As much as I agree with the idea that menus are annoying and unnecessary, I think the fancy menus on ANHR, which match the style of the official DVD menus so well, do wonders in terms of legitimizing the Revisited Edits in the eyes of most people (i.e. those folks who might not be so comfortable with fan edits, etc).

I definitely plan to donate to this project.

I loved the menus for ANHR.  Very proffesional looking and was in line with all of the menus for the other five films.  Definately one of the things that sets Adywan's edits apart.

Hopefully ESBR will have similar looking menus.

As much as I hate it when other people do this ...

Yeah, every friend of mine I show this too is blown away by the menus. It starts things off at a level of "impressed" that builds throughout the whole thing. We, as editors ourselves, might prefer to just get to the good stuff, but the menus really help sell that this is not simply some nerdy Star Wars geek project (that's just at surface level :)

Menu's is something I always wished I could do better, but I can google my ass off and still not find a good tutorial on sweet motion menu's, maybe someday Ady can share some of his techniques with us, I know I would read it a few times.

Although I will admit, I hate them if they are to long, but if they are to long, at least have the option to skip and go right to the selection screen, I do not like HAVING to sit through 2-4 minutes worth of menu before selecting play, that is to much.

I say go all out with the menus. The one for ANH Revisited was on the level (if not above) with the current Star Wars DVD menus. The work done on it is better than a lot of high studio menus that are out there today. I would love to see what would be done on ESB Revisited.

I too really liked the menus on ANH:R -- they gave the DVD a certain "polish."  Without them, a DVD doesn't really feel too official, and I liked how this inclusion, at the quality Ady was able to achieve, immediately set his edit apart.

I'm planning on doing a DVD Architect tutorial down the road that will go over some of that stuff. I gotta do the Vegas ones first, so it'll be a little bit.

Since we're talking about menus, let me add my 2p's worth: please take extra care with spelling. Professionally-created menus on official discs don't have misspelt options.

*ahem* peak, peek *cough* ;-)

Nobody decides to eat crickets Frink. You are either forced to with "You have to try this" or do so out of necessity.

6th grade science class.  We were given the option to eat chocolate-covered crickets for extra credit, or freeze-dried, non-chocolate-covered crickets for the same extra credit plus $10.

I got the $10.  Didn't really taste like anything.  Just crunchy.

Watching Building Empire. Truly fantastic documentary, can't believe I haven't seen it yet.

Does anyone know if the asteroid that blows up too early has been fixed?

I know the audio is yet to be started, but for the first time I noticed some problems with the sound effect of the MF's cockpit door opening and closing. Sometimes the timing is off, sometimes the audio is missing entirely. Is this being fixed?

Indeed, it has.

Ady hasn't started the sound, but I'm sure if it doesn't disturb the dramatic tension in a scene that he will try to fix it.

Well said HotRod....

Things have certainly been quiet from Ady's com-station lately, has anyone heard if someone has stepped up to the plate on his request for a spring loaded hand grip for a cabling system yet?

Just a quickie because i'm in the process of installing my new motherboard then reinstalling everything.

The Hoth Trooper costumes are now awaiting pickup for shipping to the USA & the 2nd unit. Just thought i'd give you a peek at how they turned out. The vest needs to be stitched at the front because my machine can't cope with the thickness so is just pinned at the moment, but that is being completed at the other end.
