Well, the second one was seriously mediocre :-( And the animation somehow seemed even worse.

Are they even using the same animation house they set up for TCW?

You'd think they had a well oiled machine on that end, even though it's a new show.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they're not. They're using a lot of the same team, but many people were also let go. Keep in mind as well that when you're using a new style in 3D animation, it takes time to get into the groove with a new style. Not to mention they don't have an extensive library of stock characters to give more life to the scenery.

Frankly, I like SWR's art style WAY more than TCW's wood block, stilted look. It already looks better than TCW did when it started, so I don't know what the big deal is since it's only going to get better as they get more experienced with these models.

I disagree completely - I'm not big fan of TCW but they were able to take that low budget and instead of making futile attempts at being like big-time movie CG animation, they made virtue out of necessity by creating a unique visual style. Rebels just looks like a cheap generic Disney style imitation.

I don't know where you get your info, but TCW didn't have a low budget. At all. Unlike TCW, Rebels doesn't have an eccentric billionaire throwing money at it left and right. SWR is the one being made cheaply (or cheaper anyway). Another point to add is that TCW had a much longer creation process for each episode than SWR.

The rest of your points are entirely subjective.

EDIT: Not to mention TCW's visual style isn't even all that unique when you consider the character designs were mostly lifted from the Micro series' look. Especially Anakin and Count Dooku.

Well, I mean small budget compared to big Hollywood animation movies. And the sort of squareness and painted-like textures are what I'm talking about in terms of visual style - Rebels looks like it's attempting to emulate the look of stuff like Frozen and failing miserably, because the budget is far too small for that style of animation.

*ponders pointing out yet again that Lucasfilm, not Disney is developing this series*

*doesn't bother*

Having only seen the second episode, I was beginning to wonder why this show was getting such high praise.

This episode feels very rushed, like they are afraid of allowing for any lingering moment or sense of atmosphere. I'm not a fan of the animation, but that should be secondary to story and character anyway. All in all, it's a show clearly meant for kids more than Star Wars fans. I'll pass.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Ponders pointing out that we get the point.

If the movie is any indication on price per episode on Clone Wars, each episode probably cost 2 million to produce. I remember reading a while back a more official source, and I believe it also indicated George kinda just threw money at The Clone Wars, though it's been a while, and I don't know where this article was.

I wonder if the home video releases will also be 2.35:1, like TCW.

Frankly i don't care if its 16:9 or 2:40:1 because its only on DVD.

No Blu ray no sale.

Its why thanks to Disney i don't own any of Castle on home video i refuse to buy DVD's in 2014. They are standard def and obsolete.

Don't be such a definition queen. =P

I'm sure there will be a BD release of the complete season. I agree though, I wouldn't buy a DVD anymore - same reason I never bought the 1st three season of How I Met Your Mother, even though I love them.

I really enjoyed it, and my 5 year old just lit up.

I still hate that Sabine wears a helmet and shoulder armor, but bare sleeves.

I liked Captain Sideburns, and his side-burns helmet.

Ezra and Kanaan? Are they doing a 'Jedi in diaspora' Jewish thing intentionally?

I like that Kanaan and the pilot apparently have an adult mature relationship. Not something you usually see in genre adventures.

I hope the big monkey guy stays grumpy, I like him.

James Earle Jones wouldn't happen to be related to James Earl Jones by any chance, would he? ;-P

Oh shi, only two minutes into the new episode but I got to say huge points for the Star Tours reference.

Finished the ep, it was alright, nothing special. I like how they gave Zeb some depth.

C-3PO and R2-D2 struck me as nothing but fan service. It was weird, when I saw them appear I was like "yeah okay whatever," but when I saw the Rex type droid I was actually really surprised and happy (seriously they should just do a whole show based on Rex).

Saw the [second] episode. Thought it was pretty dull. The animation here really isn't good enough to carry a weak storyline for several seasons.

They have an open sandbox to play in with rebels, here's hoping they decide to do something actually interesting. The first episode had hints at potentially interesting stuff.
