I think the point with large hdtvs is justified somewhat. Not so much that tv is more detailed than reality, but that we are able to discern more details because of the perspective that some content is presented in. I will never in real life view an Apple larger than my head, where i might easily on a 60" tv. Small blemishes would then become quite apparent, etc. The much higher resolution of hdtv vs larger sd tvs allows for this, as a blown up image of an sd apple isn't going to show me anything i wouldn't see holding that Apple at a typical distance from my face.
As for crisp cinema, you have to take into account that cinema provides high resolution but has historically suffered from low contrast. This again has negatively affected the ability to resolve extra detail in depth when viewing films.
With hdtv, you combine the contrast benefits of sd tv with the resolution benefits of cinema, which are then combined with the perspective benefits of camera manipulation and film. It's too much for some people. And in certain scenarios provides a more intensely detailed up close and personal exexperience than would be possible on a day to day basis in real life.
Preferred Saga:
1,2: Numeraljoker extended
3: L8wrtr
4,6-9: Hal9000
5: Adywan
Those are sound arguments. I guess it depends on preference.
The only way to solve this argument is to have everyone watch a live staging of ANH:R and compare it to the HD version.

Brilliant idea, Frink! I'm totally for that! The only problem would be getting Harrison to attend. Oh yeah, and reanimating Guinness. Maybe we could insert some musical numbers and do Star Wars on Broadway.
Star Wars....nothing but Star Wars....

I got that under control.
Someone else will have to contact Harrison.
Hello. Didn't know where else to ask this, and the DVD artwork area hasn't been active for nearly a year.
I am trying to find the file for this SWR cover. This is for a thin DVD case. I had it, but I lost it. Any help would be appreciated, would be great if I could find the ones for ESB and Jedi as well. I think they were made by a guy named Savage.
Here you go:

And for future reference, the current DVD cover thread is still going strong.

Does anyone know if Adywan will let Obi-Wan ignite his lightsaber after Vader does, just like in all other versions?
No one knows.

fine i'm sorry but please just answer my question i'm begging you
Why would you beg for an answer for something that is years down the road? Adywan's color correction will look however he wants it to look at the time.

One new addition to STAR WARS REVISITED that I particularly liked was that when we first see the Death Star it's in orbit around a planet, based on the logic that it would have been constructed in orbit rather than deep space.
It's amazing that no one on this forum appears to have gone off topic and discussed the newly released trailers but it was interesting to see in the ROGUE ONE teaser that the Death Star is indeed shown that same way that Adywan did.
Perhaps when REVISITED is revisited for the HD version it might be tweaked so that the planet matches the ROGUE ONE version?
I guess we have to be careful with the spoiler policy discussing this sort of thing.
Ady has said he will not be altering his ideas for ROTJ:R to match TFA or do a TFA:R but I rather like the idea of AR:SE connecting with the new films.
If they are good of course.
I thought about that when I saw the Rogue One teaser (assuming the concept of the Death Star orbiting a planet makes the final film). Honestly I think that the planet Ady put in there looks close enough to the planet Rogue One depicts.
According to "Tarkin", the DS-1 is being built over Geonosis, but they could move it in the intervening years. If we're going to bring the new canon into this, which Adywan will not.

Just had a another viewing of ANH:R and one thing I'm wondering is the SE addition of the Millennium Falcon flying out of Docking Bay 94. Would it be possible with your 1/72 model Ady if that could be used to replace the CGI Falcon in that shot? I reckon it would look a little more authentic that way IMHO.

Here's a link to the teaser they're talking about. They're right, I hadn't even thought about how perfectly it matches up to what was in ANH:R. I wonder what the deal with Geonosis is.
Listening to The Projection Booth's super-sized episode on Star Wars, and during their interview with ANH Set Decorator Roger Christian, he says "[There were] a lot of discussions over how dark the [Death Star] walls should be. John [Barry, set designer] wanted them really black, but the lighting camera couldn't cope with it being so dark, so they got stage by stage, they got lighter and lighter so it reached a compromise, in effect."
Just pointing out that the set designer wanted the Death Star to be black and white.

Here’s what I would correct/keep IMHO:
Different voice tone, and Mask, and Chest plate for that matter… Only thing worth keeping consistent is the tint of Vader’s eyes. Almost impossible to fix the other stuff…
But why try to “fix” any of it? So his suit changes between films. It doesn’t break continuity for Vader to get upgrades.
I think it’s okay to manipulate some aspects of the performance to make the jump from shouty enforcer Vader to no-nonsense leader Vader less jarring and make the earlier iteration of the costume more in line with all the others as long as it’s subtle. You can still have the suit evolve without leaving the older versions looking unfinished in relation to the later ones. This is a special edition not a preservation of every aspect of the original film.
I may add this is the ESB:R thread and not the ANH:R thread so maybe the conversation should shift to there.
I agree all the way about the performance, but I just don’t think the differences in the later suits make the older ones look unfinished. I like ANH Vader having red eyes and a matte finish.
I know some like the red eyes, but it is very clear to me that it was a Costume error and since EP III Vader did not have the tinted red eyes from the outside, its worth noting that this was something that Lucas wanted changed. When he did EP V. I understand that Vader’s eyes HUD is red from his point of view, but I believe Lucas did not want this to be noticeable from the outside of his mask.
What people are forgetting is ANH is not the only film where Vader has an eye tint. He has yellow eyes in ROTJ.
yes but it’s very subtle, and it is not something that the average fan would notice.
Well average fans only notice the red Vader eyes because you can actually see Prowse’s eyes through them in a few spots. As long as that’s fixed it shouldn’t be an issue. Most of the time the red lenses are pretty subtle.
