^ LOL XD

Fair enough choice on the eyebrows Adywan. I’m interested to know if there is particular reason/s or just your personal preference? (Not to debate, just curious)

The great thing about our situation is that if you prefer eyebrows then we still have Harmy’s DSEs to watch 😛 (hint hint George Lucas and Disney)

Here are some suggestions to work with now that the eyebrows has been settled.

Throughout the entire scene when C-3PO and R2 are in front of Jabba’s palace gate, overhead stagelights and the other side of the set are visible in the reflection of C-3PO’s head.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xas6vKJcZw&t=14s

Most particularly in this close up shot where not only the stagelights but also the film crew are clearly reflected from C-3PO’s head

When C-3PO and R2 appear in Jabba’s throne room, C-3PO goes down a flight of stairs with R2 following him but keeps on going. Then when he is approaching Jabba, R2 appears from the lower right corner.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xas6vKJcZw&t=2m21s

Also, when C-3PO AND R2 are approaching Jabba R2 has his third leg out; then when it cuts to the next shot it’s no longer deployed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xas6vKJcZw&t=2m21s

During the Sarlacc battle when R2 bumps into C-3PO you can see several wires actually pulling him as he falls.

The best solution would be to erase it. In this scene when Luke and Leia swing from the sail barge to the skiff, the birthmark is not visible here which shows that this is a stunt double.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy85G-EuKQ4&t=2m29s

When the Emperor arrives in the second DS and is speaking to Vader and says “Everything is preceeding as I have forseen” they are walking past a row of grey-suited officers. Then when it cuts to a wide-angle shot, there’re now in front of rows of stormtroopers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2F91Up9fT8&t=1m36s

When Han and Lando are talking to each other in the rebel hanger right before they depart, Lando’s gun belt across his chest changes sides during this scene showing that these shots were flipped.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWXVUJfSvDs&t=3m04s

When Han is running from the shield generator that’s about to explode yelling ‘MOVE!’, his reflection is visible behind him on what appears to be either a plexiglass or camera lens.

Han’s reflection has something to do with the lens they had to use for him going from a dark area to a bright one. But still, I find it distracting.

When Vader’s shuttle exits the Star Destroyer in the beginning, it’s followed by two TIE fighters. The TIE fighters are far apartfrom each other, but in the next shot, they’re close together.

When Vader arrives at the second DS and is talking to Moff Jerjerrod saying “Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate them.” during the last two words Jerejerrod’s mouth is moving as if he were talking, but nothing is heard.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQB2NXfJev0&t=2m11s

When the Gamorrean guards take Chewbacca to his cell, you can plainly see that when the guard closes the door you can only hear it close. You can still see that it’s open.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRh5wPCq1DA&t=2m55s

When Leia runs to the shield generator in this scene as the doors are closing she fires a shot from her blaster. It smokes, but there’s no blaster shot coming out of the weapon or sound effect when it’s fired.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHf1HY2FN5k&t=2m53s

In this scene when Leia is shot, the burn mark is already on her poncho before she’s even shot.

From the inside of the rebel hangar it appears that the floor extends further into space than the roof as it goes past the walls on either side.

But from the outside, no such protrusion is visible.

In the Space battle when Lando says “Watch yourself, Wedge. Three from above.” then when Wedge says “Red 3, Red 2, pull in”, it is Green Leader who responds with “Got it”. Not someone from Red Group.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPZigWFyK2o&t=2m29s

When Lando says “Watch out! Squad at .06”, “Grey Leader” from the Y Wing squadron responds and destroys the TIE fighter. But Wedge (Red Leader) acknowledges this hit by saying “Good shot, Red 2”.

I think the TIE fighter bit from the opening sequence is just a matter of the perspective shifting, not an actual continuity error.

^ I was initially going to say the same but upon closer inspection I think there is a noticeable difference however it never did and never will bother me as you just put it down to a few seconds having elapsed from when it cuts to the front on perspective in which you simply assume they’ve moved into a closer escort formation. I’d have to watch the scene again for myself but are the TIEs even already seen to be gradually converging from the rear shot?

I agree, i also think that the hanger “extending into space” is down to an exaggerated angle of perspective. Form what i can tell the platform is raised and it looks like the hanger has two floors but at the same time there is no sign of this in the official cut away diagrams, either way i think ady will be making a miniature to replace the terrible mat painting behind lando and han so he may come across the solution when he does.

February 2019 Update: Shoots & Scams-

That sucks. Sorry you have to deal with all that crap when you’re just trying to do something for yourself and the fan community. I’m more excited for this project than I am any upcoming Disney Star Wars movie. I really appreciate you sticking with it.

As long as you have this out by June I’ll be fine.

Hear, hear. Time for another donation I think.

Will Ady name and shame the scammer so others don’t get caught out?

Just read the update as well and man do I feel for you Ady in not only doubling the initial cost of the B-wing shoot and massively delaying it because of that one dodgy bastard but also not being able to pay bills because of criminals testing stolen credit cards on your donation system. It almost sounds like you’re being purposely targeted!

