I’m a couple months behind on comics. I’ve been pretty broke lately so they’ve been piling up in my box. Anyone read the Poe Dameron one yet?

Yeah, it’s pretty good, mostly because Snap Wexley is in it. 😃

I really want to read Poe, but I’m adverse to buying the issues. Don’t know if I can wait until December for the collected volume though…

Kinda reminds me of the old Rogue Squadron series. I like it.

I heard Vader is ending at #25.

Who wants to place bets on whether or not they relaunch the series immediately after cancellation with a brand new #1?

It’d be great if they followed that series with a Kylo Ren line, but I doubt we’ll get anything that explores that topic for at least a few more years.

Let’s just hope they don’t start a Darth Maul series, though I wouldn’t be surprised.

Also, I just remembered there’s an Obi-Wan & Anakin series going on which not a single person seems to be talking about. Do I even bother asking if anyone has read it? How sad the PT. A comic with that name would have been very easily the most anticipated and sought after SW book pre-1999. Funny how times change.

I’ve read a few issues of the Obi-Wan/Anakin comic, it’s not bad. A guilty pleasure for me a few years ago was reading the Jedi Apprentice and Jedi Quest book series’, and they have a similar feel to them as the Obi-Wan/Anakin comic.

Obi-Wan/Anakin is just the latest entry in the mini-series series. It’s really steampunk for some reason, but I like seeing how Palpatine just hangs out with teenage Anakin on Coruscant.

Maybe “Vader” will skip forward a bit so we don’t have this him reacting to things that are currently happening in Ongoing, closer to the point where he stops being every Imperial Officers plaything and starts taking command of the fleet like we see in Empire. That’s what I was looking for in this series, because it starts with him getting chewed out by the Emperor for letting DS1 get blown up and basically demoted even further.

Here is the first official image in Ciena Ree from Lost Stars

She’s a bit darker than I expected but it’s nice to put a face to the name.

Neat, that’s pretty much exactly what I had in my head.

I read the first three “Obi-Wan and Anakin” set between TPM and AOTC and I’m actually shocked at how much of a relationship it builds between the two. I really enjoy all of the flashbacks with Anakin’s training and how he reacts to other padawan being jerks. I may continue reading this one.

The first “Star Wars” and “Darth Vader” comics are really stupid, I stopped reading at around issues #8-10. They keep throwing back to the PT and making a bunch of stupid decisions and really derailed the story. Rather than making an adventure set between ANH and ESB, they’ve gone in and just filled it with PT retcons and strange EU-based crap. Ugh

I enjoyed the first story (#1-6) and the Obi-Wan issue (#7) but it lost me after that.

I’ve only fairly recently discovered the joys of getting back issues and not worrying about trying to keep up with any of the current comics.

Like Luke getting into a lightsaber duel prior to TESB, or something more idiotic?

I think they handled it pretty well despite the shitty premise. The “duel” would have been less than 10 seconds if it were in film or TV and it sewed the seeds of Vader finding out he had a son. Though he could have found that out some other way such as having looking at Luke through a security recording and seeing his old lightsaber and putting two and two together later on.

Like that, here’s just a few:
-Darth Vader having his own protocol droid and Astromech Droid
-Han Solo’s ex-girlfriend showing up to help in her “unmodified” model of the millenium falcon.
-Darth Vader going to Geonosis to destroy the rest of the droid factory
-A group of people who use the force and yellow lightsabers but are neither on the side of the rebellion/jedi or the empire. They just talk shit to Darth Vader before getting their asses killed, went nowhere.
-Someone (from the Empire era) is a huge fan of PT-era technology and makes hybrid droids as well as this abomination
-Luke is actually on the run from Boba Fett for a long time before his introduction in ESB, he just never decided to bring him up as a heads up to Han and Leia
-Leia remembers her mom because holograms of Padme were shown to her as a little girl, this doesn’t even solve the issue that Leia remembers her being “very kind but sad” and it also HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DARTH VADER! I don’t know why this is in the vader comics!

Another thing is the planets they visit are very uninteresting. They either spend most of their time in buildings/bunkers/ships or on PT-era planets like this

These are my complaints as well, more or less.

The art in Vader is fantastic for the most part, however.

This isn’t really an issue because droids serve their purposes. Especially Astromechs.

EDIT:

Also aren’t those Aphra’s droids?

The Protocol Droid was pretty much HK-47…how does that not fit the dark tone?

I’d say he was more like C3P0 except programmed to torture people. He still asked all of the same types of questions as 3P0 would and really behaved like him except for the fact that he was used for evil instead.

From my point of view that makes it a bit darker. That someone like C-3P0 with a few tweaks can be programmed to torture sentients and actually enjoy it. Not only that the droid has stated he killed his previous masters. As far as characters go this is the closest thing we’ll probably get to a serial killer (or someone with serial killeresque tendencies) outside of the Darth Plagueis novel.

Nice! Now if they could just get an artists rendering done of Thane Kyrell I’ll be happy 😄

Finally got around to Bloodline and I’m enjoying it a lot. Claudia Grey is proving to be the MVP of the new EU.
