Rotoscoping Lightsabers

I KNOW there was a thread about this very thing in this very forum, but for the life of me I can't seem to find it.

My question is a two-parter:
I now have Adobe After Effects, and am very excited about using it to rotoscope lightsaber duels. However, not only do I need to instructions on how to do it, I also need to know how to get video off of a DVD and into a format that you can edit. I have loaded the DVD onto my computer with DVD Decrypter, and now everything is is TS files. What do I need to do to transfer it to an editable form? Any help would be much appreciated.

TheForce.Net has an excellent article detailing how to do the lightsaber effects on after effects and premiere here. To get video off of a DVD, you will need a program that will demultiplex the audio and video. This will make the two in a format where you don't have decompress the video and lose quality from decompression. You will then have all the files in m2v's and ac3's. m2v is the video and ac3 is the audio. Once you import these into the timeline of a video editing program, you are all set!

I can reccomend the perfect software for this if you are using a PC. This software can demultiplex the video and has its own timeline. The program is called MPEG Video Wizard. Check this site to dwonload the prgram:

MPEG Video Wizard

You will need to enter a serial number to use it. I can't post it, but you can find one for free easily at www.serialz.to by searching the phrase "MPEG Video Wizard."

Hope this helps!

Adamwankenobi - remove that serial number from your post. What were you thinking?

Well, I wanted to help a friend in need. I removed the serial, and replaced it with a link to the site where the thing can be found. After all, who actually pays for these things? BTW, this isn't breaking the rules is it? I'll remove the site link if it is.

I pay for all the software I have on my computer.

All in all I feel your attitude toward stealing software is pretty poor. Stealing software is illegal! You will go to jail if you get caught. Get caught with enough illegal software and you will go to prision.

Lets keep that type of talk off these boards.

A similar program to do what in OSX?

Take a look at mac the ripper if you want to pull data from a DVD.
