Davnes007 -  Thanks for putting up that comparison shot and GIF.

Would it still be possible...to also stick up a screenshot of the end of the 2nd shot, showing just how badly aligned the fully-closed 'skin flap' ends up looking with the 'arm'?  Thanks again.

Timstuff:

I like the idea that there is organic tissue covering the bionic hand, and it makes it a bit more convincing within context to the story, since it provides a believable concept for how the arm can integrate with Luke's body.

Obviously, the present-day George Lucas would probably shy away from showing a drop of blood, but since that's a non-issue I'd love to see Adywan add in some pseudo-terminator blood like I demonstrated.

Well, who said the arm is fully integrated with Luke's body? We never see the actual join. And as for internal mechanics being connected to his nervous system, we can already to that on Earth, so there shouldn't be any issue with that whatsoever.

As for your second point, seeing as this hand is mechanical and not biological, why would there be blood? When Luke gets it shot in Jedi, he does exclaim, but just because there is no blood does not mean there are no sensors connecting it to his nervous system. And that laser bolt doesn't actually harm him, as he continues using the hand without a problem. And there's no blood.

In Star Wars, lasers alwaus cauterize flesh upon impact (which would probably happen in real life, too). We couldn't really tell if Luke's Hand was just burnt plastic or burnt flesh in ROTJ, only that the stuff beneath the burnt skin was mechanical.

I always thought it was burnt plastic, and looking just at the screenshots I don't think it looks so bad.

I think that the "deadness" that some people have complained about with the prosthetic could be solved by adding a bit of red around the edges, though. Part of what gives out skin its color is that it's got red stuff underneath it. Also, I think that the prosthetic having living tissue over it is a much cooler sci-fi concept than simply being covered in a layer of life-like plastic. If such a polymer existed in the Star Wars universe, I'd be very shocked that they didn't already have it at the time of the Clone Wars. The flesh covering could also hint that the clone wars opened up new opportunities in regenerative medicine, since it's a field closely related to cloning-- that would explain why Anakin had to settle for a metal prosthetic, wheras only 20 years later, it's possible for someone to get a bionic hand that looks like the real thing.

I remember a reference book saying that Anakin chose to not put skin on his hand for some reason, FWIW.

Maybe Padme was into metal-play......

Nice one Davnes007 to up those Terminator images, but im not saying it needs to be that gory. But im hoping it looks more anologe, than digital, if you get my crap.

There again its already been tackeled by the chosen one....So again, dead argument!

Dont cross refrence the PTs with this thread no mores....

(Pretty Please) :-)

I know im p***ing into the wind with that one, but it would be nice.

Next reference gets a duplex facepalm though(from someone).

It wont take long, trust me. (Forkin Padme/Clones/Hayden my bum (   )O(  ) (whole) :-)

It looks like there are already some small red l.e.d. lights inside his arm, so if ady wanted to add a little something to the shot, he could probably just make a couple of the lights blink once or twice and that would be enough. The whole glowy blue neon thing, while cool-looking, seems to be too much.

I agree that the coloring needs to be tweaked to match better, and maybe fix the whole vein/fake looking prosthetic thing.

I think the internal stucture of the hand is near perfect (the wonky flaps and rubber arm could do with a tweak).

If I were to change anything at all I'd remove the LEDs.

Anakin didn't seem to mind about having a mechanical hand much but Luke went to all that trouble of getting it covered with convincing synthetic skin and flesh but has little red lights inside and I'm not sure if those flappy doors are enough to prevent faintly glowy wrist syndrome (it would make things worse if more lights were added).

The little clicky rods moving in time with his fingers were a lovely touch and have held up quite well over the years.

"faintly glowy wrist syndrome"

I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, it's horrible.

When does this get released?

I always thought the arm looked rather convincing, especially with the moving rods. I certainly don't see the reason to change the "interior" mechanics.

Well, sometimes people like to change things for the sake of changing them, for aesthetic and not dramatic reasons. For me, if it works dramatically and changing it wouldn't improve that, I'd leave it alone unless it was really bad FX work.

We all have to think that no film is perfect. No film ever will be! But...

I'M SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS VERSION!

After watching ANH:R (many times) - I will have no reservations on how ESB:R will be - it will be awesome!

There is one thing though - Vader's helmet (Crown) as he enters Echo Base walks through the girders and turns - it seems a lot shorter (like a 60's bobbed haircut). Can anything be done with that???

Part of that I think is because his cape gets pulled behind his shoulder.

We are so used to seeing Vader as a big dark triangle that it can be a bit of a shock to see his neck and shoulders without the cape, it changes a nice stable triangle into a tall oblong.

I never liked that bit when I was a kid because I had it in my mind that he was such a powerful being that he would have total control over his clothing (see now the full power of the darkside, no creases or fluffballs).

Now I rather like it because it seems natural.

He is really only repeating what Ady himself has said (hopefully sometime next year but when it's finished) and I'm sure he meant it in good fun.

I doesn't add up - all the other shots of Vader walking through Echo Base and promotional photography shows his helmet being longer. Prowse is looking vertically straight ahead after he passes through the girders with no tilts as he's walking (short), and then as Vader is walking down the corridor, longer helmet.

Also it says '2010' at the end of the final trailer.

Well it's been raised countless times and the same answer has always been given. When it's done.

The trailer says 2010 I think, but there are no more specifics than that.

Wasn't trying to be a smartass at all. Nor do I think that being here longer than some people gives anyone the right to be.

I am a little late but the main reason I put blue LED's in Luke's hand was so he could change the batteries out in the dark. LOL. maybe he tweeks the settings once in a while.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Maybe it has a strobe setting so he can set up a little mini rave on the falcon.

hey adywan, it's been a while, are we working on the music yet (as in each ascene as you go along) or are you waiting until the end?

Just seeing if I can be of help yet  heh
