Everyone who finds R1 to be a terrible movie is a pretentious and prejudiced whiner.
Objectively speaking, of course 😉
Rogue One has earned the #3 spot on my list, right between ANH and TFA. This movie is making me think about what it would take to remove TESB and ANH from my 1 and 2 spots. The nostalgia factor definitely plays a role.
I’ve been thinking about it also that will anything ever top SW and TESB but I can’t even think a scenario where that could happen.
Same. Disney has given me two good Stat Wars movies but I’m curious if they ever will make one that I like better than SW and ESB. If I had to bet my money on it, I’d say episode 8 has the best chance.

So right now my opinion is…
1 / 2 ) Star Wars / The Empire Strikes Back
3) Rogue One
4) The Return of the Jedi
5) The Force Awakens
6) The Attack of the Clones
7) Revenge of the Sith
8) The Phantom Menace
I have intentionally ignored the holiday special, the 2 Ewok movies and the Clone Wars movie - they all are great to watch when you’re drunk, so if you wanted to include them too I would put them between 5 and 6

You don’t have to tell us what we already know about Mala. 😛
ROTJ is objectively inferior to both Disney films.
Were you on illegal drugs when you wrote that? If not, you should be on the prescribed ones.
So…let-a me take that back, huh?

Okay so I’m gonna be the guy who loves Episode VI. I’d like to clarify that these rankings don’t come from nostalgia or anything like that. I hadn’t seen Star Wars at all until I saw TFA in theaters. These rankings are simply based on my enjoyment of the films.
I recognize the problems with Jedi, but after watching it recently for the first time it was immediately my favorite. The 2nd Death Star was a little annoying but the ewoks don’t bother me one bit. I actually might be the only one who thinks it would’ve been a lot worse/more awkward if they’d gone to the wookie planet which I believe was the original intent before Lucas decided to make ewoks to sell a bunch of toys.
You also think Phantom Menace is the best of the prequels, which is awesome in my book.
- The Phantom Menace
- Revenge of the Sith
- Attack of the Clones
It warms my heart to see so many people not only putting the PT in the proper place at the end, but also in the proper order.

It would be wonderful if they gave us something in the same league as Star Wars or Empire Strikes Back. Since that’s unlikely, I would be happy with a very good movie in the same league as Return of the Jedi. The problem with these new films is that they are just not very good. While I want something in the same spirit as the original trilogy, I don’t want fanservice. I want a fresh new film with a clear vision and expert filmmaking.
Even if you didn’t care for TFA and Rogue One you can’t deny Episode VIII has a lot of potential…ESB like potential.
Rey and Kylo Ren’s training (first time seeing a Dark Sider being trained in a SW film)
Finn trying to fit into The Resistance
Finn possibly finding out Poe shot his friend
Phasma going after Finn
Knights of Ren
Leia and/or Chewie confronting Kylo Ren
Possible learning at least something about Rey’s past or Snoke’s identity
The possible power vacuum left after the destruction of the Hosnian System
Learning about the ancient Jedi
I would be surprised if the film was anything less than great.

You forgot the obvious - Luke mofucking Skywalker, Jedi master.

I can’t believe I forgot about that…
If Luke can beat Vader’s ass imagine what he can do with 30 years of training.

I like to think that Luke has transcended to an OT-Yoda-like state where he won’t be whipping out his saber to backflip all around.
Keep Circulating the Tapes.

None of these filmmakers these days seem to be concerned with storytelling, or maybe their producers don’t allow them, but either way, I think the odds are much higher that Luke will fly around with “Force Fly” or cast spaceships into supernovas.

Sounds reasonable.

Luke force-throws a newer most dangerous ever Death Star into a supernova and saves the galaxy. The movie makes $500 million. Fans wonder why Kenobi or Luke didn’t do that to the other Death Stars or Starkiller. Some moderator on TFN proclaims that their force powers weren’t strong enough, but Luke trained for 30 years until he could do it. He found some ancient training method from some obscure world in some EU or Legends novel. Then someone asks why The Emperor didn’t force-throw the entire Rebel Fleet to the other side of the galaxy. Then a few people cry out “it’s just a movie, who cares!”
I fully expect these things to happen in the next movie. This is the direction the franchise has been going for almost 20 years.

That’s because it is.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Sounds extra reasonable.
Like the badass scene we got of Vader in Rogue One, I really want something like that for Luke. Not him slaughtering soldiers, just him being a absolute badass. I can compeletly imagine him single-handedly taking on the Knights of Ren with rain pouring down on his green blade.
I would be surprised if the film was anything less than great.
You will most likely be surprised.

I would like him to use his saber but I would prefer him to use Makashi like Dooku. I also wouldn’t mind him using Forced Based Physical Augmentation; I think he should just use it sparingly and with less potency than he had in his prime.

And then I want him to whip Kylo’s ass. I want him to toy with Kylo as Vader once did to him and when he thinks it’s safe or he has the upper hand Luke just gives to his ass. I want there to be a shot of Luke with his hood over his head walking towards a terrified Kylo and the only visible part of Luke’s face is his beard. The rest of the movie could suck but I could take solace in the fact that Luke became that badass.
I would be surprised if the film was anything less than great.

Maybe…I thought TFA was going to be decent at best and now it’s in my top 3. The only thing that would surprise me is if were somehow better than ESB. That’s a surprise I’d welcome.

This sounds AMAZING
My rankings of the Lucas films are pretty set at this point, but I feel like the two Disney flicks slot in somewhere above the PT. Not really sure about their order.
If I had some gum, I’d chew a hole into the sun…
