Hi first post. (well second actually)

I just found out about this project about a week or so ago and downloaded the Xvid. I tell you... I've been watching it every day now since. I just love practicaly everything about it! What an awesome suprise this was. This is the best version of SW I've ever seen and this is exactly what the special edition SHOULD have been from the beginning.

Good luck on the rest of the series I only wish you change the prequels to match the story of the OT instead of the other way around.

off to post suggestions on the ESB thread...

Someone stated on another forum that the Death Star should have had 8 green lasers (as shown when it fired on Alderaan) as it was about to fire on the Yavin moon, when it only had 6. But i think it's far too late to fix this. Possible that Yavin IV was smaller than Alderaan and required fewer.

This wasn't a mistake. It didn't complete it's firing sequence before it was destroyed.

It all depends on your setup. I'm up to page 201 on my view!

Oh sure, you could tell me what page it was on, but you couldn't just quote it while you were there! Anyway, I'll quote for everyone else who wants to know and not have to search through the entire thread to find it...

Ok, i've tweaked a few things in the past couple of days but i will be doing no more work on this edit. The majority of fans like what i have done and that is all that matters to me. I want to put this edit to rest so i can have a break and then concentrate on ESB. I don't care if some of the FX aren't great or that elements don't match. the vision i had for the edit is now on screen and i had to do this using whatever footage i possibly could. I'd never done FX before and i am proud of what i have accomplished so this will be my last word on any changes happening for the DVD versions of ANH. Here's the changes:

Removed the ILM crew member from the droid sale
Removed the wire and batteries seen up Luke's sleeve in Ben's hut
Removed the remaining wires from Ben's sleeve during the sabre fight
Ponad Baba's arm will be swapped for Dr. Evazan' s arm & hand
Slight tweak to the TIE approach. The background & camera is no longer static at the beginning & a new Death Star surface
Fixed the gunport shot during the TIE battle where the gun remains static when Han swings the chair and the gun can clearly be seen over the top of the chair instead of behind it
Credits fixed

As for the sabers being too fat then just have a look at the state of the originals. the width is all over the place throughout. When rotoscoping i had to make them slightly fatter in a lot of shots because the blade is all over the place and has really jagged edges and as was mentioned by Fuser the blades are never the same thickness during ESB & ROTJ an actually get fatter than the ones i did at times too.

Sounds good... see you in a few weeks!

No need to get angry! Face it, your remark was smart-alecky... as you obviously took the time to tell me what page it was on, but didn't bother to hit "quote, post" and save me the trouble!

Actually I wasn't trying to be "smart alecky" at all. I was pointing out where you could find the list of changes and didn't think I needed to quote the actual post for you. Guess you misunderstood that I was actually trying to help you out.

Okay, well no harm done. Now people can quote page 201, instead.

I was working on the colour correction for this deleted scene for the dvd and just decided to see if it was possible for me to convert it to some sort of 3D. its still just a test but there is hell of a lot of work involved so i don't really want to do a scene thats too complex

that's pretty cool ady
what software did you use for that?

it's a shame you can't keep a good strong/wide range of colour with the red/blue glasses style of 3D
i remember quite a few years ago they broadcast an episode of eastenders in 3D (i think it may have been the dr. who children in need one but i can't really remember)
but they gave away grey tinted glasses in the radio times and the 3D and colour range was absolutely fantastic - i always wondered why that set up was not used more

anyone interested in 3D watch the vid at the bottom of this page - no glasses required
www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/
not much use for movies as it only works for one person at a time but very cool all the same

ady have you enough for your new hard drive yet?

I'm using the red/blue ones. it is still a work in progress and i haven't got the alignment quite right yet but if you have seen the family guy 3d section then you still see doubling happening no matter what. its just a limit with this type of conversion but i've done some more corrections since then and here's a snapshot as it stands now

Hey Ady!

How's the DVD-5 coming? I'm doing a screening next week with some friends and am wondering if I'll be showing the XviD or if the DVD will be available.

honestly, I'm not trying to push you man - just wondering... and salivating.

It's almost there. there's some more work to do on it (i may have French subs for it now too so i need to change the structure and menus slightly) i'm awaiting the funds to clear from paypal so i can get the drive and then about a day after the PAL DVD-5 should be good to go with the NTSC a few days after that
