster. But it occurred to me that the original trilogy were all SUPER modern, trend setting, in-your-face action sequenced spectacles at their times of release and this film should be no different. If this film really follows the Star Wars tradition faithfully, it too should be very modern with cutting edge effects and mind blowing action sequences. It SHOULD look modern. More modern than anything else in the theater. And it shouldn't ape the cinematography/look of any of the previous films. All three of the OT have their own distinct look and feel when it comes to cinematography, lighting, etc. but the common thread they have running throughout them that ties them together visually is the art direction, sets, costumes, creatures, etc all look like they're from the same universe. And the snippets I've seen of this film fit that bill too. A new look/visual style for a very familiar universe. I can't wait!

I agree. This won't look like it was actually made during the time of the original trilogy, but will be a continuation of the story with a different style. This trailer quelled some of my apprehension, while reminding me that it won't have artificial limitations placed on it of only using models on strings. It'll be modern, just as the originals were modern, but it will still be Star Wars.

Let's keep a little optimism, huh?

My stance on revising fan edits.

As long as the plot, dialogue, characters, tone, music and pacing are all good I could give a motherfuck what it looks like.

Non-spoiler alert: many people here have their sticks in the mud.

I thought it was pretty cool...but it's just a trailer.  I never judge anything by a trailer.

Many of my friends have tried to push me to watch the trailer... but I'm not budging. It's like peeking at your presents before Christmas.

No real plot details are spoiled but a couple of rumors are confirmed in regards to a couple of characters. But good for you; I wish I had your resiliency.

It's not just plot points, it's locations, character looks, sets, costumes, shots, dialogue.  I don't even want to see pictures. I wish I hadn't seen the first two trailers. Honestly, if I could have walked in knowing ONLY that it was Star Wars Episode VII, that would have been ideal. As is, all though I've avoided a lot, I still feel like the mystery of what happens 30 years after Return of the Jedi is sort of gone, which is a little disappointing. I was hoping to go into the movie knowing nothing at all but that just ended up not being possible (damn this franchise for being so popular!).

I've become resilient because I started to really tire of having trailers spoil. Of course it's not just spoiling, it'd be like I'm watching the film and I'll wonder when a scene I saw in the trailer will show up. Just found that really annoying. Avoiding Star Wars stuff is especially hard because it's Star Wars. I read the junior novelization of ROTS before I saw it which was probably my peak spoiling a movie before seeing it. Hopefully I haven't spoiled TFA too much for myself already.

I'll be cutting down on my internet usage soon. Once it gets closer to the release of the film some serious spoils are going to get out. I can wait two months. I've already waited just about my entire life.

Yeah, some of us have been waiting 32 years for this. :)

 Or peeking, even. :p

Well allow me to play Devils advocate and say I LOVED the trailer. To me it felt like the right balance between old and new. It's not gonna be just like the original trilogy and I think a lot of people here need to accept that. All I'm hoping for is that it's a good story with good characters in an environment that feels like the same universe 30 years later. It doesn't have to be the exavt movie I wanted and personally would have made in order for me to enjoy it. If it's at least good and enjoyable, I'll be happy. There's this weird stigma people have now where it has to be better than the last great thing that came out otherwise it sucks. Guys, even if it's not as good as Empire (which it probably won't be), that doesn't mean it isn't good. I'm incredibly hopeful and everything I've seen out of this has just made me more and more excited.

All this being said, everything about TPM seemed great before it came out. If TFA sucks, I'll be the first to admit it.

As I said in the other thread, the only problem I had with it is that it felt too dark. I'm hoping there are some more lighthearted moments in the actual movie.

Thinking back on ANH, there were actually very few moments that I can point to as being genuinely funny. The only one that comes easily to mind is Han's conversation with Luke after the rescue "Do you think a princess, and a guy like me...". As far as lighthearted goes, there's a lot of fussy banter between the droids and the final scene of the film, but other than that it takes itself quite seriously. It doesn't give the audience a wink like Marvel movies, it's not jokey. I don't mind if TFA is serious fare.

Besides, the trailer was selling itself as EPIC, so lighthearted moments wouldn't have worked with the music. :)

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

So long as it doesn't pull some GoT shit I'm okay with a darker tone so long as it's not done purely to shock people.

Too dark may be too much (not even TESB went "full dark" :D). On the other hand, this kind of stupidity is what bothers me :\

edit: Realizing now that this is the non spoiler thread, the second link to the stupid, stupid person is a link to the new trailer with the time stamp that John posted.  Though, feel free to click the first one if you want to raise your IQ a few points and not be spoiled.

That's different, though. Han has just saved the day and his cry, not only doesn't look retarded goofy (just look at Dameron's face!), but is reminiscent of westerns' movies. In other words, it fits Ford's cowboy character.
