If you like it, get it here.

Big thanks to Sluggo for the font support!

Hey, Jonno,

I love this cover! However, the link to download it seems to have expired or reached its limit. Could you upload it again, perhaps?

Thanks,

Sammy

Hey, what kind of paper do you guys print your DVD covers on? I printed mine on just standard paper, but it looks shitty because the colors bleed a little and the paper gets wrinkly from the heavy ink coating. What kind of paper do you recommend printing a DVD cover on for close-as-retail-covers possible?

For CDs I always used HP Glossy Brochure paper.  It's not too thick, and it's the same on both sides.  Just a really nice paper.  Then I'd trim with my trusty Xacto knife and a straight edge, and perforate the spine folds.  Unfortunately, their legal-size of this paper is not so readily available.  It would be perfect for DVD covers.

Hi, Jonno,

Thanks for the updated link. As far as more permanent hosting options, I'm not really sure. This one did the trick, though, for the time being :)

Thanks again, and great work.

This is my attempt at an Empire Strikes Back cover. I used one of my absolute favorite posters simply because I never see it used for covers and if i do it is a horrible cover. Enjoy here is the link.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

move the text under the "the Saga Continues" to the right a bit as it is too near the edge

Thanks,

I plan on doing the rest of the trilogy in this version of my sets. But I think that it would be pointless because their isn't really any alternative posters I like in the rest of the trilogy that would fit with this one. I am still tweaking my Drew Struzan covers at the moment.

it would be cool to see a series of covers that are covered in thumbnail profile pictures of the characters that feature, maybe like 20 or more, so the whole saga would feature a changing palette of characters. would be very xmen-ish

phewww that would be alot of work i am exausted thinking about it. But i could see it being done. Atleast you wouldnt need big hi res pictures.

Thanks :)

You should probably take a look at your screen brightness, the black levels are a bit varied (particularly around the THX and Lucasfilm logos at the bottom of the spine).

I've had the same trouble myself (with my first mainly-black cover), so I know what a PitA it is to fix. If you're using Photoshop you could just try using 'levels' to squeeze down the blacks to a consistent tone, if you follow my meaning.

My screen unfortunately is as bright as i can get it. Something about these damn LCD moniters that grinds my gears.

The updated one is above. I think the blacks are just right but I will have to check on my laptop.

Alright, here are the covers, finished, without the "special features" section:

I decided against the Special Features section because it didn't quite look right, plus it wasn't on the VHS sleeve anyway.  It wouldn't be hard for someone to add if they wanted to.

Here's the RapidShare download link - one ZIP file containing the full-res JPEGs of all three covers:

http://rapidshare.com/files/219367632/Star_Wars_covers.zip

I'll post a similar link for my Indiana Jones covers if anyone's interested (you can find the "thumbnails" for those on page 150).

Can we get a new download link for these?

Hi y'all, here's the last couple I'm likely to attempt for a while - just rounding out my set of rental-style covers with one more Empire version (so that's four options in total now!) and finally Jedi.

I'll zip up the complete set in a little while for convenient downloading. Hope you like them, and of course let me know if you can suggest any improvements!

Dude. I really like those; I love the concept. My only comment would be (not like I'm one to talk and could do any better) is that there are pretty hard line transitions from where you put the characters together; like they kinda stick out and don't really blend in smoothely. Probably the biggest example I see is on the ESB one, the top of Luke's head against the black background, is a really hard, sharp, defined line that kinda sticks out to me. But like I said I couldn't do any better and they are great. I love 'em, great work

May the Force be with you.

Hopefully you've all seen Fanboys by now, and in listening to interviews and things I've heard that originally the DVD cover art was supposed to match the official Star Wars DVD's. The crawl even has the number VII that would fit right on the spine to fit right next to your favorite movies on the shelves.

I'm putting out a call for some of you very talented artistes to make it so. I'm not nearly as talented with photoshop or any photo editing programs other than Illustrator and I don't think that's gonna cut it but I'll try.

Thanks in advance.
