That's why I suggested a very limited release to trusted individuals like 005, et al. I sincerely believe that none of those forum members I mentioned would ever leak the workprint if Ady asked them not to.

And, although I don't know who all the "ESB:R crew" entails, I would presume that Ady knows what he's doing, and that they're trustworthy too.

Well the ESB:R crew as i call them will be Rogue Leader (who will be able to show it to the 2nd unit), 005, ImperialFighter & Ganamae. I trust these guys 100%

Good call. I can't think of a finer line-up for a QC screening and/or distribution.

Glad to hear that you're doing this, Ady; IIRC, a few significant things were caught and corrected because of the ANH:R xvid, right? This way you'll get all the benefit of one last quality control screening without the hassle of having multiple ESB:R copies present on the intraweb.

Every 27th customer will get a ball-peen hammer, free!

Hell, I doubt any of us would ever leak it even if adywan did ask us to!  :)

Anyway, nice to see this latest recognition of the movie -  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-12085224

Ady...noticed on the ESB:R facebook page that you were contemplating moving release to the end of 2011...did you ever make a decision on that?

I cannot believe I have been coming to this site for the better part of 4 years. Crazy.

Keep up the good work Ady. I cannot wait for this release.

He's just giving himself "wiggle room" to deal with any more potential problems as well as time to deal with family issues - dad being sick and all.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I know this is off-topic, but can someone please tell me who this "kenkraly" is and why he's in Ady's avatar and user title? And before anyone tells me to use the search function, I did, but it only yielded 3 results, all from 2008. o.O

I stopped reading after his post requesting the community to not bash on George Lucas, and got laughing cramps when he said the 2004 DVD releases were the good ones.

Thanks for the laugh Frink. I hope he realizes what he said before vbangle goes nuts on him. Then again... :)

By the way, a merry christmas to all of you, and a happy new year
(just in case I don't pop up before 2011).

Adywan, concerning your FB request for foreign dubs of TESB (I hope you don't mind me taking it here) you are going to conform the dubs to your new mix, right? I'm asking because there are two different Czech dubs (one for the original and one for the SE) and the SE one is much better for ESB (and as I already said somewhere it keeps the original translation, so Luke says "you're lucky you don't taste very good" and Vader says "bring my shuttle").

When I made my PDE cut I made the picture fit the 2.0 GOUT audio but I didn't want to use the inferior original dub (where 3PO talks in an anoying synth-like robotic voice and Jedi is pronounced /yaedee/) so I cut the SE dub to fit the Original Cut. Now, I'm not much of a sound editor, so there are some problems with the cuts being audible but it never happens when someone speeks, so if you were just using the spoken lines and putting them into your mix it shouldn't be a problem. So if you're interested, I'd be happy to upload this for you. But if you thought it better I could just upload the original dubbing.

There was never any Czech dubbing on DVDs, both the original and SE dubs are from VHS, so I'm talking the 97SE here. I'll send you the link when I get around to uploading it.

Well, having now seen the fully-enhanced EMPEROR/VADER clip, it's turned out to be the 'definitive' version by far, compared to the original and SE versions, as far as I'm concerned.  Simply brilliant work by adywan, and yet another enhancement that exceeds what I hoped for from this edit at the outset.

There is a little something that I've always intended to bring up about this scene eventually though adywan, although I'm not 100% certain if I'm correct about it or not.  See what you think -

Shot 1 -  When we first see Vader kneel on the circular platform prop, it seems to be positioned quite close to the base of the large 'chamber' prop behind him...

Shot 2 -  ...but when we cut to this viewpoint below (these are just SE version shots, by the way folks), it always seems to me as if we should be able to see a slight portion of the base of the 'chamber' prop in the bottom left-hand side of the frame...

So my question is, do you think we should see a hint of the black 'chamber' base prop (with similar 'reflections' as the smaller, circular platform here), or not?  Or do you reckon the base is rightly 'offscreen' here, and that the gap is fine?  It's a static shot, so it should be possible to add a hint of the base fairly easily, if you think that a little of it should indeed be seen here.  This same static viewpoint is seen 3 times during the whole scene, by the way...

And here's a larger version of it for a clearer look -  http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/4872/starwars51954.jpg

Shot 2 -  And here's another angle that shows the gap between the props, for you to judge it further.  As ever, it's best to see how things look from the shots in motion...

I thought the same thing Imp Fighter.

Still, it might bethe pylon that is in front of the chamber that hides a big part of it.

Now if ady wishes to add some glimpses on the floor then im ok with that :)

IF - not an issue.  Look at the front shot after Vader is on the platform - it's illuminated from below - that means the platform is a little higher up than it appears to be.  Now look at the side shot - all you can see is the chamfered edge of the platform - the illumination is out of frame.  That means the edge of the meditation chamber steps are below frame also.

And even if they weren't below frame, it looks like there's a good four feet between the bottom step and the platform,  so the bottom step could also be just out of frame on the left.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Not to mention that the pylon behind Vader seems to be an empty box like they forgot to paint/cover it.

Hey guys, I hate to say this, especially since I read along more than I contribute, but I disagree.

ImpFighter is right. If you watch the clip in motion, it becomes very clear Darth Vader walks off the steps, takes one single step (ONE!) in between, and then moves on to the platform.
So there's no way the platform could have been that far away from his chamber, and the wide shot indeed should have shown a step or two.
If they truly are out of frame, and that's for ady to decide, then Ziz is right and I leave it at that. But if they aren't, then it should be showing.

I'm at work right now, so don't have time to brighten the picture or anything like that, but I hope it is clear enough as it is.

vaderios - I don't look on the 'chamber' behind Vader as being obscured by a pylon in any way, in the 'side onwards' shots of him kneeling.  If you look at the very top shot in my previous post, the walls of the room are 'wrapped around' behind it, at the end of the day.

Ziz - you may be right, but I'm still not 100% convinced.  The angles are deceiving, but I think the gap between the 2 props might just allow for it to be seen in the 'side onwards' shots too.  I realise that the smaller, circular platform is raised a little, allowing for it's illumination below, but I don't think that it's raised so high that we wouldn't see a hint of the bottom step of the 'chamber' base in relation to it in the 'side onwards' shots.

I'm interested to see if adywan reckons the 2 props are far enough apart in the other shots, to make the 'side onwards' ones correct, or not.  A part of me still thinks it should be slightly seen in them however.

See my mockup Imp :)

I wasnt sure about the pylon if it was behind or infront.

Anyway the pylon needs to be fixed :P
