Hey there Hal, I just came across a YouTube video that reviewed your edits of the Prequel & Sequel Trilogies, and then I went and looked up more reviews, and I’m VERY intrigued to watch both trilogies! I’d appreciate the links to those a TON, and thank you for all the hard work you’ve done to make these! Can’t wait to watch!!!

Hi HAL, I sent you a PM because I would like to check out your prequel edits!

Just another fan who wants to preserve the theatrical versions of the OT.

Oh wow I’m so glad I found this! I’ve been looking for your edits for years…as people above have said, they’re very well regarded. Could I get a link to the 3 prequel edits please…I would be so happy

I am releasing a V8 update which very well may be the last, though ‘The Man With No Name’ had expressed interest in doing a new color grade and VFX throughout. If he does end up finishing this, I will likely incorporate it to a future update. However, I wanted to release this for now in order for it to stand as final in case this never materializes.

I reinstated a few small moments to avoid breaking up natural pacing, addressed a few technical issues and smoothed a few musical transitions. The main interesting thing is a set of AI lines for 3PO from ‘Jar Jar Bricks’ to solidify the change that Anakin did not build him from scratch.

So, nothing terribly exciting, and mostly maintenance.

This is borderline banning material Hal. 😄

Just downloaded and I’m not noticing any changes. Guess that is a good thing? haha

Hey Hal, do you have any specifics you could share of what was added back in?

The Skywalker Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX
This is the way.

New AI lines for 3PO right before cutting to the podrace sequence. The rest is folding back a couple bits back into the movie, a line or two here and there. I put back Jar Jar’s tongue in Watto’s shop, “sitting ducks,” and a couple other things like that.

My stance on revising fan edits.

That color grade looks great so far from what I’ve seen. Really brings it more in line with the rest of the PT. Phantom has always just looked off for some reason…

probably because it was shot on film, while the rest of the prequels where shot on digital so they have much more of a neutral grade, which is what I’m going for here.

Can’t wait to see the finished product. Any other fun VFX plans you’re thinking of?

That addition was so stupid. It felt like the writers were stuck and couldn’t find a way to have them escape, so George just said, F**K it, make them run as fast as the Flash. This completely breaks the logic of every lightsaber battle in Star Wars history—if they could do this, all those duels could have been avoided. It makes me want to cut it out entirely. The only problem is figuring out how to make that work.

Has anyone ever tried to slow them down or add a smoke cloud that covers their disappearance or something?

But how would that work though? couldn’t the Droidekas shoot them down as they hastily ran down the hallway?

I have an idea that could work. While deflecting the laser blasts, either Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon deflects a shot that hits something large on the ceiling—it doesn’t matter what it is. When it falls, it provides cover, allowing them to make their escape while still being shielded. The droidekas could then shoot at the fallen object, breaking it apart like they did with the door. Afterward, we can continue the scene with them running down the hall, and we can just say they got a head start.
