well i can only work on the video editing side of things for the next couple of weeks because the housing association that i rent my flat from have just started work on putting in a whole new bathroom, so i am without power/ water for a lot of time while they are doing this work. This means i can't continue working on the models/ miniatures, not only because of this, but also because of all the dust, which is not good when working with silicone, resin or paints. I need to be able to work in the daytime so this work being done has stopped this for the moment.

Nothing but video editing for the next couple of weeks.  So, even without the loss of files, it looks as though the May deadline was unachievable.

 Spoiler free for the ST

Ady,

That Hoth Generator model is truly amazing. You always keep setting the bar higher and higher. I don't think anyone has all the talents that you have!!!

Nothing fancy CGI can beat the old fashion-ed models. Very well done! And I see ady you've created a sh** for yourself by not saving you're data!  That is sooo amateurish. :D :P Guess everybody's got a bad day. lol I wish you a quick progress and good luck, ady! :)

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite thread in this forum.

I don't recall if I commented on the new Shield Generator - but DAMN...that looks amazing.

I cannot wait to see how AdY incorporates that into ESBR.

Excellent craftsmanship.

OK so it has been a week since April 1ST, so now it is safe to say that it was not an April fools trick. Hope you get all the files off your hard-drive, of your computer. As Han said,"Good luck!...your going to need it."

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

I read this thread all the time, but rarely comment. But, I want to say I'm more excited about this than I am the upcoming Summer flicks. This is my favorite Star Wars film, and I've honestly stayed away from watching it for the past year and a half so that when I watch revisited it will be a far more fresh experience. Thanks for all your hard work, Ady!

Little late in the game for a new thought, now with the end so near (and I don't remember being so anxious for a movie to come out since ESB first debuted such a long time ago...) but it occurs to me that, for continuity, it would be neat to see a MonCalimari squid guy or two in the rebel command center somewhere in the background.  just for a moment, like the battle droid in ANHR.

When ROTJ came out, I remember thinking, who the heck are these guys, and why are they suddenly running the show?

I do remember reading that there will be no MonCal ships in the fleet at the end, but I don't recall reading why.  Was there a specific reason?  Otherwise it seems (barring some non canon EU back-story) the fish just seem to come out of nowhere to lead the charge.

My apologies if this has already been beaten to death somewhere else.....

I think it comes down to that in ANH and ESB we're following basically the "white human" cell of the Rebellion. In RotJ all of the cells combine to make a united front to attack the DS2. That's the impression I get.

That's also the impression I got. Because you see nothing but humans until ROTJ. Then you have the fish, and then that weird co-pilot with Lando... Honestly, now that you mention it, there weren't enough aliens represented!

Good point. Lets see more color added! Lando simply isn't enough. An asian doesn't pop up till ROTJ. No mexicans to speak of in the OT. Native Americans can't even get parts in non-Star Wars movies!

I think the PT can finally claim one thing it does better than the OT... more race friendly (Mace, Bail Organa, Jango)!

I agree with doubleofive.

What was on Hoth was a cell of the Rebellion, not everybody in the resistance.

For example, Mon Mothma is not on Hoth.

As far as alien species go, it could be explained away by saying that a number of said species choose to go with other groups knowing that a generally unhospitable world like Hoth was this cell's destination for the time being.

There are probably many factors coming to play there.

You have splinter cells (the crawl for ESB) says the Hoth base was a small group lead by Luke (which doesn't hold up with what we see... Leia and Rieekan seem to be doing the leading).

Mon Mothma, Madine and Ackbar don't seem to be at the Yavin base at all (you could argue that they were there but weren't seen but I doubt if with so much at stake they wouldn't be in the war room if they were on the planet).

It could be that Mon Mothma remained a prominent Senator until the Imperial Senate was disbanded in which case she may be in the process of being smuggled out of the capital during the attack on Yavin.

You also have the prospect of off world Alderaanians and refugees from other Imperial atrocities joining the fight later as well as whole worlds making a stand as the Imperial grip tightens (as Leia suggests to Tarkin).

It would be nice to carry more of the Yavin staff over to Hoth and have some others turn up in ROTJ:R as well as seeing the fleet at the end of ESB:R joined by similar fleets to form a giant armada in the last film to create the impression that the various Rebel factions have been driven to make one last desperate strike for freedom (which the Emperor has anticipated, prepared for and possibly encouraged).

It's so quiet... I keep waiting for a "Surprise, it's done!" Maybe?

Maybe Ady could start writing a journal of sorts, every night vaguely outlining what he worked on. A post of what Ady is doing everyday would be awesome, and probably help build back up some anticipation for people who have lost a little in the silence.

OR he could keep working on it and giving us updates on his schedule. It's worked for him for 6 years now.

As much as I'd love to see more updates about every little detail of this project, I think Ady has more than enough to do without having to write up a report at the end of each day. Maybe some anticipation has been lost for a few folks, but I'm sure that won't spoil their excitement when ESB:R is finally released.

Right.  My earlier post was meant to be positive. No updates mean Ady is hard at work.

Do we know the status of Ady's lost HDD? I don't remember hearing if he finished recovering all his work. And does he need funds for a backup drive?
