Heh, I was actually also going to post those exact tunic shots that you've just shown on the left and right of your example adywan, as well as a few more that come afterwards, but my post was already quite lengthy.

I'll go into the rest of what I think when I get a little more time, but let's just say for now, that the shot of Luke with his arm in a sling (when he's sensing Vader as the Falcon nears the Executor) is showing skin too, and looks similar to Luke's tunic shoulder when his hand is cut off.

Thanks for clarifying your thoughts on the Vader swipes at the doorway too, and very much looking forward to your anniversary clip later this month.  :)

Hi, ady, i'd like to ask a question. How you managed to eliminate the fake shake in the tie attack squence in ANH:R? I like to do a fanedit from the Bourne trilogy, but the most annoying things that the camera is always shaking, and you can't see nothing from the fight sequences. Thanks if you can help in this, hope you watched the movie and understand what I like to accomplish.

Blagh, shakycam.

It can help create the right mood and add tension if used sparingly and responsibly, but in newer movies and TV shows it's my biggest pet peeve (even more than the overuse of washed out color palettes)

The camera doesn't need to shake all the time. Let me look at what's on screen for a second or two, please! Does the cameraman have Parkinson's? Are you trying to give people headaches? Why does the sun come up?

That being said, I can't wait for the anniversary ESB:R clip. Just don't show us too much, because I have no self control and will look at anything thrown in my lap. Not that I need to worry, I think Adywan's been proven responsible when it comes to trailers and clips.

Bobocop, I can never focus on the content of your posts due to the awesomeness that is your sig. Please consider upping the awesomeness of your posts to surpass it, if that's humanly possible.

I am SO glad they toned that down on Battlestar Galactica. I was so distracted by it for a while near the start of the series. >:(

Anyway, uh...oh, did you get your mail yet, Ady?

I know this is a little bit off topic, but does Adywan have a plan for things he'd like to cut/change in Jedi? I'm not asking for a definitive change list or anything, but have their any hints or rough lists yet?

So Adywan hasn't confirmed any changes? That's fair enough, I guess.

Just give Ady a shout, I'm shure he can make an adjustment. It should stand out really well when the credits for us here at OT.com come up.

I've always though that the Falcon's flight trajectory was preset. After all, the technicians messed up its hyper-drive, maybe it was programmed to fly towards the Executor? Yes, it does have the plot-hole that they went to get Luke first, but still..

Also, I'm not sure how it is explained in the EU, but can a ship's tractor beam hold on to another ship, if the latter engages its hyper-drive engine? Maybe Lando and Chewie didn't care about the tractor beams (and thus flying towards the Executor), as long as they got the hyper-drive working.

Ah, missed the EU question! Tractor beams in SW have never been highly defined in a way that it's commonly used all to often. This tells me that they are relatively weak in that respect and I imagine multiple beams should be used in conjunction to target a maneuverable ship like the Falcon. The times I've run across tractor beam references in the EU are when they are used to guide in ship, tow a ship, or when they've are either targeting a slow moving ship OR the ship has already been mostly disabled.

In the original Zahn Trilogy, Grand Admiral Thrawn uses cloaked asteroids being deployed by tractor beams around Coruscant to literally blockade the planet by using invisible rocks preventing traffic from going into and out of it's dual over-lapping shields. Sensors indicated that the tractor beams were used over 200 times but only about dozen cloaked asteroids were actually deployed. This means that the tractor beams in SW like shields are invisible and so if the Imp tech on the Executor were trying to get get a lock we couldn't see it.  Thrawn also almost capture Luke in his X-wing in space using a tractor beam but Luke managed to launched and unpropelled proton torpedo that the tractor beam locked onto instead of his fighter as he thrashed his sublight engines by reversing thrust and then making a jump to lightspeed but soon broke down (because of said thrashing of engines but he did escape!)

In TIE Fighter the game, the most advance of Imperial craft, the TIE Defender employs a tractor beam to immobilize opposing vessels. However, enemy ships with enough momentum and speed (and pilots with enough cunning) can break the lock against the Defender's tractor beam and this must be constantly done in a line of sight. A ship that is caught in a tractor lock can not jump to hyperspace as it would be the equivalent of being in a gravity well.

In that escape from Bespin there were four TIEs on the Falcon's tail boxing the ship in and leading it toward the Executor. However, the pilots skills in conjunction with the Falcon speed would make it incredibly hard to get a lock on.

Thanks but you misunderstood.  I wasn't here before the cutoff, so I won't be in the credits at all.  Oh well, there's always ROTJ:R...

Contact Ady, he may reconsider. There is still more than 6 months left before it's even ready.

Ady has requested some test shots at the Plan B location I've had in mind. So we'll attempt to knock that out soon. The main shooting date(s) will be set as soon as the last pieces of gear and such arrives from Admiral Ady. Till then Rogue Leader is standing by...

Well, while I don't know what Ady used, a friend of mine does have software that can stablize footage.  It does this by extrapolating image information from multiple frames to composite smoother footage.  I do not recall what it was called, but it was for the PC.  I can try getting the name of it from him, if you'd like.  Though, I'm sure it cost him a good amount of money.

And I do know what you're looking to do.  Those scenes are a headache to sit through, and a nightmare through the eyes of another filmmaker.  I cannot comprehend why anyone would shoot a professional movie like that.

Makes sense.  Like they could afford prop cinnamon rolls.
