I thought Batmans was worthy of 3.5 stars.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.

It’s Raining Batmen.

I didn’t know Ledger had died until after seeing the movie (I’m so damn out of the loop!), and I thought he was great. I (generally speaking) hate superhero movies, especially after this recent bombardment of superheroes and superhero sequels. I probably enjoyed the Nolan films so much because they felt more like action movies than superhero movies.

Ledger’s Joker’s probably the one and only aspect of TDR I do like. Still, it’s far from an Oscar-worthy performance.

Exactly. I’m not saying he wasn’t good, but rather that there was no reason for people to go ape-shit over it other than the fact that he died.

I would say that his performance was fabulous, but his character just isn’t the true Joker. I definitely like TDK the most of the Nolan films, mainly due to Ledgers performance, but he alone can’t save how poorly a superhero world like Batman translates into a “so realistic/action movie”. The films weren’t even very realistic, come to think of it. Nothing beats Burton’s Batman/Returns in live action motion pictures.

I fall into a weird category of moviegoers in that I didn’t care that Dark Knight Rises was unrealistic and crazy, but I’m also glad that it didn’t follow the comic books. I love action movies, which is why I also liked the Burton films, which were so weird and nothing like comic books either (I think Batman murdered a few people in both). Superhero movies just aren’t films I enjoy, and I can’t put a finger on why. Most of them aren’t bad by any means, I just don’t care for them. I did like Antman though since it was basically treated like a straight-up parody, which made it a lot of fun for me.

I firmly believe that Ledger’s Joker was so praised only because he died.

Maybe by some but not by me.
It’s a good interpretation of the character. I don’t think anyone has done it too bad. It’s pretty much actor proof.
As films about Batman the character they get the Batman right, they make the villains feel plausible too.
It’s the technology that doesn’t really work. Microwave weapons that vapourise water in pipes but not in veins, Nuclear Bombs that magically stop radiating because they are just off the coast.
The barge problem should have been in a Two-Face movie but the solution would be everyone in a made rush to kill each other accidentally defuse the bomb. It was a single moment of mush in a rather nihilistic movie with good design and nice stunts.

Um… Burton’s films were definitely like comic book. His films may not have been directly based on plots from the comics, and he changed a few things plot-wise, but it was definitely world accurate. Also, Batman killing people is actually accurate to early Batman comics. That was before some crazy lady got upset that this DARK SUPERHERO was setting a bad example for the kids, so the writers were forced to shoehorn in the “Batman doesn’t kill” rule. I have always thought that the indifference Batman had towards killing was an essential piece of his character. His parents were murdered in front of his face, and he’s taking revenge on criminals, by putting them in jail, injuring them, or killing them if necessary. These are terrible people, and they have it coming. The reason “Batman” and “Batman Returns” are my favorite Batman films is because they were pretty much comic books jumping out onto the screen. Inaccuracy to plot and trying too hard to portray a comic book realistically are different things.

I guess Batmans and Batman3 are real things too? You just didn’t get it. I don’t judge you. I guess it was too sophisticated.

Of course I didn’t get it, your execution was shit.

And of course Batmans and Batman3 are real, but of course you know that and you’re being purposely difficult. Congratulations.

And I thought team_negative1 was obnoxious.
