Yeah that seemed to have faded into the background. I really like this idea and I wonder if Addy is caught up yet and had decided what he wants to do about it.
The sad thing is, there was probably two cameras covering that shot, and they went with the angle that ruins the kick.
They spent how many manhours turning the Sarlacc into Audrey II for the SE, and they couldn't even put some exhaust on Fett's backpack in that shot? ;)
Where were you in '77?

Please excuse the temporary audio......to try and get by youtube
i know its not perfect....but if I kept at it for a few more hours it would be a good bit better....
Just wanted to bring this back up before it's forever lost under a pile of Bobba Fett...
This looks so good, even in this form, that it would be a real shame if it isn't used in ESB:R.

Just want to give props where props are more than due. You are the man Adywan!!!! After seeing and turning a bunch of folks on to A New Hope Revisited, I have complete faith that you will only enhance what is the best film of the Star Wars Saga, The Empire Strikes Back. I also wanted to say how sorry I am for your losses this past year. Keep up the good work!!!!!
I did actually have something to ask, and forgive me if its been addressed. One of the most disappointing scenes for me of Episode V, is when a rebel officer is instructing a couple of soldiers that "Group 7 and 10 will stay behind to fly the speeders" before the beginning of the Battle of Hoth. As I'm sure you are aware, this scene looks real fake. Same as the scene in Jedi where Lando and Han meet near the matted shot of the Falcon. Are you planning on fixing this?
Adywan will be replacing these mattes with new ones.

Ok Ady heres one for you, there is one part of the carbonite freeze room that always bugged me and that is the forced perspective walk way (I think we talked about this before many MANY pages back!)
and I know this falls way outside the improve the movies and do it because it looks cool (or "pulling a Lucas" if you will!) but what if you were to add a couple of storm troopers walking a way from Vader or have one standing guard at the Doorway in the distance?

I never saw it as a forced perspective walkway.
Maybe it was intended to be one but I just visually read it to be a weblike structure in the room for some reason we never saw on screen.
I agree with Bingo (for the first time today). ;-)Bingowings said:

Yeah it was intended to be a walkway.....but always looked a bit strange to me

If it were to be altered to reflect that (like the detention block corridor was for the 2004SE) I imagine the easiest way would to remove the black triangle of the floor which would be invisible from most angles.
A total background replacement would be very tricky with all that steam and the actors shifting around in front of it and I'm not sure it would look better.

I agree, it wouldn't really be worth the trouble. Besides, I like the "web" appearance... cause Luke walked right into Vader's trap!

Until I met you lot I had no clue it was supposed to be a forced perspective effect either! :P

Hi, here's some intersting news about a lost Making of ESB by michel parbot

Happy new year.
There's obviously gold in them thar frames. Nice link cbaka.
I came across this when visiting Don Bies' website:
It's from the shooting of the 1994 Energizer-Star Wars commercial: http://www.donbies.com/photogallery/enrg/energizer.htm
Do you like astromech droids? Check The Astromech Collection fan page!
Sorry to bring up snowspeeders again, but they seem to only develop orange markings in daylight.....strange photosynth paint?

As far as the carbon freezing chamber is concerned, I think both views are correct. Some of the shapes are definitely walkways, but others may actually be the "web" shape that others are seeing. Some of the art clearly supports the "web" structure, while some of the art and on-set cues indicate walkways.
And I'm a fan of Jaitea's mockup there! That wouldn't be harder than some simple motion tracking.
I have a hard time thinking Ady's not already gone and done this, though. Especially something so noticeable and not hard to fix.
What's the point of them changing the colors on the ship and stuff? I don't understand why they put so much time into that.

By "them" do you mean Jaitea in his last mockup? In that case, it's for continuity and not at all different to all the other stuff Adywan does for revisited...

If Ady or someone really wants to focus on the ship stripe colors then do it for the same reason that Vader's TIE has bent wings - so that the audience can easily remember which character is in which ship. Originally, Vader was going to be flying a regular TIE just like his wingmen until someone suggested his should be different to make it easier for the audience. Apply the same logic to the speeders - Luke's should have the orange stripes so it stands out as him being the squad leader. Everyone else has gray or no stripes.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Or the other way round....Lukes being grey markings and his colleagues orange....only thing being they applied this logic after live action had been filmed....:(

That makes sense. To differentiate him. Yeah I just didn't see the point at first. Thanks.
