Here’s the new order of scenes for the alternate, ‘Padme Dies’ version:

Anakin learns Padme is pregnant
Greivous arrives on Utupau and speaks with Sidious
Nightmare, Anakin walks out of bedroom
Opera scene (excised mention of Greivous intel, since it’s not followed up with for a while)
Yoda’s counseling session
Anakin misses briefing and Obi-Wan warns him of Palpatine
Palpatine appoints Anakin to Jedi Council
Council doesn’t like this
Bail’s apartment deleted scene
Anakin is asked to spy on Palpatine
Jedi traffic scene
Anakin and Padme talk about their political views and have a bad time
Troops setting up on Khshyyyk, and LOE continues more or less the same from here until the ending (same as current alternate version ending)

I hate to come across as that guy, but I noticed that even though Threepio and Artoo have been removed from the medical ward, you can still see their reflections on the glass.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

Yeah, I’m aware of that. But it seems like it’s either keep that or don’t remove them otherwise so I decided it was all right to leave. But thanks for highlighting it.

Because of sade1212’s FX shot of Palpatine’s face beginning to change. Don’t need to imply it happening while the lights are off because we see it happen onscreen.

Is that in both versions? I love that change!

Hello there. If it’s no bother may I have a PM so that I may have access to your edits, please?

Hi Hal… just wanted to say I finally got the chance to check out your fanedits and I love what you’ve done. ESPECIALLY the prequel trilogy.

Even though the germ of the story is pretty great (the story, not necessarily the screenplays), there’s always been one thing that really bothered me about the way Lucas made them, and that’s his expectation that people will always watch them out of sequence (the originals first, then the prequels); because of that, they pander to fans instead of surprise us. One thing above all sticks out at me: when Padme names her children. This totally destroys the surprise of Leia being the other child for the first-time viewer watching them in episode order (and we already know she has two babies and they’re separated from other discussion.)

So, I’d like to suggest that, if you further revise Labyrith of Evil, you might consider removing her naming the twins.

Anyway, they’re works of art, so thank you for the work you’ve done. And thanks for your consideration on my suggestion. 😃

(P.S. the only other thing I wish had been left in is the Palpatine-Yoda battle, not just because it’s awesome but because it shows Yoda didn’t just give up on everything. He was defeated… which gives his payback training Vader’s son a bigger edge. Just a thought!)

Thanks and I’m glad you like them. Anything related to these ideas has been hashed out and tossed over for like a decade at this point and I don’t plan to revise Ep3 any further. I decided not to try to influence the ideal viewing order, as it would be a large, overarching idea to try to realize.

This was one of the first edits I ever watched, back when it was at version 3 or 4. Congrats on reaching a point of finality on all your hard work!

I’ve only watched RotS a handful of times, but I recall thinking it was the prequel which was least in need of a fanedit. That said, I did thoroughly enjoy your LoE version and nothing jumped out at me as truncated or out-of-place. Having just listened to your commentary, it turns out a lot of the moments I enjoyed in LoE were deleted scenes you reinstated. Specifically, I like the “seeds of Rebellion” scenes, and how they dovetail with Rogue One and Andor.

I believe this is pretty much standard practice for RotS edits, but it’s still nice to see Padmé surviving too.

EDIT: I know a lot of people round here aren’t exactly keen on Disney-era Star Wars, and I don’t love it all myself; I hope you aren’t offended that I enjoy your edits and some Disney SW.

Could we get a version without letterboxing encoded into the video? I have an ultrawide monitor and it looks like this.

Learn how to crop the video in VLC. Very easy fix 😉

The Skywalker Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX
This is the way.

Hello Hal. Thank you for your awesome edits! I have watched your edits of Episode I & II and they were fantastic. I really enjoyed your focus on Padme in Ep II. She comes across as much more badass.

I’m having difficulty finding Episode III to watch. Could you help point me in the right direction?

Thanks for your work and dedication.

Hi there. I’m a big fan of your work especially since I hated the excessive comic relief in the first third of an otherwise masterpiece of a movie. IMO it is the best SW movie out there. Could I have access to your latest updated version please??
