Just for this talk the edit is delayed indefinitely. 😃
Lol, well techniacally it already is, as work has stopped on rotj:r until Adywan finishes anh:r which has no definitive eta.
I personally prefer the Shaw version of the ghost because I think that’s what Luke would wish to see, but I can’t deny others their (wrong) opinions.
Same! I didn’t mean to derail the thread with Shaw vs. Hayden. Shaw always wins!
I was just suggesting could some edits be done to Shaw to make him look a tad younger. If not, whatevs!
The Skywalker Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX
This is the way.
Technically he should look like Vader, armor and all. That’s a hill I will die on.
he’s not Vader anymore, he’s back to being Anakin. the humanity that the emperor hid behind the mask has been revealed.
Yes, but every other character that dies and becomes a ghost, they look exactly as they did upon death. There’s no reason that ghost Anakin wouldn’t have scars, missing limbs, or even be out of his armor, aside from convenience.
Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. I was replying to a guy who said he wanted Darth vader to die with his mask on.
Sebastian Shaw’s performance is incredible here.

Oh yeah true then anh r hd is delayed indefinitely mwa ha ha. 😃
I used to think your edits distancing themselves from all of the other SW trilogies was a mistake, Adywan.
But with age and wisdom, it is probably the smartest move you ever did for your edits. There is no reason to attach inferior products to a superior one. Can’t wait for ROTJ:R!

Is there possibility of a way to include AT-AT’s into the Endor battle - or else remove that AT-AT in the one shot?!
That would be an amazing addition to help expand the ground battle, a goal Adywan initially stated.
While Crazy, I can imagine it in my head. Having the AT-ATs would be kinda crazy, as the forest foliage and trees would hinder their movement. Hell, from what we saw in the movie, the whole ground battle was a run-and-gun slog. Pure chaos. Rebels and Ewoks mixed in amongst the imperials. At-Sts being ambushed. I can only imagine how this will look.
Per the WordPress site,
“Remove Yub Nub & Victory Celebration”That must have been written waaaay back, during the briefest of times i was thinking of ending it on the funeral pyre. The ending is going to be pretty much the theatrical ending. NO planets, no Hayden, no Victory Celebration. I hate the SE planet celebrations and victory celebration music. Victory celebration sounds so out of place musically. Williams just basically ripped off the original animatic guide track ( and didn’t even bother to try and hide the fact) and it sounds so out of place in the OT. The guide track was for a Native American mini series and you can tell it still has that theme.
Wow Really!?. I never knew this, like seriously… that’s sad. I didn’t know he ripped it from something else. Tbh, I loved the victory celebration over yub nub, and weirdly, even the planet montage felt warm in my heart. But I totally understand wanting to change that. Plus it did feel kinda odd lore-wise, as I feel that the Rebellion is taking over the galaxy a bit fast, Right after the Second Deathstar, Vader, and the Emperor were just destroyed too. But I just excused it as Movie Magic and “Yeeeeee This is Just Awesome”… So uh… Yeah I think that would be interesting!. Bring in the Yubbing and Nubbing.
Hey Ady, I know there was a lot of discussion a while back around using clever edits or AI audio to tweak certain Vader lines (changing “Obi-Wan once thought as you do” to “Your mother once thought as you do,” among other changes), but all of those attempts sounded a little unnatural to some degree. I just came across this voiceover artist whose Vader dubs are the best I’ve ever heard, he absolutely nails the OT-era JEJ voice.

He openly offers his contact details for using his voice in production in his video descriptions, might be useful for any dialogue edits you’re trying to make in ANH or ROTJ Revisited.
Are you still planning to film extra Battle of Endor scenes in California?

ady already said he has a darth vader voice actor… he never said anything about ai.

I know he didn’t, I was saying other users brought up AI software and editing in JEJ’s voice from other sources. Didn’t see that Ady already has a Vader VO actor, that’s good.
Hey Ady, I have a question. My apologies if this has already been addressed, but in many of the cockpit shots (for example, when Wedge is about to fire on the tower of the reactor in the Death Star), the engines and ship parts outside in the background are fully lit the entire time, even when there are shadows appearing inside the cockpit, as if the ship is passing something. Will there be shadows added to the background elements as well?
Also, Return of the Jedi, being so incredibly ambitious for its time, shows its limitations today, in regards to the Death Star battle as a whole. One part that particularly stands out to me is the ships flying through the Death Star. Many times the ships give away that they are separately filmed from the backgrounds, since the lighting on the ships do not accurately reflect the changing of lighting throughout the scene.
An example off the top of my head: After Lando destroys the reactor and it explodes, he is still flying the Falcon within the large chamber, but when the Falcon enters the corridor it retains the same lighting, rather than darkening from exiting an open space (that is now filled with an epic explosion) into a more tighter area where light wouldn’t be as bright. I hope I’m making sense?
I’d imagine a lot of rotoscoping would be enough to fix these issues, rather than filming new elements, at least for most of the shots. Just a thought.
“Lifes a song you don’t get to rehearse, and every single verse can make it that much worse”
I joined this group just so I can get updates about the RotJ:R project. My kids keep asking me “if that guy is done editing the last Star Wars movie?”
I didn’t want to expose my kids to anything but the best versions.
Thanks for all you do Adywan!
Have you ever thought of starting a Revisited Trilogy Discord server?
Have you ever thought of starting a Revisited Trilogy Discord server?
So that he has to deal with a rapid-paced chat instead of slower message threads? Do you want him to finish the project ever??

If for whatever reason these two particular takes of the line aren’t up to snuff I’ll add more.

I honestly think this is an essential change for any ROTJ edit.

There is a canon comic that further justifies that Vader should say “your mother” instead of “Obi-Wan.”
It’s from Darth Vader #5 from 2020, and it’s part of a storyline that takes place between TESB and ROTJ. Right after communicating to Luke from the Executor at the end of TESB, he goes on a vengeful mission against those who tried to hide Luke from him. And as he uncovers secrets from Luke’s past, Vader encounters secrets from his own past. He ends up at an abandoned Polis Massa, the location of where Padmé gave birth to Luke and Leia, and died soon after. There, he finds a damaged midwifery droid, and with help from a droid he travelled with, ZED-6-7, accesses her memories and finds a holo recording of Padmé’s final words saying there was still good in Anakin. This spark would start to ignite the light within him. This is the moment when Vader begins to realize more and more, that it was Palpatine’s fault for him losing everything, and making Anakin think everyone was against him. The moment when Vader began to die and Anakin began to resurface. Palpatine sensed that in him when he came back to meet up with him, sensing some grief, which is a light side trait. It’s there that he tortured Vader with Force lightning, and even a choking, to try and bring him back to the dark side. It also explains why he’s not as angry in ROTJ, and why he said “I MUST obey my master.”
That’s all very much true. But even in the mainline films it lines up better. Luke tells Vader to come away with him. The last time we heard somebody say that was Padme herself on Mustafar, telling him it’s not too late to run away with her so they can raise their child. But his greed for power and jealousy of Obi-Wan stops him from considering that.

It’s really a shame in hindsight that Padmé’s character wasn’t created yet when the OT was being made.
Adywan, are you still going to use the News Gothic Bold font used for the titles for The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker for “Return of the Jedi”? Because it seems that Rian Johnson chose the Univers font for The Last Jedi for the same reason it might have been chosen for Return of the Jedi. To make the capital J in “Jedi” more pronounced.

I’d prefer using an actual voice actor to the AI, but it’s sounding pretty good.
