I had no idea it was pronounced like that. I’ve always pronounced it Tan-tiv. For over 20 years! My entire life feels like a lie!

There is no lingerie in space…

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I’m not watching because it will always be Tan-tiv and I won’t hear it. I won’t!

Huh, I always called it the tan-TEEV four.

For those who didn’t watch, they pronounce it TAN-ti-vee four, where the middle syllable is a short “i” sound.

That sounds dumb.

I now realize how few of you have listened to the radio drama…

I am sad now.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

Yeah that pronunciation was a bit of a shock when I first listened to the radio drama, though I had hoped it was just a mistake (like how they used the Rebel fanfare for the Imperials). But I guess it’s official? Weird.

I assume that’s where they looked when deciding on a “canon” way to say it.

But as Lucas used to say with regards to pronunciation: “Ehh, it’s a big galaxy.”

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

True. Leia, Han, and Obi-Wan all have two different pronunciations in the OT. Tatooine has one pronunciation in the OT and another in the PT. George pronounces gungans differently than everyone else. Even in TFA you have two people pronouncing Jakku differently in the span of about 10 seconds.

I have, for the first film. I enjoyed it, other than the bland voice acting for Han and Obi-Wan and the downright terrible voice acting for Vader.

Pft, call me when you’ve heard all three and Dark Forces.

Yeah it takes a bit to get used to. Can’t stand Han, guy sounds like a total loser trying to sound cool.

Gonna be a lot of upset Perry King fans here tomorrow. <_<

I will say that voice acting would have totally fit a cheesy animated SW adaptation. I’d watch the shit out of that. But it’s tough with the radio drama because so much of it is left up to the imagination so obviously a lot of the memories of the film is getting in the way (and radio acting is a lot different than film acting).

There’s probably an argument to be made that the worst casting decisions were Hamill and Daniels. If not for them, it would have been a totally different experience and possibly much easier to reconcile.

I didn’t like Perry King’s voice acting initially, but it quickly grew on me.

The voice acting for Vader, on the other hand … sheesh. It gave me “Frank Langella as Skeletor” flashbacks.

If they had put it in the film I would have.

I actually like King’s Han for completely different reasons than Ford’s Han. It seems to me like instead of just being as cool as Han actually is, he’s just trying to be as cool as him and is not doing a great job of it.

I think the only voice I actually don’t like is the Frank Ziffel-sounding Uncle Owen. That or not-British Fixer.

Also, Brock Peters as Darth Vader is definitely an acquired taste, but I grew to love him.

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

I have no problem with any of them. I’ve listened to it in its entirety maybe fifteen times the past decade. At this point, they’ve replaced the originals for me. I will say however, had Luke been someone other than Hamill, it would have been harder to get used to it.

The others do a fine job. Perry King was an early choice for the role so it’s nice to have him do it. He plays Han much less trustworthy or likeable than Ford.

Hey man, I only said the bad voice acting limited my enjoyment, I didn’t say that it had to limit yours.

So…I’m absolutely fine with the fact that there’s a short ‘jump-ahead-in-time’ between the ending of ROGUE ONE and the beginning of EPISODE IV…to allow for Vader to shuttle BACK onboard his stardestroyer before he started chasing the ‘Tantive IV’.

But it seems there were somewhat convoluted ‘reasons’ to do with WHY that ship (and the Princess) ended up in the space battle itself to begin with…
