Jambe, less than a month ago maybe more, I emailed you on youtube asking when this would be finished and at the time you said "Star Wars Begins will be completed in a few months." Well to my surprise, I see Adywan say on Twitter that it is done. Wow, most of the time projects like these take longer than what they estimate. So why did it cost so much to get your hard drive recovered? Didn't you back it up?

Hi.
The hard drive recovery cost so much because that's how much it costs! Two companies wouldn't even attempt it it was so bad.

If you want to see the invoice I can post it. Plus, my intention is to return the money to the people who donated within the next 12 months. I don't like being in debt to people. But I am very grateful to the eight people that helped.

As for backups. I am working from three different drives of rather large sizes. So no, no back up was made unfortunately. It's very hard to commit any more time to a project when you have a career and a young family. Unless you want to say goodbye to one of them, which I don't

DVDs are going out today and tomorrow.

Sorry for the no-nonsense replies. Had to attend the funeral of a loved one yesterday, so and I am not feeling great.

Best documentary i`ve EVER seen! And it`s not even an official one but a Fan made. MY god it was great. Scenes in it i`ve never seen before, dialogs i`ve never heard before. THANK YOU!

Really great and entertaining. Even long time Star Wars lovers like? myself will find something new here. I can't even imagine how much time and energy went into making these. I haven't watched the Ep. V and VI versions yet, so I guess I know what I'm doing now...

And from Twitter:
The best Youtube documentary about the making of Star Wars you'll ever see.

Star Wars, But From a Different Angle

Some of you guys should have started receiving packages in the mail today. Anyone?

In other news, I did a podcast interview last night - you can hear it here.

http://www.sci-guys.com/content/2011/02/04/sci-guys-podcast-053/

Go to about 15 mins in for the start of the interview. There will be a full length interview link going up in a few days.

Received today, cheers JD! Beautiful work on the menus and extras, the finished product was WELL worth the wait.

This project deserves all the recognition it gets - the official blu-ray might well show us stuff we've never seen before, but there's no chance it will receive this level of care and attention.

Just listened to the podcast. Good stuff! One question, though: you say the Declan Mulholland recreation in this is the first time we've EVER seen it complete? I've seen close to complete (some short bits either had no audio or no video, but used stills with captions...possibly in Deleted Magic?), but if you managed to get the rest of the clips/dialogue, that's great.

I posted the link to my FB page because I know I have friends that are fans who aren't members here and probably know very little about the fan-made preservation movement.

Cheers Jambe, awesome news, and a job well done.

Congrats on the success Jambe, I hope with the buzz this is creating around the Web some much deserved job offers come in.

I would love to get hold of some ADigitalMan Extended Editions if anyone can help out. Monty Python's Life Of Brian, Love Actually Bloated and Flatulent. Ta!

Has anyone thought of doing a combo cover of Star Wars Revisited with Star Wars Begins. And the others when Adwyan gets the other two 'Revisiteds' finished. The Ultimate version coupled with the Ultimate making of. Fantastic sets.

I'm working on exactly that. A boxed set of the entire trilogy. ANH will be done with a modified version of  Killbot's ANH jacket (although I am making mine for digipak, and NOT the black plastic case). ESB and ROTJ will be done in the same retro styling. Each one is probably going to be a 3 disc set (Adywan has stated he wishes to make ESB:R and ROTJ:R 2-disc sets, and I'd add Jambe's docs to each film. One can only hope that when Ady redoes ANH he'll make it a 2-disc set as well)

Despite being a new "member" here, I've been a long-time lurker.  Wanted to post and say that all the fan-made material on this site are a big hit with my unit.  We've all been enjoying Star Wars Begins, Building Empire, and Returning to Jedi via YouTube whenever we can.

Without sounding a begging "newbie" is there someone I could contact about potentially making a DVD copy?  Our internet connection at most of our locations is, well...sketchy at best, and even then very limited.  I know some torrent sites are available, but any kind of large download simply will not happen when we're in the field or at base.

...well, it could happen - but then it'd be bad.  haha

If not, no worries - but I'd be remiss if I didn't at least make the attempt.

In service,

Greenish

I've been looking for exactly the same thing. If someone was able to get me copies I'd be very happy to send them out to anyone who needs

As would I, or least making a late contribution.

Anyone know if a new cover for Star Wars begins will be made to replace Deleted Magic from this cover set:
