i mean really does changing the sabers really further the story?
Actually, what i like about this Edit is that it doesnt touch the story, it just tweaks some visual stuff like lightsabers, some special effects, mistakes, etc...

Ady, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you get better soon. I'm glad you came in and mentioned the things you did to get this thread back on track. It was getting a bit shaky in here for a bit.
I'm only mentioning this because it had been brought up a couple pages ago again. As far as the probe droid crashing twice, I never cared for it as is, because it didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the trilogy, since that was the only time an event had been shown twice from different perspectives. When I was young, I used to think it was 2 separate probe droids. Now I can see that they meant it to be the same, but I still don't particularly like how they handled it. I think it is because of the amount of time between when you see the first impact and the second. You not only see the impact twice, but you see the probe droid rise up and leave after the first strike, then you see it from the beginning again. Here's an idea of how I think it might have looked more seamless (wish I had some skill here to put together a mock-up):
1) Show the Probe droids getting fired from the Star Destroyer in the beginning, as is.
2)But , instead of showing the probe droid immediately entering the atmosphere of hoth, cut from the probe droids being fired from the Star Destroyer to an establishing shot of Hoth, without the probe droid arriving yet.
3) Now introduce Luke on his Tauntaun.
4) Then cut to the shot from space of the probe droid entering the atmosphere of Hoth, followed by the first impact (untouched). Do not show the probe droid rising yet.
5) Now cut to Luke grabbing his scope and checking it out, talking to Han, etc.
6) After Luke gets swiped by the Wampa and dragged away, then show the probe droid rising and flying off, followed by the next scene, at the base.
Not sure how this would actually look. I'm pretty sure this would be very easy to cut together, but the music would probably be affected, so I'm not expecting that this can really be done. However, I think if this had been done something like this to begin with, it would have seemed more seamless and a lot less confusing to people.
I dont think this should be edited. Its the begining of the film, and even if it doesnt "Fit", its important that the rythm and each scenes tell what they are supposed to tell.
The first probe droid landing is mysterious and in some way "evil" it connects with what the main crawl was saying about the Empire Striking Back.
Then, you have Luke Skywalker, our main character, that needs his introduction with his music.
Even if you edit it like this:
First the probe aproaching, then Luke sees the probe crashing with his music and his dialogue, then the wampa arrives and knocks Luke, and then the probe Droid appears out of the crater... I dont know, it still doesnt feel right, too many things happens between the droid crashing and the droid coming out.
Each scene tells something different.
