This is just my personal preference, BUT...
...since you're doing a new version of your ROTS edit as well (I haven't seen your first version, but I'm intrigued), you're in a unique position to be able to remove the Leia-as-Luke's-sister plot point. Especially since you've cut Luke and Obi-Wan's conversation on Dagobah.
That was always one of my least favorite things about ROTJ - Luke's Vader's son and Leia's sister? Really? The galaxy is that small?
Just a suggestion for a change that I personally wouldn't hesitate to make, but I can understand if you want to leave it as is.
I intend to leave it in. Though that used to bother me, it's so ingrained in Star Wars lore now that I cannot change it. Every piece of the EU would be totally nullified, whereas right now I'm only really getting in the way of one book (Shadows of the Empire.) Being an EU fan, I like that they are related. And I actually quite like the way it plays out in this version. With nobody telling Luke that Leia is his sister, he now figures that out by himself. It's quite a nice revelation. And since the love triangle in my version is non-existant, it doesn't feel like an easy way out of that any more. It takes on more meaning. It's a bit more powerful.
But again that's my preference, and I can easily understand why people want it changed. If anyone wants to take a stab at removing that subplot from my edits and rereleasing it that way, I'd be fine with that.
And to be less cryptic about your previous question, DVD on March 1st, AVI as soon as I can get it out. Which may still be March 1st. It all depends on when I get the effect shots so I can plug them in.

I agree that would be a intelligent change, but its ultimately up to Spence*

It's FAIL.*
Yeah, that's one I'm just not comfortable altering. It literally would give Leia absolutely no purpose in the movie, and since Han never had one, we'd have two major characters without anything meaninful happening in their story. Not what I'm going for.
I agree with ditching the Leia as Luke's sister plot, but I take your point that without it Leia has no emotional journey throughout the film.
The closer you scrutinise this film the more half-baked it all seems to be.
I understand. I'd prefer for it to be gone, but I get not wanting to fuck with the established universe too much.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be such a dick about that. The thing is, I have a mild learning disability - similar to dyslexia, but not quite - where I often mix up words with their opposites (sister/brother; most commonly it's with east and west - I lost a trivia competition in high school because I said something to the effect of Alaska being on the east coast of the continent, even though I obviously knew I was wrong).
I shouldn't have gotten that upset about you calling me on it. I don't know why I expected anyone here to know that, since I've never mentioned it.
Thats alright, I posted without really thinking, (I edited my post BTW) it was wrong and I apologize.

Nah, it was my bad. I should have waited to respond until I was in a better mood (car broke down a couple hours ago on the way back from the grocery store ... bad day).
Ha, you didn't miss too much. My bitchy post was only up for about 5 minutes or less before I calmed down and realized I was being a dick.
My apologies for cluttering up your thread. I'll step aside and let the discussion continue uninterrupted once again.
Just watched the latest trailer. Excellent work. Can't wait to see it.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to releasing it. Just finished up Jabba's subtitles and I'm making the videos for the DVD menus today.
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat...
Christmas in the stars.. out amongst the stars...
What can you get a wookie for Christmas (when he already owns a comb?)
I got a good chuckle out of that.
I'm quite amused by the DVD stuff as well. I usually just do a more sucky static menu, so these video menus are a whole new world for me. I'm constantly going "oh, you can do that? awesome!"
I'm easily amused, haha.
I was the same way while making a DVD for a short student film a couple weeks ago. DVD Studio Pro is fucking awesome, though I wish it could author Blu-Rays (my director was very upset to discover that we couldn't do this).
Haha yeah. I'm kind of limited to what DVD Architect can do, as I got it with Vegas and I can't justify spending money on another program. I like the way Sony products work, and DVD Architect seems quite flexible.
Rogue-theX just sent me the new score he put together for the speeder bike chase... amazing.

Also, tonight I will be posting the last preview clip I'll be doing for this edit. After that, there's no new footage being shown. But the entire edit should be out very shortly!
Yay! Can't wait. Brilliant poster by the way...
^ Now that is a cool poster!
I can't wait to see how this project turns out! I'm loving the clips you've shown so far!
