I myself have been diagnosed Aspergers. If you ever met me in person you would probably never guess it as most people are surprised when I tell them. What are your thoughts on the whole autism thing? Lately I wrote a short article on my blog about Autism and understanding them (I  really don't need much understanding but many of them DO!)

I wrote this for my blog:

Autism is something people know very little about. Often we have a family member of know somebody who has a family member who has been effected by autism. It isn’t the easiest thing in the world to live with. It doesn’t have to be the hardest thing to live with either. Through understanding, friendship, love and a little bit of kindness you can make an autistic person’s life much easier to deal with. Don’t get me wrong things can still be tough but by trying to understand them you will be showing you care and I can’t think of a greater gift than that. One thing that bothers me about being autistic is that some people think I should keep it a secret. I hate keeping secrets I feel like they are dishonest, so I tell people.
My main point is just try to understand us it won’t hurt. The kindness will be rewarded

Autism varies in its degrees, from incredibly severe to so light you wouldn't notice. When I was little, there was so much wrong with me they couldn't give a clear diagnosis - but they leaned towards Aspergers or something similar. My middle school was a place designed to work with said cases (ADD, ADHD, very mild autism etc) - so I changed to a certain extent. I had more problems with inabilities in reading social cues and facial expressions - and still do, to a certain extent. But certainly I didn't have it as bad as it can be. I talk like it's in the past, but it's something that doesn't really go away; it's something you have to work at.

Don't mind my uninformed rant.

I still have problems like those. I just really don't need to read social cues or anything like that or I can and just don't realize it. I hate it when people point me out for being weird, it kind of hurts. I'm happy to be different though. My friends are the ones that can accept me as I am and I am happy they are there.

If I could kill one famous person, it would be Jenny McCarthy.

That dumb whore was in "Time" last week, and while the article was balanced, the fact it's balanced between the views of an uneducated nude model who changes her opinion with the seasons and the overwhelming consensus of real scientists with evidence, I can't help but think 'balance' in itself isn't always a good journalistic goal.

I think a lot of autists ignore they are. The most notable surely beeing iPad users and hard video game players.

...  Not mentionning fan editors ! :)

Washington (CNN) -- A federal court ruled Friday that the evidence supporting an alleged causal link between autism and a mercury-containing preservative in vaccines is unpersuasive, and that the families of children diagnosed with autism are not entitled to compensation.

About time. It still won't convince the brainwashed masses that think vaccines actually cause autism. My parents for example.

It wouldn't surprise me. Pharmaceutical companies would do anything to make a quick buck.

There is just so much evidence against it. To insist that it's some sort of cover up would be a conspiracy of HUGE proportions involving thousands of people.

Cause nothing's quicker or easier than decades of development, years of clinical trials, and the millions and millions of dollars spent to achieve FDA approval.

I'm sure Big Pharma is just swimming in the money they make off somehow giving kids autism by a completely undetectable (and statistically insignificantly success rate) method through the moderatly inexpensive basic vaccination series.

Okay, okay. I don't know a lot about this particular example. I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me.

In a related chunk of irony, turns out Jenny McCarthy's son may not have autism after all.

Will this change McCarthy's beliefs? Maybe.

Will it change how firmly she and her flock of morons believe them? No.

Yet, my mom still believes vaccines cause autism. She thinks it is some huge government conspiracy. I thought she was too old for conspiracy, I certainly am.

How can you ever be too old for conspiracies?

After a certain age I realized every little thing wasn't a conspiracy. Didn't you?

I'm sorry, when you mentioned "nude" I kind of forgot about the rest of the post.

I did the Autism Speaks walk about a month ago.  My nephew is Autistic and is a great kid.  Autism Speaks (and the V Foundation for Cancer Research) are my charities of choice.  I try to donate something significant every year.

No insult intended to Sean or anyone effected by the condition but every time I see the word Aspergers I keep reading it as Arse Burgers (triggering the need to giggle).

I'm sure if I found the right chap or chappette in a white coat they would put a name to this situation and work out a therapy (possibly involving expensive drugs) to help relieve the suffering caused by this condition.

Buttkebabz Symplex is what I'd call it.

I do wish that these serious medical conditions had less pun-worthy monikers.

I get this too. I don't make too big of a deal about autism. I have it and it effects me but it doesn't control my life.
