I’ve always wondered how the 1997/2004 version will be presented on a single disc. I would have expected a 2004/2011 split disc since they are similar in color grading.

Similar color grading, yes. But since each version will be on its own timeline that doesn’t much matter. If I was doing seamless branching between the versions, I absolutely would put 04 and 11 together. But then at that point there would be enough space for 97, 04, and 11 to be all on the same disc.

So I’ve been thinking a lot and I have a question to pose to whoever would like to to submit their opinion:

Are any of you really itching for Disc 3? I mean at the end of the day, it’s just a custom disc for the Blu Ray version that you should all have anyways if you’re going to be downloading this set.

I ask because if not, it would certainly be a lot easier on my end, and on the end of you all downloading, if disc 3 simply be an empty spot for you guys to put your 2011 discs. It would also allow me to forego any possible distribution issues that may arise from simply putting out essentially an untouched 2011 version of the film, and would mean the bonus material disc would be completed much sooner. I can always make a custom label for those of us who want the labels to all match.

As for the “secret release” mentioned a few posts back, I’m fairly certain there would be space for it on the bonus material disc, and it wouldn’t be out of place there, as strictly speaking it isn’t an official version of the film.

Also, if I go that route, I’ll just tell you all what that release is and add it to the list of bonus features, no sense in making it a “secret release” at that point haha.

I honestly wouldn’t miss the 2011 versions of them. It’s officially available so there’s not much of a need to include it.

Yes, I think it would make the most sense to just allow people to substitute their own 2011 discs. If for some reason someone wants to watch it, they will want to watch their high bitrate 1080p version and not a transcode. And assuming that people will have their own 2011 disc is fitting with the mantra/rule of the site.

Okie dokie. Well in that case, disc three will just be an empty slot for the 2011 discs. I will create a label which matches the other discs for those who want it.

And with that, the “secret release”, a “workprint extended edition” of the film, splicing deleted scenes into the silver screen edition, will be moved to the bonus material disc 4.

This seems as good a place as any for this question: are there actually any differences between the 2004 and 2011 versions of ESB? I can think of a handful of things for the other two, but I’m blanking on Empire.

I think they added some shine on a window, changed the color of some sparks, and patched up a few pixels of puppeteer’s hand. Nothing major.

Yeah the only noticeable change I can think of is the covering up of the pink puppeteer stick that holds the Wampa arm as it smacks Luke off his tauntaun.

There’s also CG sparks and recoloring when Chewy is saving 3PO from the elves. And the CG reflection. Aside from that, they drastically reduced the blue in the Hoth battle.

For those who are interested, today I will be muxing an mkv of the 1981 version of the film to post on the spleen. In case you want that version, but not necessarily the whole disc with all the bells and whistles.

It is as most of you know based on Towne32’s regrade as a base with a few select scenes and sequences regraded by me and my 1981 crawl/flyover spliced into the beginning.

The Spleen:

“The server load is very high at the moment. Retrying, please wait…”

That’s all I’m getting and it’s getting old.

Sounds interesting.

Please let us know when it’s up there, will you?

It does this almost every time now, and for the last two weeks.

I’ve been trying to upload all day and I get this every single time. It’s getting extremely old. Oh well, onto attempt #1,138

Well now it’s saying “upload failed”. Though I’m not sure if it’s because of how the site has been acting lately or if it was something wrong I did in creating the torrent. This is actually the first torrent I’ve created and attempted to post so that is a real possibility. Is there anything weird or specific that must be done to a torrent to make it acceptable by myspleen?

I’m doing my final watchthrough of my next version now. If it passes, it should start uploading immediately. Just as a final heads up in case you want to wait. 😉

Did you add the tracker info to your torrent?

Author

I actually will be waiting for your next version since I’m having trouble anyways haha.

No I didn’t. That is exactly what I missed. Thank you haha.

This next one should be final as far as you’re concerned. The only future upgrade should just be utilizing lossless files which will cut down on an artifact here and there.

Spleen goes “The server load is very high at the moment. Retrying, please wait…” every time someone here announces a release.

Not just that. It’s done it EVERY TIME I’ve even attempted to just go on the spleen to browse the torrents. Something’s been up with their server the past couple weeks. Very aggravating.

It’s called “Silver Screen Edition gone public”… I had at least 4 or 5 friends email me a copy of the story online (on different websites at that), simply because they knew I was a Star Wars fan and they read it on their favorite tech sites and thought I’d be interested. That means a LOT of people saw it. I know spleen is “private” but I bet it’s really opened up recently.

I have a question about this, Darth. Is the extended cut going to include the SE Jabba, and if so, which version is going to be used for that? Also, I assume that the deleted scene of Luke and Biggs reuniting is going to be the one included on the BD bonus features rather than the SE version. I’m just curious about this stuff.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.

I’m looking forward to it 😃

Well, I’m glad you’re using my final version so that I can watch your version without thinking “gah, but I updated that!”. 😃

Are you going to release comparison shots of the color that you changed from my version? Or just leave it for people to find? Maybe you can PM me the details if it’s the latter.

In your myspleen description, feel free to explain the difference between the 81 and 97 crawl and therefore between our two versions. Most people are probably unaware. I certainly was until a few months ago.
