I *finally* managed to grab this (and get some DL discs), and...all I can say is wow! Amazing bit of work. Not perfect, but still very worthwhile. I watched it on a t.v., not a monitor, so when I have a block of time I'll check it out there as well. Judging by some of the comments it seems that there some noticeable issues.

Now onto the Darth Editious v3!

Zion, excellent work - I think your image is the best so far.

The desaturated color looks far more natural and it seems as if you've stepped down the reds a bit, which it needed.

Vader's cape and helmet have much more detail with your levels and I don't see any compression artifacts.

Very nice indeed!

I have been trying to download this edition for a while with no success. If Someone could burn me a copy I would appreciate it greatly. Currently all I have is a direct laser disk transfer and it is far from amazing. If you can help me out please email me at trujillo06 at cox net

Since demonoid has closed down downloading it has not gotten any easier.

My suggestion is to wait for Star Wars - The Vintage Edit

That's about the most I can help, I don't think I ever finished downloading this one as I think CE 2.0 had it's fair share of problems as documented here.

Using just the gamma setting will bring out all the noise in the darker & some other areas. I came across this problem when i was first attempting to colour correct ANH. But i found that you only need to raise the gamma very slightly and then use the input white level to brighten without bringing out too much noise. Here's an comparison example. Here you can see that i have managed to brighten up the image without bringing out too much noise in the darker areas and is almost as bright as OCP's. i boosted the saturation on my image just to match OCP's just for this example. The original of mine has had the saturation dropped by about 20%

I find it is always best to do some quick renders first onto a dvd-rw and check on a few tv's to see if any problems have occured with brightening & colour correction. The problem with the 2004 DVD's is that the detail has been lost in the black areas and no amount of brightening will fix this. Its all just finding a good balance between brightness & minimal image noise.

“This is madness”. Okay where can I buy one of these versions from? I have the THX laserdisc CAV version which I transferred straight over to DVD-RW and its not as good looking as the OCP version.

I still haven’t transferred Return of the Jedi the laserdisc version that came out around early 1990’s before the THX versions. This one has the original soundtrack that I remember from the 1983 realise that was on 35mm Dolby stereo, not sure about the 70mm six-track version, thou I bet that would be a must to have on DVD.

Only the originals from the 70mm six-track Dolby stereo Dolby format 42 will sound better on DVD.

If you do, then piracy is afoot. You can contact OCP and pay him 10 bucks for it, reason for him getting kicked off the forums I believe. Or I suppose someone here can send you a copy. I know I'd just ask for a self addressed and stamped envelope and burn you a copy for free.

No thanks, I guess it was just the thought I’ll keep hold of my (Star Wars laserdisc and DVD copies) of the films. These copies here just look great and tempting, or I can play around with the contrast brightness and colour levels on the TV monitor, instead to obtain a good playback picture.

Thanks.

Don't give up Ocpmovie!

He was banned long ago for being a seller of fan edits. Your bump post to bring back this shit is lame.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Sorry to resurrect, isn't it folly just to ban someone for attempted profiteering despite the fact he was actually doing a good job?

Can anyone pm me his e-mail? Anyone got a copy of the OCP work? Is it any good? Thanks

It doesn't matter if he was doing a good job or not. He is not only selling his own work but the work other people here have done. Not only is it highly illegal but its a real scumbag thing to do. And he is still doing it. Hopefully no one will PM you any details about this scumbag

To be honest his work isn't that good anyway. The colouring hasn't been changed and you switch from the 2004 DVD colouring to the original colouring of the bonus disc. Plus sections where he has used parts of the original over the DVD version stick out like a sore thumb. There are better preservations of the OT out there. Dark_Jedi's GOUT v3 is almost finished and these will give you a better version of the unaltered trilogy than OCP's.

You guys are legends. Thank you.

Literally saving Star Wars from that madman Lucas.

I was not suprised to hear that it was the amazing people around him that made his films until he got rid of many of them after Empire Strikes Back, a film Lucas believed was crap.

After that his films nose dive, to the crap he produces today.
