Star Wars Episode II: The Galaxy Divided (The Brash Cut) - CANCELLED — Page 2

Carrying this across from The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread, I want to recolour Jango (Boba in this edit) to have ESB colours, however I'm aware that recolouring all his armour will be a LOT of work (not to mention a nightmare changing the metallic finish to a matt one as well as making it green) so I might have to compromise and just change the visor.

I've previously toyed with changing the colours of Kamino when I considered the fact that Boba and Kamino seem to have been coloured to match eachother. I was inspired by a painting posted by Bingowings to see what it would looks like if Kamino matched a red visored Boba in the same way it does a blue.

The painting:

I have very little skills with photoshop. This was just a simple hue/saturation edit. The sky happening to match the painting's quite well was a happy mistake. I just moved the hue slider all the way to red to change the visor colour and the rest followed suit.

Opinions? I quite like it, but that might just be because it's different to what we're all familiar with.

I suspect your mockup was a simple hue shift?

Which is fine on Fett and the sky (if you want it orange) but it will mean more work when you come to include Obi-Wan (unless you like him with a green face and an orange lightsaber).

Oh yeah, it wasn't designed to be a solution to it in motion. Just that specific still image so people could see what it would look like (both with a red visored fett and a more orange Kamino like in the painting)

New video already posted on the Prequel Radical Redux Thread. Shows Dooku to have some remorse.

"Count Dooku was once a Jedi. He couldn't assassinate anyone. It's not in his character."

Excellent example of that!

Good job :D

Portman is just plain terrible in that scene... or is that just me?

Yeah, Dooku was interesting when he seemed to stand for something, but when he started twirling sabers and showboating I lost interest fast. Good work!

Terrible acting is common in the prequels. It is a shocker when the acting is good. I doubt the cast from the OT could make these movies much better. They are just really badly written.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

So, am I understanding you correctly... Is Jango now Boba Fett in your edit and he survives the movie?

Yeah. The kid is being cut, we never see him without his helmet, never have him mentioned by name, and I'm hopefully doing a recolour of his armour.

I probably won't have him on Geonosis despite my video of him escaping the arena. It just makes too little sense to have it so obvious that the 2 warring sides are connected.

You are right. But to be fair Liam Neeson was quite good in episode one.

I don't think Liam was very good in TPM (not his fault really nobody seemed to be having a rewarding working experience exept Ian who really shone in his few scenes) compared to some of the other actors he might look good but in isolation he seemed bored and tired.

how are you planning to do this? i tried (in vain) to recolour him in photoshop purely using filters, but produced horrific results. i always thought a semi boba would work, ie red visor and maybe tinting his blue fabric somehow.

have you tried the change color effect in AE? im thinking you already tried this, if that dont work maybe you can use the color key effect perhaps?

ben_danger. I've yet to try a recolour of him at this stage. I'm going to need to learn the technique from scratch. I know NOTHING about photoshop, but I do know someone who's somewhat of an expert. And I've heard that the recolouring options in AE are similar to PS.

I was a big fan of your mockup when you did it, but it shows how time consuming it would be to change the metallic green (and yellow) finishes into a matt one for continuity purposes. Recolouring in motion is going to be time consuming enough as it is, which is why I may compromise and just do a partial recolour so that he has a red visor and a light grey jumpsuit, but all the armour remain silver.

fishmanlee. No I've yet to even try after effects at all, let alone to recolour Jango. I've read about the change colour option however.

How about keep Jango, just make Boba Fett a younger comrade? P'raps a brother.

Author
Time

I just don't see any reason to have another Fett in the prequels. It's entirely unnecessary, and if your idea means keeping the kid, then no way. Lol.

He can't act. He's irritating. Not to mention he ruins the mystery of the man behind the mask.

If your idea means inserting another actor, then I don't know. It's certainly beyond my expertise and resources.

Author
Time

Not the kid, but full costumed Boba. Just with shiny armour, to show that in the past 20-odd years, Boba Fett has beaten up his armour.

But the meeting between Jango and and Obi-wan was an interesting scene actually. I loved the tense feeling it gave off... To show him in full armor and no reveal would mean to cut that scene. Do you not think it will be strange that they start fighting without the prior scene? Not knocking you, just curious how you plan to remedy it. I'm all for Jango being Boba if it can be done well.
