Terrific trailer update adywan. Nice unexpected surprise there. :)
The 'transport take-off' shot and others are looking EPIC!

I hate that the changes are so well executed that I'm probably missing about half of them in that trailer ;)
Really, really good work Ady. Aside from the colours being superb, I particularly liked the new snowspeeders shot, as well as the Bespin approach and landing platform shots.
I'd like to know where the shot of the Rebel transport taking off came from, however...

^ Newly composited Falcon? Taken from existing footage or is that the Fine Molds Falcon you had purchased?
^ I love the detail in this shot -- it's cool seeing the troopers in the cockpit. Again, wondering if this is from existing footage or the recently-constructed AT-AT model.
The shot reminds me of the scene from Hitchcock's Rear Window, where the neighbour that Jimmy Stewart's spying on stares directly back at him:

The colours! You have amazed me sir!

Both are CG shots.

Yes indeed corellian77, things are going to a whole new level for certain shots in this particular 'special edition'. And the quality of all the new 'Revisited' CG shots I've seen so far, look awesome in motion.
Just about anything is possible on any of these particular edits now... :)
Isn't the Star Destroyer the original model, with the rest as CG replacements?adywan said:

New shots are 'Special' in the right kind of way.

Yes, only the smaller ships have been replaced in some shots. None of the stardestroyers have been changed from the models. This is why i think CG can work without looking like a computer game as long as the CG is combined with the mainly real world objects and not just a sea of CG
To think that the old version of the trailer was released precisely two years ago. I ran them side by side and spotted differences:
A tweaked Emperor.
The X-wing has been added to the day-time approach to Bespin
Different asteroid chase scene
New background behind snowspeeders. (This is precisely the view from the hotel at Finse. I recognized it right away!)
I really like the improved skies over Bespin.
Lol, I just watched the first release trailer a couple of days ago and thought how cool it would be to see a new one. Well I log on here and what do you know, a new trailer.
Awesome work Ady, It's so good that I think Lucasfilm could very well copy a few of your ideas for their 3D release. I have been hearing more and more that the Blu-ray release ( regarding the original trilogy ) this fall are just 2004 dvd versions.
Anyway, About the digital Falcon, are you using mostly digital shots, or are you going to mix them up, half digital and half Fine Molds?

A teeny observation, you used the sound effect of luke's saber igniting from the 2004 SE and from ROTJ. Please don't use that sound in the actual film, it doesn't really fit.
The sound effects used in the trailer are just stock effects and not an indication as to how it will sound in the movie
You oughta add that to your signature until you get around to working on the sound mix.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
The time and effort you put into your edit is invaluable, and it shows!
Thank you so much for doing this Adywan. Thank you for never giving up so we can all enjoy your edits.
This is going to be epic!
I'm uploading a split screen comparison video of the trailer so you can see just how much it's changed. It's going to take a while because it's 1080p
Patience is a virtue.....on all accounts here master ady. Dont know what that means. But you gotta love split screen comparisons.
This is so awesome! I'm definitely far more excited for ESB:R than I am for the blu-rays.
1080P Split screen comparison trailer now online:
aha! Thank you. I really enjoyed the trailer as it was, but I sure do like being able to definitively see the difference. Incredible, as always.

Accomodating OT to suit PT is like a blasphemy to me... No way you touch my old static screen!
While I consider people like you (who use words like "blasphemy") to be awesome, I disagree with you. Personally, I think that a brighter screen will be a little more realistic... *if* it were done a little better.
I forgot to add ";-P" at the end of the sentence, sorry ;-)
But as a 42 year old guy, ESB always worked the way I saw it from the 1st to the Nth time... until Uncle George take out from his sleeve the "infamous" Special Edition.
By the way... "realistic" you say? In a world full of aliens, light swords, robots and spaceships? ;-)
First off, I believe that the ";-P" was pretty well implied by the use of the word "blaspemy". Just reading that word made me lol. (I do believe that somewhere back some people started accusing eachother of both blasphemy and herisy).
Second off, I believe that if Irven Kershner had shot that scene live, from an actual star destroyer in space (in other words, if he were a news anchor, instead of a film director), there would probably be a bit of glare from the TV/moniter/thing. Has anyone ever pointed a digital camera at their moniter? If so, you know what I mean.
... And may the Schwartz be with you...

Thank you for the comparison video.

But that's a whole extra step! I thought this was the internet, dammit.

Just saw the new clip. Thanks for the comparison clip too. Man, this is gonna be good. As always, fantastic color. I'm looking forward to this a lot more than the Blu-Ray set. Every time I see a comparison clip I think I'll never want to watch the special editions again.
