Not correct.  google's only got 8 pages: (site:savestarwars.com)

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:savestarwars.com&hl=en&biw=1152&bih=993&gbv=2&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&ei=dHZGTqbfIsje0QGKuYDNBw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=1&ved=0CC4Q_AUoAA

They have most of the images:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:savestarwars.com&hl=en&biw=1152&bih=993&gbv=2&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=WXVGTpbQKefY0QH1-sHLBw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ

but i've been unable to retrieve them as everything redirects to the current hosting page.  Was able to find another 4 pages in bing's archives.  Am looking around for more. (please post tips)

Here are the pages/files i've collected: http://fd.noneinc.com/savestarwarscom/

(anything listed zzz FILENAME.html is a page which existed but don't have an archive for.  If someone could go through this thread to find the links zombie84 posted, that would be a helpful.  Otherwise i'll get to it eventually. *EDIT* did it.  See below:)

If anyone has any pages/files, please PM.

If anyone's into beta-testing, ran a wget mirror of zombie's secrethistoryofstarwars.com and did a convert link version so I think i've got the whole site, just need someone to click through the links looking for missing stuff.

Archive can be found here: http://fd.noneinc.com/secrethistoryofstarwarscom/

[Thinking if this worked, i'll start a thread for other pages to preserve and start an archive, which can be zipped and shared]

but I need to figure out a way to add something to the pages so that it specifies an archive and what date it was created, like the search engine cache's do.

{for those looking to get into wget, here's the command I used:

wget -m --adjust-extension --no-verbose --force-directories --user-agent --tries=3 --random-wait --convert-links -page-dependencies --directory-prefix=[[[Files get saved here]]] --output-file=[[[Log file location & name]]] http://secrethistoryofstarwars.com/

}

My bad, none. I'm glad you're doing this. Didn't think of using Bing's cache as well. Unfortunately I don't have anymore pages than what you've got.

It is worrying.

I guess we have to wait and see what the cause and the ultimate effect of the cause is.

Zombie is alive, I can give you that much. At least, he's still being tagged in photos on Facebook. I messaged him on there as well.

I hope it comes back, it was a really good site and maybe more relevant than ever. (With that new clip of Lorne Petersen describing the labor involved in building/shooting the models, over digital x-wings, their wacky, L. Ron Hubbard-y P.R. policies are in full effect)

I messaged him a while back, as well; no response.

I hope nothing seriously bad has happened to him... :-S

Coincidence that site goes offline just as the BR marketing picks up...

You're probably seeing a cached version. Try a forced refresh/reload (ctrl + F5). I see a message from the hoster saying that savestarwars.com has expired.

Edit - NO! Don't do a forced reload yet, instead try and save the pages - anything in your browser cache may help with none's attempt to save as much as possible.

Or he could save HIS cached version, should the site be lost... then check to see if it's down.

Yes, it probably is a coincidence. How very astute of you.

Negative. Your comment didn't go in. It just impacted on the surface :)

Good to know some people have long cache histories.  [...or maybe not...] (good catch bkev and Moth3r)

If anyone else checks the page and it looks fine, if you could go through the links mentioned in this post:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Save-Star-Wars-Dot-Com/post/522554/#TopicPost522554

and do a 'save as' and in Firefox the option to use is 'Web Page, complete' that should take the html, css and images and put them into a folder and one html doc.  If this works for anyone, I can give you an FTP to upload them to or zip them up and use a free hosting service.  Please do all pages, as the one's i've marked as 'got' are actually from search engine caches and do not have images.

thanks

Behold, I live. And so does the site.

Thanks for the concern though, good to know people will notice if I drop off the face of the earth for two weeks. :p

Yay! The glorious return of both of you... To think we were already starting to try to track down archived versions of your wonderful articles...

EDIT: Reading your website, I noticed you mentioned on the Theatrical Audio Resources page that there was a 1985 remix for ESB and ROTJ. Is this confirmed? What are the differences? I'm only asking since it seems it hasn't been preserved yet and I'd be more than willing to do a PCM capture of my ESB laserdisc...

Welcome back.

Ran a wget mirror on the site, and the following pages did not show up, which means that they are not accessible from the main page, which in the case of one of them is on purpose (work in progress) the others not sure.

http://www.savestarwars.com/goutcorrect.html

http://www.savestarwars.com/doasisay.html

http://www.savestarwars.com/starwarsonfilm.htm (might be the .htm all the others are .html)

[finding 21 htmls & 187 images.  whole sites around 27mb]

Those pages are all accessible from the main page, except the Gout one which isn't quite ready for prime time. Some of those might be duplicate files or errors, there's a lot of junk there and also some things that I've uploaded for my own use.

It's a relief to see the site back you back! ;)
