C-3P0 Shirt Showing

...right?

How do we know that it isn't just robotic tendons.

Actually, I think he is talking about his fleshy arm, which shows a little right below the green area you marked.  It is between the gold forearm and the actual shoulder, under the 3 metal "tendons".

Actually its the top of 3P0's golden arm we see there, as Angel noted earlier. Anthony Daniels wore along sleeved  black body suit so you wouldn't see any flesh under his armpit

So what, you wouldn't even notice unless you already knew about it and paused the movie at that exact moment.

I think this is getting a bit *too* nitpickish.

Fixing continuity errors and bad FX is one thing, but now you're in Lucas territory.

Well that's one way to look at it LG.

Another is that Adywan has previously incorporated many very subtle fixes in his work already.  While not everything is a biggie, these little details can help to really polish the look of everything overall, if achievable, I reckon.  And as this is something that I do notice during the shot, I'm hoping it's one that can be sorted.

....and Monroville for the win in this instance!  He correctly saw that I was meaning the small section of 'fleshy skin' that is seen just below the green area that Davnes700 highlighted in the C3PO shot.  :)

You really need to see this shot in motion, but it definately seems as if the black 'body stocking' got ripped at this point between the gold parts of the costume.

Seraphyn, I didn't realise you were referring to something you may be doing for Adywan, but he does indeed want to keep a few things under wraps for now.  So best to check with him before you mention/show anything to do with what you are involved with.  Interesting....

Just had a closer look and it is definitely the top of 3po's golden arm

I knew it. He has slinky robot tendons. That is a really well made costume. It does seem very robotic, and it holds up to this day.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Hey, you 'fixed' that one for me with the minimum of effort Adywan, lol!

Sorry for the confusion there, as I was always convinced that was a tear in the 'body stocking' that allowed for a brief glimpse of skin.  Having studied it again, I can see now that it is indeed C3PO's middle arm piece merely passing underneath the shoulder piece in that shot.  So it's not the skin after all....

I've also realised what made me think it was a piece of skin showing in the first place.  It's because we also see a large gap between the gold arm sections in this shot of C3PO flailing moments before, when Han says "Shut him up, or shut him down", as seen here -

....except we only see total 'blackness' between the sections at this point, and I think I expected total blackness in the shot I mentioned too.  However, I was definately wrong about that, and everything is actually fine.  :)

Just as an aside, me and the family will be tuning into the new Doctor Who series too.  Karen Gillan (the Doctor's new assistant) was born and brought up just around the corner from us, and went to the same school as my two brats.  While David Tennant is a hard act to follow for the new guy, I reckon a lot of the success of the revitalised show was down to the excellent Christopher Eccleston to begin with.  I sure wished he'd hung around for a second season after his award-winning turn!

I'm interested to see if the 'chemistry' is anywhere as successful with the two new leads, as it proved to be in the past.  But I guess it's gonna come down to how good the new stories are to begin with, what with the new showrunner in charge of things now.  Fingers crossed.

Yes I know, and I *am* glad with Ady's fixing of continuity errors so far. But I don't think this is all that noticeable.

I mean come on, we've spent almost an entire page posting magnified screenshots and  repeating GIFs of the scene just to point out what this supposed error is. Who's going to do that in the middle of watching a Star Wars film?!

Well.. Un noticeable things are for the fans.. and for the sharp eyers so they cant spot the mistake that was there ;)

We like the process :D

And thanks to those that took the time to do that, I finally saw that I was looking at it from a wrong perspective.  So what if it took up a few posts?  You should have seen some of the things that took up pages before....  ;)

And yes Ripplin, Adywan's GIF is strangely mesmerising....  :)

Approch to Cloud City: The shot really looks beautiful and almost perfect.

1. A little shadowing could cover a "too white"-"it's CG!"-effect.

2. The reason for my post however is not effect but content.

What looks "wrong" IMO is the fact that the two cloud-cars actually have orders to guard the Falcon. If you guard a suspect you don't want to have him in your back and walk in front or beside him. If you guard a suspect you walk behind the guarded suspect in its blind spot. As I recall the cloud-cars already have fired a warning shot so they are guarding an unfriendly vessel.

Adywan's scene actually looks like a parade formation, like they are protecting a Falcon they are trusting because one of the cloud-cars turns its back on the Falcon (perhaps leading it to Cloud City). It looks "wrong" to me because it seems like the Falcon is totally controlling the situation. I mean: One shot of the Falcon could blast the leading cloud-car out of the beautiful sky and one turn to the right would crash the second cloud-car to the ground.
In military terms - and perhaps in terms of directing - the Falcon is totally dominating the scene, the cloud-cars could be destroyed easily by the Falcon. It should be a 50:50-situation at least.

Yeah, when Ady jokingly said he was going to axe Lando, that took up several pages and spawned an entire thread.

Good point Obi-Wan, I think we are in a position to change the mistakes, not just update the quality of the effects.

The new Falcon approach could be modified so that the Falcon is escorted to Cloud City, it honestly makes more sense, I can't believe I never noticed that error before, nice one Obi-Wan!

Or to be more precise:

The purpose of the cloud-cars (or twin-pod-cars ... don't know?) is to protect Cloud City isn't it? If they turn their back on an approaching, unknown vessel they are not serving their purpose, mission or "job" as they could be blown out of the sky and Cloud City could be attacked.

Their mission: Protect Cloud City, identify unknown vessels, guard the approach of unknown vessels, escort unknown vessels to their landing platforms. They have no reason to trust unknown vessels. So they should fly at each side of the Falcon or behind the Falcon if there are only two of them. If there are three of them one can fly in front of the Falcon while the other two are flying beside or behind the Falcon.

The scene can be "repaired" if a third cloud car is added guarding the Falcon from behind. As I recall there will be no continuity error if there are three of them. It would also add to Leia's sceptical expression when they arrive at the platform.

I'm with you Obi-Wan!, the Cloud Cars should be behind the intruding Falcon, a subtle change, but would make more of the scene.... one minute 'STOP WHO ARE YOU' to next minute 'FOLLOW ME', would be better if it was 'LET ME ESCOURT YOU'

Silver bullets are standard issue X-wing leg flairs. =D On ejector strap belts have a series of mini-flairs as well. =D

Ady... Awesomeness... XD  I have something to post up as well (which explains my MIA for the last few days):

Hoth X-wing Jacket

This is an early picture and this is also the toughest part of our costuming creation on our end... This jacket is insane to make. Will post a complete pic soon.

i can't see a problem with that scene at all. the pod cars approach the Falcon and fire a warning shot because they didn't have clearance. they were placed either side of the falcon at this point. then they say that they have permission to land on platform 327 and move in front of the falcon.this becomes and escort formation, leading the Falcon to the platform. when you have a police escort(none criminal)  the car is always in front not surrounding the vehicle. the cars are just leading the falcon to its destination. They have been granted permission to land so there is no need for a hostile flying formation.

well, i'm about to pack up the pc for a couple of weeks ready for the workmen to come tomorrow. Can you hear me sobbing? lol. but i'll see if i can nick the wifes laptop and get a small internet fix. ;)
