Gonna be 2 or 3 years from now before this edit is done most likely. And someone will retort "It will be done when it's done!".

Personally, I prefer my other mockup video... where the Falcon continues to float instead. The Falcon doesn't sit idle long enough, so it kinda looks weird to me when the engine turns on and it sits two seconds then flies off.
So, if I had to pick, this would be the fix I would go with:

But hey, both are there to compare now, so you can all decide for yourselves...

Something like that, but have the engines slowly 'warm up'....not just 'turn on'.

I tried recreating it just now, with a slower "warm up" like you said... but it ended up looking too similar to the first attempt anyway. The Falcon simply doesn't "freeze" long enough for a warm up to look "natural". It's too brief for a convincing warm up. I literally can only say "one-one thousand" during the time that the Falcon stops floating until it's engine's boost off. One second is way too short.
The float version is the better looking fix, in my opinion.

adywan said:1- Asteroid trench &new crater background to replace the obvious matte used when the TIE bombers approach. The largest set pieces that definitely need to be done first so i can reclaim the space to continue with the next items.
2- Inside the slugs mouth - another large set
3- Wampa. A lot of work to be done on this especially when it gets to attaching each individual hair to the puppets face
4- Hoth Shield generator / Stop motion AT-AT/ stop motion AT-ST. All the outdoor snow scenes out of the way.
5- bespin vane and shaft to replace 2D matte. another large set approx 6ft x 6ft
6- Leia's apartment exterior new model - to fix the problems with the interiors and exterior scale.
7 - Interior hangar to replace rebel transport matte
8- Millennium falcon and Hangar set
9- Modified MPC stardestroyer with fibre optic lighting and correct detailing to replace many cut and paste or badly composited shots of the stardestroyers
10- Extra ships for the finale to replace obvious mattes and some camera movement problems with existing elements

wow Ady! I see ppl that manage to make these models for years and are you going to make them all in a short time?
I cant imagine a rush job from you because i know you will not do it :D
You can always ask for help or already models. I know that some ambitious thoughts can lead to frustration and i wanted to ground it a bit.
Think again what some things can be done with 3d or mattes :)

If Ady says he can do it by 2010, then he'll do it by 2010. Besides, what good does bitching do about it? He won't do it faster just because you want it tomorrow - and even if he did, it wouldn't be as good as it would be if he took his time, which is what he's doing.
There's doing it fast, and doing it right. Based on what we've seen in ANH:R and what's been shown in this thread, Ady most definitely seems to be doing the latter.

I've always been a quick worker. Back when i was doing fantasy painting on peoples leather bike jackets in the '80s i had been known to be working on 7 jackets at the same time, all hand painted with no airbrushing, with a completion time of 2 days or less. Now these weren't just simple designs but full blown paintings similar to the works of Chris Achilleos ( who i had the great pleasure of meeting).Over the years i have developed techniques that enable me to work faster, but without cutting any corners or causing a drop in quality.
Now , yes this puts a huge workload onto me, but i refuse to use a matte or CG unless its impossible for me to film with miniatures and sets. CG mattes just don't work , mainly because the lighting & colouring just doesn't look natural. CG mattes are getting a hell of a lot better since EP3 but i don't want to turn the OT into a CG background fest.
The good thing about all this is that i am learning new stuff every day and all this will be invaluable when i get to tackling the PT just before my 90th birthday in 2057 (j/k)

i'm estimating a 2020 release for ESB:R with all the extra stuff now ;)
Just be patient. It will be done when its done
(just couldn't resist that. lol)
Now back to seriousness.....

If there were Ewoks in my house, they would be celebrating... and if a Palpatine statue were standing in my living room, it would be getting shoved down right now... I'm expecting a couple Jedi ghosts to appear and smile around for no reason at any moment!

Reminds me of my days in art class. We'd be given a week to do something and I'd basically goof off listening to music or whatever then do the whole thing in one or two days. That was really handy. I am usually able to do the same with writing.

There was a short interview with him on a BBC Radio 4 Documentary about The Doctor Who Target Books for which he did a large number of covers (I think my first ever self bought book had cover art by him).
Anyone in the UK (I don't know if it can be played elsewhere) can listen again to it for a while here :

Yeah the 2nd video is really good. In the edit I like how the Falcon doesn't look like it's 'stalled' in space, lol.
Oh and R.I.P Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.

What did you make of MJ's death? It was quite unexpected and sudden.
Oh and back on TESB here's a sweet intro of it's 1987 Première on NBC - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK_6j6pBPVg&feature=channel_page
Well it came out 3 years before I was born, but I'm sure some of you may remember this....

Oh and another link a friend give me regarding TESB, this time it's a baby watching part of the film -

I bet she's thinking that the scene needs colour correcting :)

I'm so doing that if I ever have kids and the wife is away :P

the deadline he's made for himself is jan. or feb of 2010. maybe at the end of this year, but its unlikely. then about three months after the release, ROTJ:R will be started and the long wait starts all over again. i'm guessing end of 2012 or early 2013 for ROTJ:R
besides, it will be done when its done!

Can Ady confirm or deny this? This deadline was set quite a while ago, and probably shifted by now...
Everything is tentative. Don't worry about it. ;)
Ady has the same deadline for all the Revisited projects - "eventually".
:-D
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

See I always wanted it to be floating off axis like the garbage. Then reset its axis to straght and normal then do the loop and barrel roll out, same for Slave 1.
Also I have always wondered, was the Imperial Fleet already in the Bespin system since the Falcon had no hyperdrive?

in the novel, fett had tracked there trajectory and alerted vader. since the falcon had no lightspeed, the empire beat them there.
This seems like something Ady would have already caught (IF he considered it a continuity error)... but I did not see it listed anywhere as a fix, so...
... I took it upon myself to do a mockup:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4_tZ6Yd9fs
Even in 1997, the SE shot bothered me, not because it was poorly done, but because it seems to break continuity! In one shot, the Falcon and Slave 1 pull out of the garbage trail... only to wind up back in it again!
Deja vu? Groundhog day? Hmm...
