I’m torn ranking TFA and TLJ. One is the Star Wars we wanted, the other the Star Wars we needed. The prequels are just… not needed. Rogue One is a side story, so I don’t include it in the Saga listing. I would rank it against, say, the Solo movie when it comes out. Or the planned Kenobi movie. I quite like it, though.
8/9. TFA/TLJ
10. R1

You missed the brief moment when she placed TLJ next to AOTC.

Jesus Christ, care to elaborate Mala? I just can’t comprehend how AOTC is a superior film.
Here’s a crazy order for me at the moment
Return of the Jedi (don’t mind Ewoks)
Revenge of the Sith (I just DEW)
The Force Awakens (Rey of hope)
Rogue One (There’s a fresh one waiting for you if you mouth off again)
Empire Strikes Back (who’s scruffy lookin)
Attack of the Clones (Sand)
A New Hope (I’m so sorry
- Obi Wan)
The Phantom Menace (not all bombad)
Sorry folks but I love ROTJ and ROTS, TFA probably could switch places with ROTS depending on how I feel, I haven’t seen Empire in a while so maybe I’m being unfair but I unapologetically enjoy AOTC (SAND and all) Rogue One was great and I’m now in love with Jyn Erso
ANH is a classic but I find myself enjoying others more and TPM while I don’t despise it, I’m way to familiar with it at this point so I’m just going through the motions every time I watch now, probably shouldn’t have watched all those Episode 1 fan edits either

I’ll leave it at rest and will rethink about it later in 2018. 10% of TLJ is a stunning and moving movie. 90% of it is a Marvel flick comedy with cynical meta jokes…
The Whole Saga can be considered good or bad…from a certain point of view, now go to the degobah system there you will learn from master Yoda the Jedi master who instructed me

I’ll never understand the Marvel joke criticism thing. First of all, what’s wrong with having jokes in your movies? I’d be quickly bored with Marvel movies if they didn’t. Second, just because there’s a lot of humor doesn’t automatically mean it’s the same kind of humor as Marvel tends to do.

Yeah I don’t get it. SW is my favourite, and it’s full of humour. We don’t live in the 70s anymore so comedy asides today are executed differently, but they are a part of this series.
Hating a movie for being too fun is such a strange idea. I sure as hell would rather Star Wars resemble the Marvel movies than the joyless DC ones.

Being fun and being funny are separate things. Also making jokes doesn’t necessary mean they’re funny. Now, this may be controversial to say since I and everyone else liked Luke in TLJ: I don’t remember Luke making a single joke in the whole trilogy and now he’s making them up left and right. Now, I love both Luke and Mark, but I think you can see more Mark in this portrayal than Luke, and we have just forgotten since for us they’re the same. But I can put it on his older age and solitude that he may have gotten a little eccentric and loose kind of like Yoda.
Also, I’d rather have Star Wars resemble Star Wars movies, not ANY comic book movies.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
You know what I meant. The picture of Star Wars that the people who have huge issues with the humor are painting looks very dour and dull to me.
I had issues with the “jokes” too. It’s a tonal issue and most of them aren’t funny.
My ranking at the moment:

Who said anything about hating a movie ? I certainly don’t hate TLJ and its strong qualities might overcome its weakness, but if I always welcome humor in a movie, I don’t like when this humor overlaps dramatic moments (*) and I really don’t like when it’s just… not funny 😦
(* ANH is fun but you won’t find any joke when Ben is killed for example, the balance of humor in ANH/TESB is perfect; in ROTJ it’s less good but it still works; in PT/ST/R1 I just don’t find the humor funny, that’s all, and I don’t hate any of those movies, I even like very much ROTS and I’m still impressed by many TLJ ideas).
^ I find the humor in R1 to be on par with ROTJ. Some bits are good, some make me roll my eyes.
There was nothing as bad as Chewbacca’s Tarzan yell in Rogue One. I didn’t like the droid, though. I’m not sure why he was such a big hit.

I don’t like it either (I’ve removed it from the ROTJ edit I watch) but in R1 you’ve got the “Oh, is that your feet ?” that I find as bad for example. K on the other hand tries as hard as he can to save R1 from complete boredom (nice effort !).

“Are you kidding me? I’m blind!” Was pretty funny imo.
I remember laughing out loud at that one.

Might change after subsequent viewings of TLJ though.
