Thanks a TON for doing this Adywan, it will be GREATLY appreciated.
Well well well! :)
For those interested, with jambe's permission, I am in the process of doing a NTSC conversion of Star wars begins. Now because i will be doing a proper NTSC conversion there will be some side effects. As Jambe used a PAL source for his edit i will be slowing down the audio to the original NTSC pitch. The only problem will be that some of the commentary voices that were originally pitched correctly and not PAL sped up will sound a little deeper, but the main movie itself will have the correct NTSC pitch. The only other way of doing it would have been to shrink the audio and keep the original PAL pitch but this would have caused more undesirable side effects.
It will be exactly the same as the official PAL version with the original menus and extras intact. I should be finished by sometime tomorrow and will be uploading it soon after to usenet only

Nice to hear, Ady. Thank you.
I just checked fanedit.info (where I hope the NTSC version will be someday) and the PAL version isn't even there yet! Seems to be taking a while...
Fantastic news adywan, thanks!

It was supposed to be available today but there was a glitch. Look for it tomorrow.
Haha, funny timing on my comment, then. :p Thanks for the news.
I forgot to mention - I noticed the audio (the movie audio) went slightly out-of-sync in places. Did anyone else notice this or was it just me?

Oh yeah, I wasn't sure if the burning process did something weird or not (it gave me warnings) but at the end audio was starting to get out of sync to the point it got very distracting.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
thanks adywan! Hope someone feed sit to the demons afterwards.

I only noticed it during the death star battle but i just thought it was because my player started it from its last position viewed. I've fixed those. Are there any other parts i should look out for?
Thanks for doing an NTSC conversion, Ady. Those of us in the States really appreciate your efforts.
And Canada. And many other countries around the world. ;)
Canadian here who can definitely back that statement up....
Just so you guys know, we don't all have Wolverine hair. Haha. ;)
...and those of us who do use ALOT of gel (as cool as it would be, its not natural)
Mine is as dark as yours now despite how light it was when I was a wee tyke. No gel, though.
Anyway, sorry for the derailment. I definitely appreciate Adywan's efforts, especially if it also fixes a sync problem. I haven't had time to properly watch my PAL copy yet, so I wasn't aware of that issue.
Thanks for doing this Adywan. I do intend at some point to do a PAL SPECIAL EDITION (groan) of Star Wars Begins with corrected audio. Perhaps once more new material comes to light with the blu ray release.
I am very grateful to you all. It's been a difficult few weeks. My girlfriend has quite been unwell. We have the results of an MRI scan tomorrow so things are rather stressful at the moment. The car accident I had yesterday didn't help.
Anyway, as an antidote to the difficulties in life, its always nice to come back here and read all the supportive comments from you guys with regards to Star Wars Begins.
I am doing an interview for FHM Australia this week. I will be sure to mention you guys.

Sorry to hear about your recent difficulties, JD. However the FHM interview sounds interesting, how did that come about?

Are you talking about the PAL DVD version?
Yes, the PAL DVD. It's only slight but noticeable; I think it started to drift halfway through. Like Ady, I thought it was my player to begin with, but I tested it on the PC and that was out as well.
Also, what's the deal with everyone's faces appearing on their avatars? Maybe I'll do the same.

Odd. I didn't notice the audio drift on my DVD. The film is actually broken up into three video and audio segments. I will have a look where it occurs when I have a free moment.

Sorry to hear about the negatives going on in your life and that of your girlfriend, Jambe. Hopefully things can get back to normal nicely and quickly. Congrats on the FHM interview, though.
Now available on
Nice! There are 4 new edits available since last night, as far as I can remember. Don't often see that many at once. :)
btw, should be obvious, but I'll mention it anyway: version on .info is the PAL one only.
Yay, NTSC! Boo, usenet! ;-)