Hopefully that’s all the dodginess behind you now but I imagine it does make it much harder to trust other unknowns now that honestly just want to help and collaborate 😕

Here is the latest update for anyone that hasn’t seen it yet:

Ouch! Sorry to hear all of that unnecessary crazy stuff happened to Ady. I think that’s one of the reasons why Lucas disguised the filming of “Return of the Jedi” under the fake name “Blue Harvest.” Hopefully, things will start getting better for Ady around March/April of this year.

I would hope Ady calls out this helmet scammer guy by name. People like that reflect badly on the propmaking and costuming communities and need to be shunned.

And boy, does Paypal ever suck.

I’m really sorry to hear about the latest problems you’ve had to deal with, Ady. You deserve far better than that after all you’ve done for Star Wars fans everywhere. The scammers should be utterly ashamed of themselves, and I completely agree that naming the git who messed you about with the helmet seems like a perfectly fair and reasonable response!

Huh, I always thought RotJ happened immediately (or within a few days) after ESB…

Lando has had time to infiltrate Jabba’s joint, gain trust and become “one of the guys”.
Luke has gone from disgraced student to damn-near master.
These things take some time.
I’ve always figured on a couple years between OT films.
Between SW & ESB the Rebellion has had time to pack up and move to a frozen planet where they set up a massive, militarized, underground base. That had to have taken a year or more.
I’d say 2/3 years between each film is fitting.

Between SW & ESB 3 years is acceptable, because there is nothing to suggest anything otherwise.
But between ESB and ROTJ there is.
Even in Jabba’s palace, a fully trained damn-near Jedi master could just do whatever he wants.
Luke was no damn-near master or even close. Not even a fully trained Jedi knight.
Luke did not train between movies, because he would have been back on Dagobah, but he wasn’t.
Surely he did learn a lot from the first fight, that can not be learned with training, and that could’ve been enough to beat Vader. And he wasn’t scared of him anymore, since he was convinced that Vader has no intention to destroy him.

I read somewhere here a perfect explanation how Lando can infiltrate and gain trust in a couple of weeks.
You say 2/3 years of Luke doing nothing but leaving his friend hanging on a wall is fitting?
I wouldn’t think so.
More like 2/3 months tops.

And I wouldn’t think it is relevant what G.L. said prior to the movie, or what some illogical “canon” says.
I remember there was a time when Flat Earth was “canon”. It is not anymore.

It’s fitting that they took the time needed for the plan to work instead of barging in and failing.
Works for me.

Also, in actual events, I’m on board for Ady calling out the cretins that ripped him off.

He doesn’t train with Yoda, it doesn’t mean he didn’t train at all. Pretty sure Yoda’s training wasn’t about choking people or using mind tricks 😉

(has he found that in the jedi books we later see in TLJ ? Or a Sith holocron he got somewhere ? Who knows…)

^ This

In TESB Luke:

  • has to focus incredibly hard to pull his lightsaber to himself in the Wampa cave.

  • is still pretty amateur with the lightsaber, being disarmed only 30 or so seconds after beginning his fight with Vader.

  • is clearly rash and inexperienced, surviving Vader’s trap on instinct and raw ability.

  • can’t hold his own as he gets toyed with constantly by Vader.

In ROTJ Luke:

  • has had time to construct a new lightsaber (not likely an easy or quick task, especially considering there’s no one around to teach him).

  • has learned far greater control of the force now and new abilities, one which he would have had to figure out on his own as Mala pointed out. He uses these effortlessly, including when he whips his lightsaber up into his hand from the Emperors chair.

  • has far greater control over his lightsaber, so much so that combined with his new focus with the force that he can consistently while under pressure deflect/reflect laser fire now. He holds his own against Vader and ultimately beats him.

  • comes across from the get go as a changed person, one that is now calm, focused and confident in his control of each situation. He has matured and wisened in many ways, people clearly look to him for leadership now where before that was Han and Luke was the whiney young guy. It is now Luke the Jedi Knight calling the shots.

To me it is pretty clear a not insignificant time has passed between TESB and ROTJ just based on Luke alone. I can’t remember but is it even known to any of the rebel characters where Han has been taken? I can’t recall a time in TESB where any of them would learn about this, so on top of the rebel forces needing to regroup and get themselves in order again after the evacuation from Hoth, the gang also had to try and find out which system, planet and group had Han after probably initially presuming the Empire to have him.

So I don’t have any problem with feeling that anywhere from 6 months up to a year has passed since TESB which is in line with the seemingly generally accepted year between TESB and ROTJ.

The last scene of ESB:

LUKE
(into comlink)
I’ll meet you at the rendezvous
point on… Tatooine.

Other than that, I agree that a decent amount of time has passed between the two films. Luke is very different.

They told me they’d fixed it!

Author

^ Ah yes, thanks for reminding me of that bit. It’s obviously been too long between viewings of the OT for me 😛

They pretty clearly spell out that Jabba has Han and that they will be meeting at a distant point in the future at the rendezvous but to have planned it for a full year away seems a bit unplausable. All I can think and read into it myself is that it took a lot longer to get everything in place that they planned for and likely had other imminent “imperial” issues to deal with at times before they could head off to rescue a lone rebellion member (when looking at it from a Rebellion leadership position).

Here is the clip for anyone else interested in revisiting what Luke and Lando discuss before parting ways at the end of TESB:
